[00:00:00] Speaker A: Hello and welcome world. Hi. Hello.
Hi. My name is DM Dan. We are the Explorers of Elsewhere. I am hoping we are broadcasting to the world we will see momentarily.
But hi, thank you for joining us. If you are joining us live, there's, there's a few of you. Hello. Hungry. The Dragon Games.
Hello Chris.
Hello everyone else. Hi. Hi.
Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. So what exactly is it that we're doing here a on this rather warm and balmy Monday evening?
[00:00:45] Speaker B: Yeah, who ain't so warm?
[00:00:48] Speaker A: How British of us. We are precisely two and a half minutes into the stream and I'm talking about the weather.
Yes. Welcome to Explorers of elsewhere Campaign 3 the Titan Isles, our weekly Dagger Heart actual play stream. I am DM Dan. These beautiful creatures on the screen alongside me are our adventurers. We have Nate. Hello, hello. We have Livy. Hello, hello. We have Georgia. Hello, hello. Theo. Hello, Hello. And Tim. Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello.
And we have all of you in chat on both YouTube and Twitch. So hi, this once again, thank you for joining along with us because it's still kind of new to me. There's a little bit of a shopping list of things that I will quickly run through before we kick start.
So first things first, it's still here. I, I mean I said it a fortnight ago, but I feel, I feel it's worth saying again, Happy Pride Month if you're celebrating.
And we.
I've been busy this week because recently we were. We managed to get to a point where we unlocked memberships in YouTube. So we already have a couple of members who are join who've joined in with us. I've also gone and set up a Patreon with the same kind of benefits and costs as the memberships on YouTube and that is all in service of an EOE Discord which I've built. It's not pretty, but it's built.
It does the job. Maybe we'll, we'll test it when, when someone joins for the. Someone who joins. We'll see if it works. Yes. If you enjoy what you're going to watch tonight, if you're not subscribed or following, by all means subscribe or follow. But you can also join us over in the Discord. The Discord access is free. The link is in the description in YouTube and it should be on Twitch when I get a moment.
And it's gonna. But hopefully we want the. The Discord will become a bit of a community hub for all of us to talk about, you know, elsewhere stuff, TTRPGs in general and just kind of general nerdy things.
One of the the goals on the driving forces of this channel really is to create something amazing in make believe world but also create something incredible in real life. So the Discord is hopefully going to be that kind of theater that we can all come together, we can start sharing things and hopefully just kind of enrich everyone's experiences of everything elsewhere.
We also just real quick, we're going to be playing Dagger Heart tonight. We play loads of different systems on the channel, but specifically we're playing DAG Heart right now. If you are interested in Dagger Heart but haven't got yourself the rules, we've got an affiliate link in the chat in the description as well that will link you through to drive through RPG where you can download a digital copy of the rules.
It doesn't cost you any extra to use our affiliate link, but it does give us a little bit of a kickback which massively helps out the channel.
And I think last but not least is we are currently, we, we are in the running for a Crit Award which is a, it's a like an annual award for tabletop RPG nerdiness and whatnot.
Yes, we're in the running for best games Master for of a Darrington Press thing and that's.
It's got my name on the, on the billing. But realistically the vast majority of us on screen are all kind of part of that.
[00:04:39] Speaker B: So you couldn't be a game master without anyone.
[00:04:42] Speaker A: Exactly.
[00:04:42] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:04:43] Speaker A: I mean be a very bored game master without you.
But yes, if you feel so moved you can find the link to the voting form. We're like category 12. I think there's a, a couple of, there's a few other nominees in that category but yeah, it doesn't cost anything to vote and the vote, that kind of show support would mean the world to us.
That was a bit of a shopping list. Is there anything fun happening?
Oh, thank you for joining for the first time. Hungry Dragons. I massively, massively appreciate that.
Cool. I reckon I've yammered on enough. Who wants to tighten some miles?
[00:05:28] Speaker C: It's gone a little boat ride.
Yeah.
[00:05:33] Speaker B: Let's go.
[00:05:50] Speaker C: Hello, I'm Nate and I'll be playing Griffin, a Sangrevar bard.
[00:05:56] Speaker B: Hi, I'm Livy and I'm playing Abe, the Guardian Keeper.
[00:06:02] Speaker D: Hello, my name is Theo and I'll be playing Cooper, the Dragon Scent rogue.
[00:06:08] Speaker E: Hi, my name is Georgia and I'll be playing Cassandre, an ace of our sorcerer.
[00:06:14] Speaker F: Hi, I'm Tim and I'm playing Gardi The Johnny Druid.
[00:06:20] Speaker A: And my name is DM Dan, the games master. In this adventure, Eighteen months after the events of the Eschaton, a refitted merchant trading vessel called the Windward Peregrine discovered and made landfall on a small archipelago of islands in a calm and balmy sea.
Headed up by the expedition leader, Coraline Balroon, the explorers began to investigate the mainland.
They found an island teeming with life. And under the deduction of the group's cartographer, Montague Skewerstrew, the nature of the islands became apparent. They'd been cast to the sea by the events of the calamitous Eschaton and almost vibrated with the powerful, primal magics of two world spirits.
The expedition would leave the island to found a town on a smaller landmass in the southern bay.
The expedition doesn't speak much of what happened on the islands to cause them to leave, but many know that the group's guide, Dawlish, did not make it off the mainland, and the town of Dawlishal was built in his name.
As our adventurers venture to the mainland themselves, the situation is much more dire, especially as the cause of such a lasting and violent storm is unknown.
And.
[00:08:14] Speaker B: So.
[00:08:16] Speaker A: We find the five of you.
Aboard a ship, a vessel that is uncomfortably rocking from side to side, buffeted by a violent thunderstorm.
The. The sound of the rain hammering down on the decking over your head sounds like hammerfall.
Despite this, you notice that the crew of this ship, all pirates, seem somewhat less perturbed by the storm that buffets them.
But starting with, starting with Cooper, where do we find you on the ship?
[00:09:27] Speaker D: I don't think he's a big fan of boats.
He's, he's a city lad. He likes his feet on the ground.
So I think he is trying to remain as calm as possible despite his very perturbed nature about being in a storm on a boat.
So I imagine he's holed up somewhere trying not to think about the storm that he's racing into.
Do we, do we have, like, rooms available for us to explore? Or is it, like, off limits, but this one room, because the pirates said so sort of deal?
[00:10:08] Speaker A: Well, you. The, the trip to the, to the island isn't kind of very far at all.
Like, judging by the maps, you know, the, the journey from Dorlishal to the mainland, if I have a quick check, is only like about five miles. So the journey itself is, is quick.
What will be short? So it's certainly not a will. Needs kind of like accommodation, per se.
So, but you notice that, I mean, you know that there are kind of accommodation rooms. Like, there are hammocks and whatnot strung up from the various posts, and you're surreal. But the vast majority of the space of this vessel seem to be taken up by, like, cargo crates more than bedding, for example.
Yeah, they. They mentioned. Although the. It's. It's only about five miles, but the ship is like, the ship is going delicately.
They can't have the masts out to. For the speed because the storm would just tear the masts clean off. So the. The master only very limply, kind of. Well, very tightly hung.
So, you know, there's only a small amount of, like, low speed but lower risk.
Yeah. So where you say you find yourself in sort of like the main brigade at the moment, but where.
Where do we find. Where do we know? Like, there's no other. Like, you are in the bow of the ship. There's no floor beneath you. Above you is the deck.
And you know that, like, on the. Like on the main deck, towards the rear of the ship is the captain's quarters. So I guess actually what I will ask you is, how do you feel like, is it more or less.
Is it calming or more unnerving that on board the ship is. Boss Angrila.
[00:12:30] Speaker D: Oh, horrendously unnerving. Don't like that at all.
Yeah, they're not like that at all. I would assume, just based on this conversation, Elismira is not in the brig with us, and she is in the.
[00:12:42] Speaker A: Captain'S quarters, you know.
Well, would you like to know where she is?
[00:12:49] Speaker D: Yeah, I feel like Cooper would like to know where she is.
[00:12:51] Speaker A: That. That's.
[00:12:52] Speaker D: That feels like a priority to know.
[00:12:54] Speaker C: If there are any quarters.
[00:12:55] Speaker A: Maybe.
Maybe you know where she is because you're actually in the mess room with her. Okay. There's a couple of tables. The chairs are. The chairs were tucked under the tables, but they're sliding backwards and forwards as the boat rocks from sort of like left to right.
How are you feeling about the seasickness?
[00:13:20] Speaker D: I don't think he gets seasick. I just don't think he enjoys the travel of being on a boat. I think he just likes his feet on land.
Yeah, I don't think it's seasickness necessarily that's troubling him. It's just more like if something happens, they have to see, and that's it. It's just the sensation of being trapped is not his favorite thing.
[00:13:44] Speaker A: Sure.
Well, yeah. As you sort of like hold on to the table for a little bit of security.
You notice that sat at the other end of this kind of this table like leaning back like leaning back on her chair, rocking on the back two legs with her feet on up on the table. Like her feet crossed up on the table, like seemingly like swaying in time with the ship quite almost quite like un unmoved by the. The violent motions. Ellas mirror yeah is sort of like swilling some sort of drink in a flagon that she has in hand.
And she looks up to you and just like she. She kind of gives you a. Like raises her eyebrows as if to ask if there's anything.
Anything up look.
[00:14:47] Speaker D: I have to ask. Why did you come?
She.
[00:14:56] Speaker A: She looks at you and like you actually you ask this question and like she looks to you and her brow furrows a little bit and then like she looks at you imploringly.
[00:15:16] Speaker D: Why did you. I don't think I can make that question any clearer. This is quite a dangerous place that we're going to.
Why did you come?
[00:15:28] Speaker C: She.
[00:15:30] Speaker A: She like looks it the look from the ace of our woman across the table from you is one that makes you wonder if you're growing a third eye in the middle of your forehead. Like she's just looking at you absolutely baffled. And then she like her. There's a look of shock on her face and she. Oh.
And then she like reaches into a pocket and pulls out the two large kind of gem like earrings that you've always kind of seen her wearing that she's not currently wearing. And as she. You watch her place them like over her ear holes. She like winces slightly and she shakes her head and.
Sorry. Say that again.
[00:16:17] Speaker D: Sorry. I should have noticed. Why are you. Why have you joined us on the ship?
[00:16:24] Speaker A: Oh well, I couldn't tell you that. That's secrets did and she.
She kind of looks to you. You can't you notice like there's this little rice merc as if she's deliberately toying. And then like before you get a chance to say anything, you watch her take these kind of pieces of draw like arcane jewelry off of her ears again and place them back in her pockets.
And perhaps like she seems like as she kind of leans back in her chair again and she's kind of looking up at the ceiling overhead like perhaps maybe you wonder exactly what it is she's hearing when she takes her like her hearing apparatus out.
What's. Where do we find Griffin?
[00:17:27] Speaker C: Griffin.
He's probably.
He's probably down not in the. He's probably down where sort of like a good majority of the pirates are sort of getting on with jobs or, you know, sort of sort of idling the time as they cross. Just kind of going around introducing himself to everyone, just kind of going, hi, how's it going? I'm Griffin.
[00:17:49] Speaker A: Nice to meet you. Hi.
[00:17:50] Speaker C: Oh, not a talker. That's fine. That's cool. I can talk.
How's it going? How's it going? How you been? How's it like to be a pirate?
[00:18:01] Speaker B: Have you got time for a survey?
[00:18:05] Speaker A: Are you kind of mainly limiting yourself to this sort of like this brig, or are you braving the upper deck and that and the elements?
[00:18:15] Speaker C: He's staying down in the brick first.
[00:18:19] Speaker A: Fine.
Well, in which case, yeah, like, perhaps you'll just kind of ricocheting between the lore of our, like, the dusky skin Loravar man, and there's a. A Majani man as well.
And they sort of, like, they just kind of grunt at you as you. As you bounce towards. Bounce between them. Who? Is there one in particular that you're really hammering in with?
[00:18:53] Speaker C: Let's. Let's go with the lore of a man.
[00:18:55] Speaker A: Okay.
He, The. The pirate sort of, like, looks up to you and pulls down the face mask that's covering the bottom of his face.
Annie, More questions?
He says, a little bit exasperated as you return to him.
[00:19:20] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm just wondering, like, that mask thing, like, I think it looks really great on you. Like, I. I tried to do it once. I tried to do it, like, during a winter time, and it. I couldn't quite pull it off. So I'm wondering sort of like, if you get, like, a special make or if it's like a special, like, crew thing that you get, Because I think it looks really cool.
So, yeah, like, how long have you.
[00:19:39] Speaker B: Been on this boat?
[00:19:40] Speaker C: How long have you been a pirate for? Because look like you've been doing it for a long time. Is it all right?
[00:19:43] Speaker D: Pays well.
[00:19:46] Speaker A: The.
The man sort of, like, closes his eyes for a moment. And.
I wear it well. You see him glance at the. This sort of, like, pile of burlaps sacks nearby, and you quickly. Like a fine mesh burlap sack. And you very quickly realize that the face covering is made of the same material. And he. He just kind of grunts.
Arcane cannon dust wrecks the lungs, I bet.
[00:20:26] Speaker C: I bet. Yeah, that's not nice stuff.
[00:20:28] Speaker A: And the gravel in his voice makes you wonder if perhaps he hasn't been wearing this, like, face. Well, you wonder if the fact that the mask Covers his mouth, but not his nose. That's probably not going to be protecting him from anything. Realistically.
I mean, that's just 101 mask wearing, right? Yeah. He sounds. He sounds a bit stinged up on the inside.
[00:20:57] Speaker C: Have you ever thought about singing? I think you sound really good. If you started doing, like, some singing. I can. I can see if you can sing along to this. And he starts, like, playing a little tune that a pirate might know. He's like, you can make it up if you go along. Let's. Let's go for it.
[00:21:16] Speaker D: I love this.
[00:21:16] Speaker A: It's not great.
It's not great.
It's. It is.
It is a passable stich. But he starts at singing along to your. To your rhythm, to your tune, but it's completely monotone. He's unable to pitch, so it's just like he's just this droning. Well, maybe this because he's got, you know, failing vocal cords from huffing too much arcane dust.
It's a real bubble. Like, what shall we do with the drunken sailor? What shall we do with that Is just one. One note.
[00:21:58] Speaker C: Oh, well, I think it's like. I think it's a good start.
I can give you some sort of vocal exercises that you can do, and then maybe on the way back, we'll give it another go.
[00:22:09] Speaker A: How about that?
I'd be delighted.
[00:22:14] Speaker C: Brilliant.
[00:22:18] Speaker A: Where do we find Gi?
[00:22:26] Speaker F: I think probably.
Probably also in the hold. He kind of. He wants to go check out the surface, but this is also the first time that he's seen the sea in, like, 20 years.
So he's.
Yeah, he's not feeling amazing about this.
[00:22:45] Speaker A: Sure.
[00:22:47] Speaker F: Probably trying to, like, take his mind off things by, like, talking to people who. Who row more often.
[00:22:56] Speaker A: So. Well, you know that there are the two pirates in this kind of room. One, like. But Griffin is kind of like bouncing between them, just pestering them with questions, I suppose. One.
One person.
You were somewhat. You probably would have been somewhat surprised. Surprised to see.
I'm just gonna move you into the next room.
So you.
[00:23:21] Speaker B: You've.
[00:23:21] Speaker A: You've be. You've borne witness to this awkward interaction between Cooper and that ace of our Lady Elizmira.
But interestingly, also aboard the ship is the young Mani girl that you met on the docks.
And, like, she was sort of like, happy to. To meet you. Well, she. She was happy to see you again.
She was somewhat sad because she still hadn't managed to get her rat to her pet rat to behave.
But, yeah, you find. You very quickly find out that she is actually part of the pirates crew.
[00:24:07] Speaker F: Oh yeah, I think I'll. I'll roll my eyes hearing what's going on with Cooper Lesbara and be like, so you're, you're one of the pirates, eh? Don't think I've caught your name.
[00:24:29] Speaker A: She.
She nods and. Well, yes, my name's Melasina.
I was so excited about what we were doing with when you started talking to the rat that it completely escaped my mind to speak to you about it, to tell you about my name.
[00:24:48] Speaker F: It always happens. It's like when you meet someone with their dog, you just learn the dog's name.
How is Roland?
[00:24:57] Speaker A: He's, he's being difficult to be honest. And like she reaches into her sort of like her foot, like she's got all these kind of third layers and she reaches into like one of the inside pockets and pulls out this, this little rat and like the rat that like, you notice that she's. She pulls the rat out by the base of its tail and like the legs are just like flailing and like this, this rat looks like you. You haven't got your beast speech activated. But you can almost hear the, the rodent like screaming in protest as she like yanks him out of the pocket that he's desperately trying to cling on to.
Yeah, he, he doesn't seem to be taking, taking much notice of the training, to be honest.
[00:25:49] Speaker F: Yeah, how strange.
I like, stagger sideways into a wall as the ship pitches. I've got no sea legs whatsoever.
[00:26:00] Speaker A: You, like, as you fall to one side, so does Mela. Like, you wonder if, like, how long she's been part of the crew, given her age. But like, as she trips Roland, the rat slips from her hand and as, like there's this look of like jubilation on his face. And then with lightning reflexes, she reaches out and grabs around him, like catches him in midair and you can see him. No returns to her grasp. I will bring you around.
[00:26:37] Speaker F: How is it always like this? How do you put up with it out here?
[00:26:43] Speaker A: She, as she sort of like balances herself. It's. It's normally a lot calmer than this, to be honest. It's just.
Yeah, it's, it. The storm's only been here for a couple of. About a week or so, maybe, maybe a bit longer.
But usually it's just easy sailing. We. We can make several runs to the island in a day.
[00:27:09] Speaker F: I mean, is this a good idea?
[00:27:14] Speaker A: She looks to you as if she doesn't quite understand the, the question and oh, we've. We've had the blessing from. We've had Renangar's blessing for a while. So yeah, they'll be absolutely fine.
[00:27:27] Speaker F: Hey.
[00:27:31] Speaker A: Have.
[00:27:33] Speaker F: But is the boat like, good?
[00:27:40] Speaker B: She.
[00:27:41] Speaker A: She sort of looks to you and yeah, she says. And you can't help but get the feeling that it's a yes of someone who just hasn't really needed to look for another answer.
[00:27:58] Speaker F: Yeah, yeah, I do.
Well, have you at least.
Have you at least created a world spirits? I mean, Renengard's all well and good, but this is the sea.
[00:28:15] Speaker D: She.
[00:28:17] Speaker A: She sort of like nods and.
Well, the handy thing about Renengar is that obviously because he's a sky watcher, he kind of looks after everything in this. In the sky. And that's. That's the storm. Right. But also Shayla, I mean, she used to be part of the crew.
So because it was her asking, we're basically getting almost like a. Like a. It's almost like a mates rates on ship sea safety.
[00:28:44] Speaker F: Great, great.
I'm going to look for some sage and cling on to something.
[00:28:54] Speaker A: But it's lovely meeting you again, Melissa.
[00:28:58] Speaker F: Bye.
[00:29:03] Speaker A: What is Abe doing?
[00:29:08] Speaker B: I think.
I think Abe is.
Has been watching Griffin skitter around and he is very determined to not be part of that.
And I was also aware that obviously there's people in there. So he's going to go up on deck.
I think he would like to have a smoke.
He does not. He's not being polite by not smoking in the hold. He just doesn't want to have to do like doubles with anyone. He doesn't want anyone licking his stuff. So he's just gonna go and smoke on his own. And to these pirates and they look like they might want some.
[00:29:53] Speaker A: So he's like, okay, well, as I spent time in this, I'm gonna show it off. But yeah, as you make your way up through the ship, if you. If you could so kindly open the door.
And then if you want to go through the door and the stairs are to your right.
[00:30:15] Speaker B: I collided with a wall.
[00:30:18] Speaker A: It's just like real life.
[00:30:19] Speaker B: He is big.
Oh, no. There's people out here that might want to smoke you.
[00:30:26] Speaker A: As you step out onto the deck of the ship.
The storm is wildly fierce and perhaps unnervingly, the. The lightning that peels across the sky is a bold and vibrant violet color.
It's certainly not like any lightning you've witnessed before, but perhaps also just as unnervingly when you see the peel of light like lightning overhead.
Normally it takes like from. From your home on the mounds. When you've watched kind of sea storms in the past, it takes a little while for the boom of the thunder to arrive.
But the light, the flash of lightning and the crack of thunder are almost simultaneous as you feel like you're really kind of charred. The ship is creeping its way through the heart of this storm.
Yeah, you can see that the of the rest a few there are considerably more pirates up on deck.
And like as you like something you notice one of them flinch as thunder crashes overhead.
But you can see them sort of like tirelessly working even though you can see that their clothes are slowing down. So kind of sodden with rain water as they are.
[00:32:00] Speaker B: Abe just kind of.
Nods to the one and tries to get himself kind of off into the side slightly opposite from everyone else and is gonna kind of is trying to like light a flint to like try and get his pipe started.
And it just gets the shield off his back and kind of makes like a kind of little umbrella for himself so he can just like start up his pipe away from the elements. And he's just kind of there just trying to not look very like you know, trying to blend in even though he's like eight and a half foot tall and pipe under.
[00:32:49] Speaker A: I'm going to be what is colloquially known as an.
And I'm gonna ask you for a finesse check to try to spark your flint because it's a very deliberate motion.
But you're just. Because you're currently trying to. I'm gonna ask for finesse this cuz you've got to like balance the. The shield on your head. I've got horns.
[00:33:21] Speaker B: They're like a perfect.
[00:33:22] Speaker A: Oh well you. You're balancing the shield. You've got the pipe in your mouth. You're trying to cover the pipe hole to stop the pipe we getting wet and you're like.
[00:33:43] Speaker B: 12 with fear.
[00:33:45] Speaker A: Okay.
You like. It takes a few times. There's a like in your face. It illuminates each time there's a like a spark.
But you manage to get a spark kind of large enough that it catches the the pipe weed on fire.
The problem is the heat of it like singes the end of your nose and as you flinch there's a.
It's coupled with another flash and a crack of lightning and like the the shock of being burned and sort of like surprised by. By the thunder nostril hair, your flint slips out of your hand and you watch it into the water.
[00:34:31] Speaker B: Yeah. Bloody ill.
We didn't bring A spare.
Wait.
[00:34:40] Speaker A: So. Yes, and as you like, presumably you're gonna have to puff the pipe with your hand over the pipe hole.
And you know that currently, like, maybe you're eyeing the torches, the lanterns that are desperately trying to illuminate the like the gloomy purple sky around you.
But like, this might be your last pipe weed puff my pipe weed session until you can claim another flint and tinder.
[00:35:09] Speaker B: Fine.
You will enjoy every moment even if you're soaking wet.
[00:35:17] Speaker A: Well, as you miserably grubly puff this and like the. You watch as like the pipe smoke.
Would you say you take solace in watching the pipe smoke gently wafting out of the end of the pipe?
[00:35:32] Speaker B: I would normally, but it just.
[00:35:34] Speaker A: Yeah, it's just the wind.
Okay. Yeah. And like, as you're. You stand there swaying as like, got.
[00:35:44] Speaker B: Really like stingy nostrils.
[00:35:46] Speaker A: Yes.
Yeah. You watch as the. The crew aboard the ship desperately try to keep the mass like the sails behaved enough to make sure it doesn't turn like, capsize the ship.
[00:36:00] Speaker E: Lastly then, Cassandre, I think Cass is also up top.
[00:36:10] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:36:12] Speaker E: I think she's. Again, she is also not.
Not taking heed of the sailors need to do their jobs and staying out of the way. I think she's at the. Is it the bow?
It's the front of the ship.
[00:36:28] Speaker A: Sorry, is that the front or the back? It's the front, isn't it?
[00:36:31] Speaker E: I got the word right.
[00:36:32] Speaker B: Yes, yes.
[00:36:34] Speaker E: It was one of two. And I was.
So she.
[00:36:38] Speaker B: She's pro.
[00:36:38] Speaker E: She's at the bow. She's watching the approaching island with sort of wrapped interest. I imagine she's still got the jar of SAP that she took from Abe last night.
And she's like playing with it. Like she's tapping. Playing like a fiddle, like a fiddle toy as she stares at the horizon. And this purple storm.
[00:37:05] Speaker A: What.
As you look at this storm, like, let's say there's quite. There's a few moments where the front, like the front of the ship is kind of being tossed from left to right. Most. Almost the most violent, like, most violently.
So there's a couple of moments where you have to like, stoop low to kind of maintain your.
Your balance and sort of perhaps kind of grasp onto the.
Like, grab onto the side. So there's a. There's. You're stood by an arcane cannon. It looks like this kind of large cylindrical kind of iron cannon, but you notice that there are like, to look at it, it looks like a much larger version of your pistol with an enormous mana crystal. Kind of built into it that when struck, creates this devastating kind of elemental blast.
But as you sort of like, you grab onto the cannon for a moment as you glance up, what would you say is like, one other unusual thing about this storm that you've noticed as a sorcerer?
[00:38:20] Speaker E: I would say it's the way it affects the water.
[00:38:23] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:38:26] Speaker E: I imagine, like, the threads of this sort of purpleness to the storm kind of descend down into the water as well. And the way it reflects light, it seems to be piercing into the water itself. Like when you dilute ink in liquid and you can't tell from even sort of quite where we are quite close to the water on a boat, if it's an illusion of the eye or if it's something that's actually happening.
[00:38:56] Speaker A: Okay, Okay. I like that.
That a lot.
In which case, yeah, like, as the. As the ship kind of crashes from side to side, like, it's hard. Like the. The visibility even at the prowl of the ship is almost negligible.
You can barely see the end of, like, the. The figurehead that's kind of jutting out from the front.
But yeah, you.
You hear a, like a commotion from the pirates behind you as, like, one of the ropes comes loose.
And the pirate that was holding it, you, like, is the rope, whips out of his hands.
And then, like, in a moment that's almost too quick to pass the rope as it flies upwards, wraps around his ankle, and yanks this wolfkin pirate up by the ankle. And he collides heavily with the mast before the other pirate is able to kind of jump, use his entire body weight to pull the rope back into place and begin to lower the.
The wolfkin pirate to back to the deck.
But you notice that the Wolf King pirate is swaying heavily, and there's a. A large kind of bloody gash across his forehead from where he struck the.
The ship mast so hard.
[00:40:31] Speaker E: She notices this. She turns back, and rather than asking how he is, if he's all right, she just shouts across the deck, how long until we get there?
[00:40:44] Speaker A: The. The law of our pilot pirate looks up to you. And at the rate. At the rate that we're going, at least another hour.
[00:40:57] Speaker E: Is there something we can do to make this quicker?
[00:41:00] Speaker A: The Wolf kin having just kind of untangled the.
[00:41:05] Speaker C: The rope on this cup.
[00:41:07] Speaker A: Yeah, like, and it looks water and blood. The. The rain is making it stream down his face. But he. The way that this wolfkin looks up to you and says, choose your gods and then pray to them.
He says.
[00:41:26] Speaker E: I'd rather Just get this boat going.
[00:41:32] Speaker A: The.
The two pirates kind of look to one another and then they kind of not. Not really knowing how.
[00:41:40] Speaker B: What.
[00:41:40] Speaker A: What else they can do. They just kind of go back to re. Securing the line that just came loose and kind of leaving you. Leaving you with your thoughts from my.
[00:41:51] Speaker E: Thoughts in my jar.
[00:41:53] Speaker A: Yes.
So. Well, knowing that it's going to probably be about another hour or so who like between the five of you will all have some time.
Some like time to. Well, I suppose. Tell me. Let's start with. Let's switch back to Guardi.
Between last night in the bountiful parlay in DOA and this boat ride. Whilst this boat ride is a. Is a little bit stressful.
What like you have all kind of gained the. The benefits, the effects of a long rest.
[00:42:42] Speaker E: So what was.
[00:42:45] Speaker A: Well, yeah, between the two. Between the five of you. What is it your. What is it you were up to? What have you done? What would you like to do? Shall we start with Gardi?
Yeah.
[00:42:57] Speaker F: I'm glad that it was a long rest because I did it and then was like, oh, should I have did it?
[00:43:02] Speaker A: I should have did it.
[00:43:03] Speaker F: Amazing.
I think, I think a lot of it probably was just spent trying to get his head around the situation that he's suddenly in.
Like where he's gone from a relatively sort of I guess structured nomadic day to day to the bustle of a city that he thought was like a lot to suddenly crimes and pirates, storm riding.
So yeah, he's.
I think he's probably just like trying to figure out how. How to. How to exist in the situation that he's finding himself in without going a bit too mad.
[00:44:00] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:44:01] Speaker F: Say probably, probably track someone down to try and air. To just try and bounce off to make sure that he's not going mad.
[00:44:12] Speaker B: Air his grievances.
[00:44:13] Speaker A: Yeah.
Is there anyone in particular that you had your mind on?
[00:44:22] Speaker F: I feel like Abe seems like he's the least involved in all of this. In all this bollocks.
He's keeping himself out of all this. It seems very sensible.
So I, I assume he'll probably be out for a smoke or something at some point.
[00:44:41] Speaker B: Sure.
[00:44:41] Speaker F: Where Back. Back in the good old days when you still had your flint Nintendo.
[00:44:46] Speaker B: I remember those days.
[00:44:51] Speaker A: Well, what do you imagine? Sorry? Do you imagine this? Like are you finding a. Before you're on the ship or like during the.
[00:44:59] Speaker F: Presumably if that's when the long rest would be.
[00:45:01] Speaker A: Well, effectively you've got the whole time period from like last night up until the present moment. And also that Hour like the next hour or so you've got.
[00:45:12] Speaker F: Yeah, I think I probably.
I think like the. The previous evening I think I'd have wandered up when you're having a smoke because I want to be outside anyway.
[00:45:24] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:45:27] Speaker F: Any chance I could get a wee puff of that big man?
[00:45:41] Speaker B: Just.
Well you know how to smoke a pipe.
[00:45:46] Speaker F: What do I look like? Hey, of course there nothing to do.
Get in there.
[00:45:52] Speaker B: Right. As long as you know how to smoke a pipe you're not going to get all gunky or nothing.
Don't do any weird.
Whatever you lot do with pipes.
Parism. A pipe that obviously going to be much bigger.
[00:46:11] Speaker F: Oh yeah.
[00:46:16] Speaker A: Chris and Chat has acknowledged that Abe's pipe is the size of a car exhaust.
[00:46:24] Speaker B: It's like a clarinet.
[00:46:27] Speaker F: So I'm like I probably. I shouldn't do the.
I shouldn't do like the spit sharing ceremony thing.
Yeah. I'll just.
Yeah.
[00:46:40] Speaker A: Take a.
[00:46:41] Speaker F: A bit of a drag and I think. I think he actually takes it like absolutely no sweat whatsoever.
[00:46:47] Speaker A: It's.
[00:46:49] Speaker B: He's a herbalist.
[00:46:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:46:54] Speaker F: How do you.
How do you deal with all this all the time?
[00:46:59] Speaker A: What?
[00:47:00] Speaker F: All this people and stuff and I try not to.
[00:47:06] Speaker B: That's why you found myself in this position. I'm.
I kind of try not to do nothing with. None of these folks used to be quiet around here and then just kept. More and more kept coming along.
[00:47:23] Speaker F: I bet it was back better when.
[00:47:26] Speaker A: You were back with.
[00:47:28] Speaker F: A keeper village or something at some point.
Nice and quiet, eh?
[00:47:41] Speaker B: I don't need no one.
[00:47:44] Speaker F: All right.
But like it must have been really interesting, right.
What you must know a lot about the world spirits.
[00:47:56] Speaker B: Well you know we know and we know what we don't know.
[00:48:01] Speaker F: Fair point.
[00:48:03] Speaker B: You know.
[00:48:06] Speaker F: I.
I thought up until a few years ago I thought that we kind of. We knew everything there was to know.
Turns out we didn't know anything.
[00:48:20] Speaker B: Well how does.
What are majority's lifespans Just sort of out of.
[00:48:30] Speaker A: So basically all of the heritages in elsewhere have roughly like human ish life expectancies apart from.
[00:48:42] Speaker D: From.
[00:48:44] Speaker A: Goblins and maybe sprites. But sprites don't really look into it all that much and goblins usually like get themselves into enough trouble that they wipe themselves off.
[00:48:57] Speaker B: It all works out in the end.
[00:48:59] Speaker F: Yeah, it all averages.
[00:49:03] Speaker B: Well once you get you know some more ears on your chest and a bit more time in the world you'll find out that you don't know nothing and nobody know nothing.
And there's no point trying to find out anything because you Just. We're just like a little speck, you know, and all this stuff.
You know what? Just keep your head down and do you. Don't worry about.
It's all load of nonsense, I think.
[00:49:34] Speaker F: Follow where the world guides us.
[00:49:39] Speaker A: Well.
[00:49:43] Speaker B: I get a world. Did it guide your ear? Did it? Don't look like you're having much fun.
[00:49:48] Speaker F: Yes.
[00:49:50] Speaker B: Guide you to that. Cass. She's a maniac.
Right.
[00:49:55] Speaker F: I thought. Is this not what everyone's like?
[00:49:58] Speaker B: Well, I don't know. I don't spend enough time with people. But I have never seen someone shoot someone in the face point blank to get on a ship.
[00:50:07] Speaker F: I thought that was just what people did around here.
[00:50:11] Speaker B: Beyond me. I am absolutely mental.
You know, before. Before you came out here, she was just like trying to scrape the SAP off of me. I think she's absolutely bar me.
[00:50:26] Speaker F: Does she not know about like baths?
Baffling. Absolutely baffling.
Right.
[00:50:35] Speaker B: But you know, you know, old strokes and all that.
[00:50:43] Speaker F: I think whether.
Whether we want to or not, we'll end up where the world wants us. And other people just like to fight against it a bit more, I suppose.
[00:51:00] Speaker B: Here. Well, I'm just gonna see where it go. I just need to get on that island now. I gotta see what's going on over there.
[00:51:10] Speaker F: Well, we make it through the storm and I'll owe your smoke.
[00:51:17] Speaker B: Yeah. I bet you guys some pretty good stuff.
[00:51:21] Speaker F: Oh, it's crazy.
I've got my own blend.
[00:51:27] Speaker B: See. Eagles and all sorts.
[00:51:30] Speaker F: Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
And I'll just. I'll turn into an eagle and I'll take a drag. What?
[00:51:41] Speaker A: In best use of a stress ever. Yeah. Yeah.
Okay. In which case. Yeah, a. Yeah it up the rest of the night.
[00:51:53] Speaker B: A eagle buddy.
[00:51:55] Speaker A: Yeah.
Guardi transforms into this like impressively sized eagle with the crystalline horn jutting from its forehead. And perhaps it's. It's quite peculiar to watch like this large eagle puff your pipe.
But, you know, it seems like GI is perhaps a bit more practiced.
Guardi. Over the space of like your. The time that you spend with Abe.
Actually. Sorry. I'll ask Livy this.
How.
How is Abe feeling? Like what. What emotion is he kind of projecting with this.
Like with now with the time, you know, you're spending time with someone else.
Which is arguably a bit unusual for Abe.
So what.
What emotion? Like, what are you projecting that Guardi might pick up on?
[00:53:07] Speaker B: I think there's always gonna be like a bit of a wall with Abe in general.
I think you see glimmers of him Obviously enjoying Gardi's company because I think they've got quite a lot in common. But then kind of reining himself in and then trying to just be a bit like just trying to emotionally pull himself back a bit because he doesn't really want to.
Complicated feelings about being needed or, you know, being with people and the sort of people not want things from you and they. You want things from them and these just so I think it's. Yeah, I just think he's. You see like Guardi will see glimmers of Abe like kind of actually enjoying himself and then going back to like, you don't know about that.
And I think whenever Guardi is sort of talking about the island and anything to do with keeper communities, he's just kind of brushing it off and being like, oh no, you don't worry about that. It's nothing. Nothing interesting there. Nothing.
Nothing to know about community. Ain't that great?
[00:54:29] Speaker F: Yeah, he's. That's noted and filed away as.
Find out more about that later.
[00:54:38] Speaker A: Okay.
Okay.
Well, yeah, Guardian. So as you pick up on this and sort of like how. How does it. Or does it recolor your perception of Abe?
[00:55:00] Speaker F: I think a little bit. I think he's. He's already seen enough to suspect that there's a. It's a bit of a front that he has.
I think it makes him curious as well. Like he's always felt very much like a part of his people and he's only left because he feels like he has to.
And meeting someone who it seems like has left their. Their own sort of family, as it were, I think that's odd and interesting to him.
[00:55:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
Well, with that thought in your mind. Yes. The two of you continue your larks. A beneathly.
[00:55:50] Speaker B: Can I say for the. My long rest that reduces my stress.
It's very de stressing.
[00:56:00] Speaker A: Absolutely. Well, sorry, I'm just going to pick up rule book and quickly check myself. So we're a long list.
You can choose two of the following moves. So, yeah, I guess what's. What two things are.
[00:56:12] Speaker B: I'm de stressing.
[00:56:14] Speaker A: Yes. Clearing your stress.
[00:56:16] Speaker B: Clearing my stress. And I think during the conversations and stuff, Abe is. Abe doesn't wear armor.
He is bare bones.
But he will be patching up his armor probably just. He just kind of gets. Just imagine just getting out like a little sewing box and just kind of sewing his like shorts, you know, just kind of doing that and then just kind of. Just a bit of a sort of spit wipe for any cuts and bruises. You know, he's probably got cut on his forehead from headbutting too many people. So kind of just kind of, you know, given that bit of a wipe down.
[00:56:54] Speaker A: And what downtime activities is Gardi doing? And I think as you.
You've chosen one of the majority.
[00:57:07] Speaker F: Celestial trance, baby.
[00:57:09] Speaker A: You get an additional downtime move.
So what are your three times?
[00:57:17] Speaker F: Let's see that there's there one that we can get hope, actually.
[00:57:22] Speaker A: So you can tend to your wounds, clear your stress, repair your armor, prepare which gives you hope and work on a project.
[00:57:32] Speaker F: So I think the.
The. The chat and chill with Abe and then the. The following trance that is maybe a little enhanced by a good deal of.
A good deal of bite.
So you have cleared stress.
And I will gain hope and heal, I think, and leave my armor a little bit battered.
[00:58:00] Speaker A: Amazing.
Fantastic. Okay, so that's the two of you boxed off between Nate, Georgia and Fia. Who wants to jump into the spotlight next?
[00:58:17] Speaker C: I can go.
[00:58:19] Speaker A: Good. I go.
[00:58:21] Speaker C: I feel like this would have been before we got on the boat.
[00:58:25] Speaker A: Turn off the storm.
[00:58:28] Speaker C: I feel like this would have got happened before getting on the boat. Sort of like the night like we like both Griffin and Cooper had spoken to.
[00:58:39] Speaker D: Kick friend.
[00:58:40] Speaker C: Is that his name?
[00:58:41] Speaker A: Kick friend? Yeah.
[00:58:45] Speaker C: There.
There would have been some fixing of his armor probably, you know, sort of getting sewing kit out and sewing on another patch onto his. Onto whatever he wears his jacket.
So I'm gonna clear all of my armor slots for that and also gonna do a prepare as well to gain some hope. But hopefully doing a prepare with Cooper so that both of us can gain two hope.
[00:59:20] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:59:24] Speaker B: Dan says through gritted taste.
[00:59:28] Speaker A: It's not that I don't like the fact that you like have h.
No. Okay, that's cool.
So you're kind of mainly focusing on.
Yeah. The.
The time after the meeting at the end of the. The last session.
[00:59:45] Speaker C: Yes, yes, yes.
[00:59:48] Speaker A: Yeah. Were there any.
Were there any sort of like conversations that we want to zoom in on?
[00:59:56] Speaker C: What sort of like between Griffin and Cooper or anything else?
[00:59:59] Speaker A: Well, between Griffin and anyone.
[01:00:05] Speaker C: I think Griffin is gonna have a chat with. Well, obviously in the prepare sort of chat with Cooper, Cooper is probably just sort of polishing his. His crossbow and just making sure there's all fit.
[01:00:19] Speaker F: And.
[01:00:19] Speaker C: And Griffin's just there fixing his armor in Cooper's room, wherever he's staying. Totally not invited. Just sitting there with him.
[01:00:30] Speaker B: Just brought his blankie.
[01:00:31] Speaker D: He sleeps on the floor.
It's asleep over.
[01:00:37] Speaker E: Yay.
[01:00:42] Speaker B: So Coop, how do you.
[01:00:44] Speaker C: How. How do you know him?
You know, this. This Kick Fran.
[01:00:50] Speaker D: Oh, well, my holiday, as it has been a holiday. But I've just been waiting for Kickran to basically show up and assign me my next job. I finished a job. I was told to come here.
I didn't know too much about it. I just know I'm collecting something, like you heard.
But yeah, it's. It's a big job. It will cover me financially for a bit and I can, you know, not have to do rubbish remedial jobs, so.
And stayed heard from the pirates. I was a good shot, so they felt like me going on the island was a good idea, but again, I didn't know when it was going to happen or anything, so just kind of been lounging around, which is fine for a bit, but I do like to keep moving, you know, stay in one place for too long. You get a bit sedentary.
[01:01:51] Speaker C: Yeah, I know, I know. I know that feeling. I don't like to stick around too long anywhere.
Yeah, but it's been cool hanging out with you and it's called we're going to the island.
[01:02:02] Speaker D: Yeah. But does sound like we might be going to a different place than everyone else. Or at least that's where the mission is. So at some point I might have to talk to.
To Cass and just kind of explain like, hey, so we need to go somewhere else. Would you like to come with or are we going to leave you here because you're an insane person?
I don't know. We'll see. We'll see what happens.
[01:02:28] Speaker C: Can I. Can I.
Can I ask you something, Cooper?
[01:02:33] Speaker A: Sure.
Like what.
[01:02:37] Speaker C: What happened between you and Cass?
I like generally just like what happened.
[01:02:47] Speaker A: You know.
[01:02:50] Speaker D: It'S just. It's complicated.
You know, we had a really good time together. I. I was hired by her and her family when I was probably a bit younger than you to kind of help with their expeditions. They used to a lot of like traveling around and looking at artifacts and, you know, exploring scientific, magical advancements. And this was before the war, before all this kicked off and we got close and yeah, it was. It was a really good time. And you can tell as he talks, he does generally mean what he's saying.
But then she just became very obsessive over the work.
And I really like. I love watching her get excited about the work she does, but it got to a point where I couldn't feel like I could protect her and she didn't listen to me and I had to make a decision so I, I took it and it. It. We just. It. We just completely lost sight of whatever our relationship was.
[01:04:07] Speaker A: And.
[01:04:10] Speaker D: So I left, which is probably quite a cowardly thing to do, but.
[01:04:18] Speaker C: Yeah, no, I.
I get it. I get it. Like, sometimes you do have to leave when you don't feel like things are right.
But, like.
Like, that was ages ago now. Do you think.
You think things could be different? Like, she's here now. There must be, like, death left, Destiny, fate. Maybe it's something.
[01:04:43] Speaker D: I'm not sure it's that.
Honestly, kid, I don't know. I don't want her to get hurt, obviously. And I don't like the idea that she's going to an island which is well known for lots of horrors.
And if I can help, I will. But I don't know.
It'd be nice if we at least are on speaking terms again. Like that would be nice.
I guess we'll just have to see.
But I don't. I can't watch her get the white obsessive again. That was insane last time.
[01:05:27] Speaker C: Well, maybe we can do both.
Maybe we could do your mission and. And also look out for her. Look out for all of them.
[01:05:37] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:05:38] Speaker C: I mean, a probably doesn't need us looking out for him, but I think.
[01:05:41] Speaker D: Abe will be fine. To be honest, he's. He's a great big lad. I'm sure he can take care of himself.
[01:05:48] Speaker C: But maybe he needs looking out in the friendship area.
[01:05:52] Speaker D: That's not really my department. That's your department. So, you know, let's.
[01:05:56] Speaker C: That's.
[01:05:56] Speaker D: That's that schema project. You become friends of Abe. I'll try to make up with. With Cass.
And we still do this mission and we help everyone. I think that sounds like a good plan. Good. Good way to go forward.
[01:06:09] Speaker C: Yeah, let's do that.
[01:06:11] Speaker D: And I need to ask Gardy what else he can turn into, because that was insane.
[01:06:15] Speaker C: Yeah. I rode on his back. Did you see that?
[01:06:18] Speaker D: I. Well, I was kind of arguing with Cast the type. I did kind of see it. That was incredible.
[01:06:22] Speaker B: It was cool.
[01:06:23] Speaker D: Absolutely incredible. Yeah.
God. Magic. Also, I need to ask Cass because I didn't know she could do any of those magical powers, so that's a conversation I've got to have with her.
[01:06:34] Speaker A: Wow. Yeah.
[01:06:36] Speaker C: I've been meaning to talk to her about that. Maybe sometime. I haven't fully introduced myself to her yet. Do you think she knows my name?
[01:06:44] Speaker D: I don't. I don't know. She has a vibe.
Particularly at the moment. I just don't. I don't know.
[01:06:50] Speaker C: What do you think? It's a good fight.
[01:06:52] Speaker D: I hope so.
We'll see.
[01:06:59] Speaker A: Cooper as that as a sort of like little interaction brings itself to a close and there's a, unusual for Griffin period of silence, like just a moment of silence where you're able to kind of collect some of your thoughts.
Your mind reaches back to something that Griffin said a little while back when he agreed the way that he agreed with you about not staying in one place at the same time.
And you obviously have your reasons for always moving, but you feel like there's some, there's some sort of different reasoning going on in Griffin's mind.
Sure. Is it something that, like, as it comes to the front, as it comes to your attention, is it something that you ask or are you happy to just ponder on it?
[01:08:13] Speaker D: I'm not sure.
I think Cooper's been quite open with Griffin. I think like they, they formed a. I think at first it was a more Griffin friends of Cooper friendship. And that's completely valid.
I think, you know, as, as the days have gone on. He's valid, valued Griffin's company and time and he's never been malicious. And I think that's something that Cooper appreciates as someone who is just themselves.
So it's odd to think that Griffin hasn't actually revealed these things already. It feels like something he would have said like, oh, I was from here, but I didn't want to do that. So. So I guess like him having explained this maybe is interesting to Cooper to hear more, more of his life before Cooper might just kind of prompt slightly of just like.
Yeah, well, I, we know I have lots of reasons to run around and get out of trouble and not be in places at once. But what, what about you? I mean, you're very friendly, very affable. You're very good at playing music.
[01:09:21] Speaker A: I'm surprised.
[01:09:22] Speaker D: No, you know, local tavern has snapped you up for like a long term gig, you know.
Why, why move around so much?
[01:09:33] Speaker C: You can see Griffin be slightly hesitant to answer this.
I, it's, I mean since the Escaton, like it's a, it's a whole new world, isn't it? Like, who wouldn't want to go and explore it? I can't, I can't be.
I want to meet people. I wanna, I wanna see all these new lands that we never had access to.
I, I wouldn't be able to be tied down to a tavern or something like that.
There's too much to see. Now.
[01:10:08] Speaker D: Dan, do I believe that?
[01:10:11] Speaker A: You tell me.
[01:10:13] Speaker D: I'm not sure I do.
But Cooper will take care of it on face value.
He has no reason to not believe it. I think there's probably some truth to that.
[01:10:24] Speaker C: I.
The feeling you probably get is that there's truth to it.
He's not lying.
He's just not telling the whole truth.
[01:10:34] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:10:34] Speaker D: Keeper will not then in agreement and let. Let.
Let that lie and let him think about that some more.
[01:10:41] Speaker A: Okay.
In which case.
So between the two of you, have you both. Have you both done your two downtime activities?
[01:10:53] Speaker C: I've done my two, but Cooper.
[01:10:54] Speaker D: Yeah. So I think while we're talking, I think Coop will be fixing his armor because his armor caught covered in spore juice or whatever, if you want to call it. So it's like cleaning it off and buffering it off and making sure the patch is. Are good.
So I'll clear his armor.
Also, I have a unique hope feature that I want to implement going forward because I don't have to do it per long rest, but I think it makes sense to do it now just in case. So I can spend three hope to gain a plus two bonus to my evasion until the next time an attack succeeds against me. Otherwise the bonus lasts until my next rest.
[01:11:35] Speaker A: So.
[01:11:35] Speaker D: So my evasion will go up to 17, which is very useful.
[01:11:40] Speaker A: You d your bravado armor.
[01:11:43] Speaker D: Yes. But that also means because of the project, whilst I spend three, I actually gain two, so I've still got five hope.
[01:11:50] Speaker A: Sure.
[01:11:52] Speaker B: So yeah, see your summation goes up. He just put on a balaclava basically.
[01:11:58] Speaker D: I feel like he's just been greasy.
[01:12:01] Speaker A: Sing up.
[01:12:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:12:07] Speaker A: Okay.
In which case, yeah, perhaps we then kind of flash back to the present and Griffin as you. Sorry.
Well, Cooper and Griffin, perhaps Cooper, you're kind of pseudo daydreaming about that conversation you had with Griffin because Ellas mirror is not being particularly talkative and she keeps on taking out her. Her like hearing gems.
And yeah, Griffin, you just notice that these pirates are just. They're just not really conversationalists.
Not like Cooper was so rude. So rude.
[01:12:50] Speaker C: He understands they're busy.
[01:12:52] Speaker D: We love things too.
[01:12:54] Speaker A: Last but not least, where are we zooming in on Cassandra's long rest?
[01:13:02] Speaker E: I think Cassandra would have spent at least one of her long rest points on determining if this. This hard won SAP that she's found through her extensive research of world magic and of the eschaton, if it can tell her anything about what they're about to find on the island.
[01:13:23] Speaker A: Cool.
[01:13:24] Speaker E: And about what she particularly is seeking.
[01:13:26] Speaker A: There is that like, are you for all excellence purposes starting like a project maybe?
[01:13:33] Speaker E: Yeah, it would be a project okay.
[01:13:37] Speaker A: It's convoy involved. Progress countdown.
Really good. Really good.
Okay.
What, like, what ability are you using? Are you attaching any experiences or something?
[01:13:54] Speaker E: Yes, I was just trying to find my experiences.
I say researcher probably goes quite well. And also she is law born.
[01:14:05] Speaker A: She is law born. That is very true. You also has an advantage that gives you advantage on history, culture, and politics of a prominent person or place.
But I probably won't help it.
[01:14:19] Speaker E: But I think research.
[01:14:20] Speaker A: Definitely.
[01:14:21] Speaker E: Yeah, definitely.
[01:14:23] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:14:24] Speaker B: I've got like a miniature centrifuge in your backpack.
[01:14:29] Speaker E: Spinning it.
[01:14:30] Speaker B: Spinning it.
She is the centrifuge.
[01:14:40] Speaker A: Okay. I. If you spend the hope for the experience.
I.
And then by all means, go ahead and roll and then add +2 for your researcher experience.
[01:14:52] Speaker E: So what should I just. Just roll?
[01:14:55] Speaker A: I think if it's. If you're researching, if you're like, you are fundamentally sort of like investigating and so on and so forth, that's gotta come under the purview of knowledge and recall. Analyze, comprehend.
[01:15:11] Speaker B: Cool.
[01:15:13] Speaker A: So knowledge roll and then plus two.
That's a grit.
Oh, lovely.
I think. Yeah. It is a crit.
[01:15:21] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay.
[01:15:22] Speaker A: So you can clear an additional stress and you gain your hope back.
[01:15:27] Speaker E: Oh, brilliant. Because I had no hope left.
[01:15:30] Speaker A: Yeah. So you gain your hope back.
So what you notice as you.
As you're sort of inspecting this SAP that you painstakingly scraped off? Abe, thanks to your sorceress origins, you also have an innate arcane sense.
[01:15:53] Speaker E: Oh, yeah, of course. I can tell if something is magical.
[01:15:56] Speaker A: And divine, and you recognize that there is a strong primal, like, magic mana. There's primal mana flowing through this SAP.
Well, effectively, it's almost like to look at it, you tell you what, you notice that in the same way that, like, arcane mana and to an extent, divine mana can crystallize and become like managers, much like the manager in your pistol, the SAP, now that it's hardened, has a very, very similar.
Similar property to an arcane gem.
To the point where you ponder.
You know, is SAP the equivalent of like, is it. Has this SAP fundamentally become, like, fossilized primal manner?
Because it's thrumming with it. It's really. It's really potent. But on a crit, you also acknowledge that there is a slight arcane tinge to it as well.
It's a mix which is arguably somewhat unusual.
[01:17:25] Speaker E: Yeah, I think Cass wouldn't have been expecting that.
[01:17:27] Speaker A: No.
You.
So tell you what. What. What question would you like to ask about, like, from your investigation?
[01:17:44] Speaker E: I think she.
She just wants to know as much as she can. About the two spirits or the two gods living on this island. She wants to know as much as she can, I suppose. She wants to know if its origin. If the origin of what attacked them at the marketplace is to do with these two creatures that she's trying to find.
[01:18:07] Speaker A: Well, I'll let you decide. I'll let you tell me whether it is, in fact, linked to the. The world spirits or not.
So. Oh, yeah, I'll let you give me the a nay, and then we'll go from there.
[01:18:26] Speaker E: I think it's kind of a mixed answer.
Yes, but also no. It's like something has spiked it.
This arcane presence, so she can sense. It's like something else has come into the magic as well.
So it's not a straight answer of yes, you have been attacked by these creatures. It's a.
The magic may come from there as origin, but something else has also handled it.
[01:18:51] Speaker A: Sure. Okay. Yeah, I can. I can run with that. You. Yeah. You absolutely acknowledge that the primal mana, like, from your. From the research that you will have done, you know that the two world spirits on the islands, Facer and Burunan, are heavily kind of aspected into fire and ice.
And you can see that the like, in effect, the mana that flows through much in the same way that, like, light is comprised of various kind of wavelengths, it all combines into one. But you can kind of pick out the different kind of flavors of light, if you will.
There's. There's definite, like, resonance of, like, a fiery temperament and an icy temperament combined into this primal manner.
But I think you're right in that you feel like it is spiked in some way, perhaps by the presence of this arcane mana that is running through it.
Now, arguably, that's kind of worrying because, like, is the arcane manner a cause or a symptom that you can't tell from the SAP that you have in your hand, but you know that it. It is acting as this cat, this extra that shouldn't be there.
But whatever has happened, the primal mana contained within this chunk of SAP that you have is almost more than the great is more than the.
Is greater than the sum of its parts.
It's become something else.
[01:20:44] Speaker E: I think Cass spent most of last night writing this down in her notebooks.
[01:20:52] Speaker A: And perhaps, maybe we smash cut to the present, where, at the front of the ship, you glance up at the purple lightning peeling overhead, and you can't help but feel that tingle down your neck every time the light the sky illuminates with lightning, because you can feel almost like A burst of primal and arcane mana ripple like scorch through the air.
Is there anyone that you were speaking to or were you kind of keeping yourself to yourself? Slash. What's your second?
[01:21:42] Speaker E: I think Cassie's second one was just healing her hit points.
[01:21:47] Speaker A: Sure.
[01:21:48] Speaker E: She was smacked down pretty hard by those flowers.
[01:21:51] Speaker A: Yes, yes.
[01:21:53] Speaker B: Who knows? Some nasty flowers.
[01:21:55] Speaker E: Oh, nasty bellies.
[01:21:57] Speaker A: Okay. In which case, yeah, Cass, as you kind of look up and you wonder like, seemingly like a puzzle piece slots into place.
But the, the overall picture of the mystery is still a bit.
Yes, still too many gaps to know for sure.
But there's one more piece slots into slots into place. And like another crack of thunder rips overhead.
You hear a voice cry out from above you.
And as you turn sort of like shield your face against the. The hammering storm you got, you glance up to the crow's nest of the ship and there is this poor, poor little orange sprite desperately like clinging on to the crow's nest for dear life.
But like, you can see her shouting something and like you, her voice is masked by the sound of the rain and the thunder. But like there's a moment where she. You see her breathe deep and then shout out Land.
[01:23:15] Speaker B: Land.
[01:23:16] Speaker A: She shouts out over the storm.
And at the sound of her cries being heard, you watch as the. The crew suddenly burst into a activity. As they begin hurrying around making sure that the ship isn't going to accidentally maroon itself on the. On the land, you can see sort of like rigging starts getting on like wound and unwound.
And as you look back down the the ship sort of peering into the. The purple gloom, you can see striding from the double doors at the. At the rear of the ship, the imposing figure of Boss Ungrana steps out onto the deck. And like, as the rain slams into his face, he is absolutely unmoved.
Perhaps worryingly, you watch him almost sort of like run his hands over the handle of his pistol and the handle of his cutlass.
Like he just kind of rubs his hands down them and then sort of like looks like surveys the scene and then ascends up to like the navigation deck and takes control of the wheel, like the steering, the steering wheel and like, as you. You feel the boat lurch as he pulls it into a hard left to sort of like slot slow the advance towards. And you can now see like the sides of the island emerging from the gloom. And somewhat dexter, like deftly, Boss Angrina manages to sort of like pull the ship and maneuver in such a way that it doesn't collide with any of the jutting rocks emerging from the roiling sea.
You hear the clatter of chains. You all hear the clatter of chains as the anchor is released.
And it doesn't need to go far before it impacts into the the seabed.
And you feel the like a, a large wave washes up to like washes up one side of the ship rocking you one way. Then the anchor pulls it taut and pulls it back into place. A second anchor is dropped, truly mooring the ship down.
And yeah Cass, as you peer out you can make out what appears to be a beach.
And the other four of you as you hear cries from the pie. The the crew that land has been found.
As you all begin filtering up onto the deck having reached your destination.
We're gonna go on a quick break.
So yeah quick 10 minute break. We will be back at just after 10 past 9.
I would love if you could tell you what chat you tell me. You come up with ideas of what horrendous things await our adventurers when they make landfall and then I'll see.
Yeah if, if they're dastardly enough then perhaps that's exactly what's going to happen.
[01:26:32] Speaker B: In the second half beach trip, isn't it? Tiki bar.
[01:26:41] Speaker A: So yes if you are. Thank you for everyone who's watching. If you are enjoying it, make sure to subscribe. If you haven't like and like if you haven't already, join the Discord. We can start getting some, some theories and uh, speculation going in the Discord and if you're really, really enjoying it. Yeah consider becoming a member on YouTube. Patreon. Joining a Patreon is for the same benefits. Just get extra access on the Discord. Right. We're gonna go on a 10 minute break. We were back at about 9:13.
We'll see you then.
Hello and welcome back everyone to Explorers of Elsewhere live the Titan Isles.
If you have just joined. Hello, welcome. I'm DM Dan. I'm joined by Nate, Libby, Georgia, Theo and Tim. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and yeah. We are plunging into the second half of our fourth session in this campaign.
So to really quickly recap you, you have just, you've just arrived via pirate vessel on the shores of the titular Titan Isles.
There's a.
You're. You're currently overseeing this flurry of activity from the, from the crew members as they make as they kind of moor the ship up as secure as they can to stop it being buffeted too badly by the, the, the kind of purple storm that's raging overhead.
And yes, you're it.
Who's happy that you're. There are no like dinghies like rowboats to take you to the. The beach head.
In fact you're. You've just got to sort of like jump overboard and swim the last kind of 50m or so swim.
Yes. Because the. To lower the rowboats in even at this like. But that's with the robots. The robots. No, they probably wouldn't be pancake too hard, would they?
No. Yeah. I will say there. There are rowboats.
So yes, the rowboats are lowered and the. The five of you make your way presumably in three separate rowboats.
Griffin, Cooper, Bezzies, Cassandra and Gardy, the explorers and Abe on his own one.
[01:29:29] Speaker B: He's going so much faster than everyone else as well.
[01:29:32] Speaker A: Yes, you. You. So you make it up onto the. The beach of the.
Of the isles.
And let's start with.
Tell you what if Abe is the one running the fastest. You've got a big long arms as you.
As you make it onto the beach and sort of like pull.
Pull your rowboat up onto the sand. It's still like the sky is still a deep violet overhead like in an indigo almost.
And like it feels like the rain.
The. The rain isn't relenting. It feels like a thousand tiny fists just constantly pummeling into the back of your head and your shoulders.
But as you glance around, what's the. What's the first thing you notice on this beach front that takes your notice?
[01:30:49] Speaker B: Question. Has Abe been to this beach? Part of.
[01:30:55] Speaker A: I.
You tell me.
[01:31:01] Speaker B: Which part of the island are we on?
[01:31:03] Speaker E: West.
[01:31:04] Speaker A: So you are on if I say what if I open up the Titan Arms map.
[01:31:10] Speaker B: Beautiful.
[01:31:13] Speaker A: So you lot are Drover.
So you lot are. Oh, not there.
[01:31:25] Speaker B: We're not there.
[01:31:26] Speaker A: You've headed up into okay, this bay.
So to scroll out a little bit here is doorless all down in the. In the southern bay. And you would usually be sailing sort of like due west into this. This kind of area. But yeah, now you've gone almost. You've slightly north northwest.
In fact maybe you're probably just to the like before this river mouth. So yeah, you may landfall about here. So yeah, you tell me.
[01:32:08] Speaker B: No, I don't think Abe's been to this part, particularly this part.
He's very used to the west coast. West coast represent and he.
What is striking to him is that there are.
It doesn't fall directly into forest and he just assumed that most of it would fall directly onto forest because that's what he's been so it's quite, it's actually quite barren.
[01:32:41] Speaker A: Yeah.
By comparison for sure.
[01:32:44] Speaker B: By comparison. Yeah. Yeah. It's more perhaps marshlandy a bit more.
[01:32:50] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:32:52] Speaker B: Kind of a boggy a bit still wet on the foot but everything's wet. We're all wet. Our life is now wet.
So he's kind of looking to find shelter because he's just kind of got on. He's soaking wet. He's trying to put his. His first thought is I need to put my boat somewhere so it stays dry.
And he's just kind of looking around like why isn't there anywhere to put my boat? Anywhere that it's not going to sink or get rotten. He doesn't know how long we're going to be here so he's kind of just desperately looking for somewhere that he can stash the boat.
His boat. The others can do what they like with their boats but his boat he wants to stash somewhere that isn't going to get rotted underneath.
[01:33:44] Speaker A: Okay.
I reckon. Which, which, which skill are you rolling out for this A strength.
[01:33:59] Speaker B: I'd say instinct.
[01:34:02] Speaker A: Okay yeah I can get behind that instinctually.
Please roll me an instinct. If you want to spend hope on any experiences you may have please do.
[01:34:11] Speaker B: A.
I would like to use my experience of self sufficiency efficient as being very good at finding things to sustain himself.
Okay so let's do instinct.
Nor was going to have a plus two to it.
[01:34:34] Speaker A: 1111 with fear. 1170 unlike like you losing your first you lose your flint and now you lose your robot.
[01:34:49] Speaker B: No he just puts in his bog.
[01:34:55] Speaker A: So you annoying with fear. In actual fact you know what?
As you attempt to sort of like pull your ship up onto shore shore to find some and you're looking around for somewhere to sort like moor the ship the rowboat to you feel like the, the mulchy the sandy grounds that was the sand underfoot. Your hooves sink into it like unexpectedly as the tide wrenches your rowboat out of hand.
And the other four of you, you watch as like as you're coming into more on the the beach as well. You watch as Abe's robot fundamentally almost like soars at you and then like a wave catches it from the side. And you watch as this rowboat is lifted out of the water and flung and shatters across one of the jutting rocks on the beachfront like he was.
[01:36:06] Speaker D: Having the worst day.
[01:36:09] Speaker A: And yeah Abe, you're like, you have to like proper put all of your focus into pulling your legs out of the Slurping sand.
[01:36:20] Speaker B: He's a heavy man. Sinking. Sinking sand is not. Yeah, it's not. Abe's best friend.
[01:36:27] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:36:28] Speaker B: He just gets one in, and then he lifts that one out, takes set four, and then the other one goes in.
[01:36:35] Speaker D: You.
[01:36:36] Speaker A: Yeah. You watch as this. This rowboat is reduced to splinters as it crashes, like, dashes itself across one of these rocks.
Whose.
Tell you what. Let's go for guardian. Cass in your.
Your rowboat like as you make as you pull up onto the shore, what's the first thing that you notice.
[01:37:07] Speaker F: As we see Abe's boat obliterated? I'm like, are these things single use?
[01:37:14] Speaker C: Then.
[01:37:18] Speaker E: I think we need to get out of this one.
[01:37:20] Speaker F: Yeah, boss.
[01:37:23] Speaker B: Ungruder, don't charge by the boat.
[01:37:29] Speaker F: Look, I'm not gonna lie to you. I can turn into a fish, but I don't think that's gonna help you much. So let's.
Let's stick together and get through this. All right?
[01:37:38] Speaker B: Wait. All of this is sinking sand?
Everywhere I'm touching as far as I can touch.
[01:37:50] Speaker F: Can I pull on some of my nomadic experience to try and navigate my way a safe path through the salt marsh?
[01:38:04] Speaker A: You can. What. What ability are you rolling me out?
[01:38:09] Speaker B: Instinct. I assume that's for like.
[01:38:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:38:12] Speaker B: Tracking and wayfinding.
[01:38:14] Speaker A: Yeah, let's. Let's say that.
[01:38:17] Speaker F: Sweet. All right.
And I'll spend my. My experience.
[01:38:22] Speaker A: Just to check. Just check real quickly. Chris in chat has asked, are you still an eagle or have you reverted back to vagina?
[01:38:31] Speaker F: That was last night. That was last night.
[01:38:34] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:38:34] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:38:35] Speaker F: Now I've just got a little bit of a post eagle headache.
[01:38:42] Speaker A: Okay. Yes. Instinct and. Yeah. But spend the hope if you want to roll in one of your experiences.
[01:38:47] Speaker F: I don't want that.
See this plus 2:17 with hope.
[01:38:58] Speaker A: Okay.
You are able to.
So. So you were looking to navigate your way onto like a safe.
[01:39:07] Speaker F: Yeah. To lead like Cass. And ideally Abe, if he's close enough as well, to at least an area that's dry enough that we can stand there without being in immediate peril of death.
[01:39:17] Speaker A: Sure.
Yes. You are able to spot like. And it's.
It's. It's a bit more.
Perhaps they're sort of like sea reads kind of poking out what look like sea reads poking out of the water surface. And you know that sort of like moing the ship in around there, they will give you a bit more extra purchase to stop.
Like the reeds will kind of stop anything from sinking too badly. Like the. The ground is like your. Your hunch you have. You work on a hunch. It pays off and you're able to pull your ship onto the shore successfully.
[01:39:55] Speaker F: And then I'll.
[01:39:57] Speaker A: And tick up your hope, if you haven't already.
[01:40:00] Speaker F: I just, I. I haven't taken it off yet for.
[01:40:02] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:40:03] Speaker F: The experience. So it's all worked out.
And then I will use the druid wild touch and create a little. Just like a little flame in my hand so that Cooper and Cooper and Griffin can see where we are.
[01:40:21] Speaker A: Are you going to do like, if you wave it around your head like a lighthouse?
[01:40:27] Speaker F: It's worth a try.
[01:40:30] Speaker A: Okay. In which case, if you're doing that. Hello, Mark. Over in Twitch.
I've. I've got a little something something for you in a moment.
Just before we get to that, Griffin and Cooper, you are in the last rowboat trying to make it up onto the shore.
You notice that Guardi is sort of like there's this.
There's this flame in Gardi's hand, desperately trying to stay alight in the. The buffeting storm. But I'm gonna say whatever it is you want to do, you're gonna have advantage on it.
Yeah. Between the two of you, what's the first thing that you notice as you make landfall?
[01:41:19] Speaker D: Personally, I think what's interesting is obviously the. The boggy marshland, but because of the way that the water is hitting it create. It creates fog.
Like, it's so hard to see past the initial marshland because the water is. There's so much of it. It's basically like kind of fog screen.
[01:41:40] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:41:41] Speaker D: Because of the way the. And I. I think it's probably quite warm as well. That adds against that kind of foggy, misty nature. It is warm.
[01:41:50] Speaker A: Rain is the weirdest.
[01:41:52] Speaker D: It really is. Yes.
[01:41:54] Speaker A: Okay. It is very warm. Yes. And in actual fact, back then, I would argue because of the fog, it's almost kind of a loom because it's giving that kind of glow, that out of focus glow to Guardi's finger torch.
Yeah. No, there's a thick, thick fog. I like that.
Between the two of you, how are you. Like, how are you going about making landfall? Like what, what abilities are you rolling out?
[01:42:22] Speaker D: You got anything, Griffin?
[01:42:25] Speaker C: I've got something to keep the boat in place, but we've got to get there first. That's.
[01:42:30] Speaker A: No, that's fine. Yeah.
Yeah. If that's, if that's the thing that you're doing. What, what's, what's the plan there?
[01:42:36] Speaker C: I would like to use time lock to just lock the boat in place. I don't have to roll anything.
It's just if a creature tries to move it, I then have to do a spell cast.
[01:42:47] Speaker D: Roll.
[01:42:48] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:42:50] Speaker D: But it will move after a short.
[01:42:53] Speaker A: Rest, so it will just.
[01:42:57] Speaker E: Park.
[01:42:59] Speaker C: Just kind of. Griffin just sort of does this. He goes, stay.
[01:43:06] Speaker A: It's good.
[01:43:07] Speaker C: It's good.
[01:43:08] Speaker F: Hopefully a fish doesn't bump into it or something.
[01:43:11] Speaker B: Yeah.
Park the car with the brake, but with the. Without the handbrake on.
[01:43:16] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah.
[01:43:16] Speaker B: Like, it'll be fine. Just rolls.
[01:43:19] Speaker F: Okay.
[01:43:20] Speaker A: So you use time. I'm picturing. This is straight up the. Like the. The time lock ability from Tears of the Kingdom to show the chains just burst out of it. The golden chains.
Okay, right. You. You okay? Yeah, fine. You managed to time lock. Lock your ship in place, like, follow. You manage to follow Guardi's directions, and then you lock up the ship.
And as the five of you sort of like, take a few steps up, away from the water's edge, which I. I should say is sort of like crashing backwards and forwards onto the shore with, like, an insistent rhythm, you.
The five of you turn and watch as the vessel that you just sailed in, on, which Mark songs over in Twitch, was the only person to give us a ship name that wasn't Boaty McBoat face or Shippy McShip face.
So you watch as the intrepid hoists anchor heels away from where you are, getting some distance from the island.
[01:44:39] Speaker D: And Stan, I have a question.
That is mirror with us.
Did she get off? Did she join us?
Or did she just, like, go? I'm just here for the journey. Bye, guys.
[01:44:51] Speaker F: Waving.
[01:44:55] Speaker B: Swelling some wine. She seems constantly. Me too.
[01:44:59] Speaker F: Turns around, she's, like, clinging to his back with a wine glass.
He's been there the whole time.
[01:45:08] Speaker A: I. I think curiously, she did, in fact, stay on the ship.
[01:45:17] Speaker B: No great loss.
[01:45:17] Speaker F: Okay.
[01:45:18] Speaker A: It's just the five.
Just the five of you. Just the five of you on.
[01:45:23] Speaker E: Completely ambivalent about this.
[01:45:30] Speaker A: So, yes, you watch as the intrepid sort of like, lists away from the islands as boss Unrena pulls it away from the coast.
Like he said, as you were getting ready to leave, it was to make sure that the. The boat doesn't get unexpectedly dashed on the rocks.
But I can only imagine there is a small part of you all that worries that hopes that he is in fact coming back for you. As the ship kind of disappears into the fog that surrounds the coast of the isles.
[01:46:06] Speaker C: I was gonna ask that, like, with this place, does that look like.
Does it look like that people? Because obviously the Pirates are gonna. Going back and forth quite regularly when there's not a storm really happening. Does it look like they actually use this area? Like, is there anything like a. Like a small dock or any sort of poles in the ground that show that they tie their bows to it or have they literally gone like. Yeah, they'll be fine there.
[01:46:30] Speaker A: Go on, off you go. That'll do.
Roll me.
Tell you, tell me what ability you're using to find out this information. And like that is in so much as it could be instinct because you're looking for it, or it could be presence because you asked someone about it.
You know that however you want to approach this.
[01:47:01] Speaker C: Yeah, I'll, I'll do a presence.
Not because it's my highest stat, I'll do a presence. Just probably asking someone on the boat kind of saying like, oh, is this a. Is this a regular place you stop off at? You know, is there going to be anywhere that we can type our boats? Is there going to be anyone welcoming us with little flower necklaces and a.
[01:47:25] Speaker A: Mai Tai when we get there?
[01:47:31] Speaker D: Roll the presents.
[01:47:33] Speaker C: Normal.
[01:47:36] Speaker A: 22 with a little hope.
22 with a little hope.
Very good.
They're absolutely there. Absolutely is. So this is definitely somewhere where they've set up. Like, is one of their more regular landing spots. Perhaps that kind of gives you some solace. You know, why they didn't just chuck you on the. The edge of the cape kind of thing and instead kind of came into the bay a bit more to drop you off by the mouth of this river.
And whilst the outpost isn't particularly large, it is still, it is sh. Sheltered enough that you notice that it has survived the elements.
So are you going to inspect it, Griffin?
[01:48:33] Speaker C: Yes. I think he's going to try and get out of the. Out of the rain as much as he can.
[01:48:39] Speaker A: Okay.
As you have a little rummage through this, like, effectively, it's like a little shack of sorts with a couple of storage crates.
You find two potions.
I'll let you decide what they either like potion of healing or potion of stamina. I'll let you decide which and which. And then obviously you can hand them out. And you've off on the back of a success. Such a good success role.
Yeah. You've been given free reign to these potions.
Awesome.
The pirate that told you about them wasn't entirely sure whether they would still be edible or like usable, but they, they look like they are.
[01:49:29] Speaker C: Yeah. I think I'll do one of each. Then I'll have a help do one of each.
[01:49:34] Speaker F: Yeah.
[01:49:35] Speaker A: No, not both.
[01:49:36] Speaker C: Now I'll keep them, but there will be. It'll be one for stamina and one for healing.
[01:49:41] Speaker A: Sure.
[01:49:42] Speaker B: Oh, potion.
[01:49:46] Speaker A: This is the Mai Tai I was expecting.
Okay. So, yes, you. You find these two potions.
Let's swing back around to well again if any of you want to sort of like grab the spotlight.
Because fundamentally now you're. You're kind of on your own, both as characters and as players.
So, yeah, you're on the beach. You can see the. The intrepid has kind of sailed off.
Griffin appears to have found some. Some supplies that you weren't quite expecting.
What's your next plan?
Maybe Cass. Yeah.
[01:50:32] Speaker E: Can I see what the landscape is like beyond the beach? So if we were to walk up the beach, is there like a forest, like a tree line? Is it hills, is it scrubland?
[01:50:44] Speaker B: What are we.
[01:50:45] Speaker E: What can we expect to try and shelter us from the storm?
What.
[01:51:00] Speaker A: I reckon tell. If you tell me what you hope you're going to find and then we'll let the dice decide.
[01:51:08] Speaker B: I'll do the opposite.
[01:51:11] Speaker E: I should destroy it for you.
No, I think Cass is. Even though she has this burning desire to see a bloody God.
[01:51:21] Speaker B: No.
[01:51:21] Speaker E: Is letting her see.
[01:51:22] Speaker B: Oh, God.
[01:51:24] Speaker E: Part of her does hope to find some shelter.
So I imagine she's hoping for some trees.
A tree of some kind or like hills where there might be a cave.
[01:51:37] Speaker A: Okay.
Okay.
How. How are you sort of like navigating the party in this moment? As the sky lights up with another.
[01:51:49] Speaker E: Crack of light, I think they just see her turn and start striding up that beach.
[01:51:57] Speaker A: What ability would you like to use to perceive trees?
Yes.
Is I. Instinct.
[01:52:07] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:52:08] Speaker A: I suppose that is Navigate. Yeah. Attracts.
So are you. Are you sort of like just going in a northerly direction? Are you kind of heading. Are you following a river or.
[01:52:20] Speaker E: I imagine she's just. She's heading north up the beach to see what is at the. At the end of the beach. Basically what the landscape is that's immediately around them or in front of them.
[01:52:30] Speaker A: Sure, sure, sure.
Okay. So you've rolled.
[01:52:34] Speaker E: Rolled with hope.
[01:52:37] Speaker A: Okay.
You do in fact find. As you head directly north. Let's switch to the map so everyone can see what's up.
As you head directly north of your position, you find.
You find a river that seemingly runs like it's. It's the river that. And the ends up as a river mouth on this beach.
So let's.
And the. The river seemingly emerges from a tree line and yeah, you meet. You very quickly find that like it's about.
So each of these hexes is approximately a mile, I believe.
Yeah, is a mile.
So the, the walk is about a mile up, you head about a mile up the beach and then you find this tree line kind of wrapping around vaguely kind of following the coast.
So you know, sort of a line like that and then just kind of petering off for the. For the boggy marshland.
Yes.
[01:54:00] Speaker E: Probably isn't the best for shelter against bigger magical storm.
[01:54:07] Speaker A: Probably not.
You suspect not.
Yes. The tree line.
The tree line is there. So if everyone's well hoping everyone is following you.
Yeah. You are able to. To like once you get to the tr. To the tree line you're able to carry on using the river as a bit of a. A navigational tool. As this river kind of snakes through the undergrowth. It's, it's still like the, the storm isn't as oppressive given that you've got like a canopy overhead.
But it is still quite hard going.
The floor, the forest floor like underfoot is covered in sort of like battered fallen wet leaves. It makes the like the ground quite slippery to traverse through.
But at least you're, you know you're largely kind of keeping.
You've got some sense of bearings thanks to the presence of the river.
So that's the tree line just there.
Cool.
Who's next up?
[01:55:30] Speaker B: So we're heading towards. As Cass heading towards the tree line. We're heading into the woodland.
[01:55:36] Speaker A: Yeah. So presumably everyone's kind of heading. Heading north and yeah, you've kind of made it through the. So it's, it's only a couple of miles to make it through the tree line. But yeah you've all. So I'm just going to stack all of your tokens on top of one another.
[01:55:53] Speaker B: They're all just riding a. Yeah.
[01:55:55] Speaker C: One really big long.
[01:55:58] Speaker A: Yes.
So yes you, you basically make it up through the tree line. You're sticking to the eastern side of the river as you make it up through the trees.
Who's.
Who's leading the party beyond like besides Cass, who's keeping an eye out first and foremost?
[01:56:21] Speaker F: I think G certainly will be if, if Cass is letting him get much of a. Have much of a. An opinion on where they're going.
[01:56:32] Speaker E: She probably does trust him as a druid. She does defer to his knowledge on nature in this instance.
[01:56:41] Speaker F: Does it seem like. Is it a familiar kind of habitat around here then? Is it like other trees, ones that I recognize or are they quite different to where we've come from?
[01:56:53] Speaker A: I think I'll say give me a knowledge check.
[01:56:59] Speaker F: Oh.
[01:57:01] Speaker A: And then, by all means, spend the hope for the experience, if you so wish.
[01:57:07] Speaker F: I rolled it now.
11 with fear.
[01:57:24] Speaker A: Gardi. As you like, as you're walking through this forest.
I mean, that map concept, that prospect is something that you've. You're very, very accustomed to, I would imagine, from sort of like home life and so on and so forth.
So there is this deep, unnerving feeling that you get from this sort of like this dark, dingy forest illuminated only by the sort, like the lanterns, any sort of like light sources that the five of you have brought and the occasional filtered peel of lightning overhead.
Tell me what specific. What one thing is wigging you out the most about being in this forest. That doesn't quite seem right, I think.
[01:58:26] Speaker F: I mean, it kind of feels like going back into your house, but all the furniture's being rearranged.
I think it just. I think it smells wrong. I think there's like a particular kind of pine SAP that is in the forest he's usually in that isn't here. And it's like this, the forest, the air is wrong.
I don't quite know what these trees and what the. Like, what kind of animals could be here.
It's like, it's. It's. Yeah. Fascinating, but unsettling.
[01:58:59] Speaker A: Sure.
Perhaps the smell that's unnerving you is that the stench of ozone, that really kind of acrid storm smell is seemingly stronger now you're on the island when you were expecting it. Perhaps it was being counteracted somewhat by the smell of the salt from the sea from earlier. But now that you're bereft of that, it's just. Just this kind of sharp tanginess that.
[01:59:34] Speaker F: Assaults your nostrils like the storms in the trees themselves.
[01:59:41] Speaker A: And as you mutter that out to. As you mutter that out loud and sort of like, h. How are you illuminating your way?
[01:59:51] Speaker F: I probably just have a good old fashioned torch.
Sometimes you can't go wrong.
[01:59:59] Speaker A: Or.
[01:59:59] Speaker F: Oh, yeah, having a lantern, if available.
[02:00:01] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, absolutely. So as you kind of say that and you turn to regard your other companions and like the lantern turns with you.
There's like. When you turn back, you have to suddenly stop because you are mere inches away from. From this widebodied tree trunk.
And there's this part of you that thinks, I swear there wasn't a tree there a second ago.
[02:00:35] Speaker F: For a second I think I'm like, oh, is that Abe?
[02:00:37] Speaker C: Oh, no.
[02:00:38] Speaker F: Okay.
[02:00:40] Speaker B: It'S Abe's leg.
[02:00:44] Speaker F: Yeah. I think I.
It might be Unfamiliar here, but I don't get turned around in the forest that easily, so that's weird.
[02:00:53] Speaker A: Yeah.
Okay, who.
Who's taking the spotlight next?
[02:01:06] Speaker B: I think Abe, who has been on the island before, knows what kind of creatures could potentially be living here.
So he's keeping an eye out for that and also keeping an eye on all these sort of small little people that are with him that would make delightful snacks for said creatures.
So. But at the same time, maybe telling the others of like, oh, I saw a beast. It was as big as this and it, oh, nearly had my arm off and I punched it in the head and just kind of just telling tales of large beasts in a. Kind of just really he's not worried about them, but maybe sounding a little bit threatening towards everyone else in the kind of like, oh, and it was. His jaw was about this big. And I, you know, and that's where that scar came from is when I got eaten by that.
That dire badger. And.
[02:02:21] Speaker A: Yeah.
[02:02:22] Speaker B: So, you know, go just like constantly, just kind of just imagine just constantly kind of re. Ushering Griffin back into the party again as he kind of wanders and then just kind of back in again and then just kind of getting him.
Just kind of just moving him with his shield, just kind of not really touching him, just kind of scooping him back in. Scooping him back in.
[02:02:55] Speaker A: It sounds like as you're recounting these tales, I mean, that sounds kind of presidency, you know.
[02:03:05] Speaker F: Or.
[02:03:07] Speaker A: Yeah, if you talk about how you arm wrestle the mortgage spread.
[02:03:15] Speaker B: I'm telling tales of ginormous strength. And I'm moving branches to see anything now. Just moving it up, moving branches around, you know, hoisting, well, hoisting Cooper up, just, you know, using him as a lookout. We wouldn't doubt it's all strength based.
[02:03:39] Speaker A: So something I'll real quickly do because sometimes I forget that I'm playing dagger hearts and dagger hearts as rules.
I'm going to start a progress countdown for your kind of journey through the wilderness.
I'm going to start it quite ner on 8. And then Cassandre's navigation off the beach was a success with hope. So that reduces it by two to six.
Guardi roll called a fail with fear, which is no advancement. So you are currently your countdown. Your progress countdown is currently on six.
[02:04:22] Speaker B: Okay, so you want presence.
[02:04:26] Speaker A: Well, yeah, if. If you.
Well, or instinct or I guess it's what you like. If you're kind of telling the party about sort of like. Like what to look out for, perhaps what to look out For I reckon if you're trying to convince them if you're trying to convince them to not screw it up, I'm gonna say presents.
But like if you wanted to roll knowledge because it's like, oh, what do I have to do in the face of a.
[02:04:58] Speaker B: No, I think it will be more present like. Or if you see red eyes in the shadows. Don't. Don't do that. Did that once. Not a good idea if you know like.
So let's go for it.
[02:05:17] Speaker A: At least it's with hope.
[02:05:23] Speaker B: It's a real good realm.
[02:05:26] Speaker A: Well, you get your hope.
You.
I'm gonna say.
As you're. As you're explaining like the ins and outs of this one particular beastie.
Perhaps what you don't like you are confident that you're remembering everything you need to remember correctly.
But like perhaps what everyone else is not quite letting on is that they can't quite hear your voice over the sound of the storm.
So everyone's kind of following behind you and you all they can really hear.
And.
And like it's. I. I would imagine it's taken everyone long enough to remember realize that Abe is actually trying to talk to you rather than just the standard grumbling that you've come to know him for. But like you've only realized it too far into the like one sided conversation. But now you can't go back and get him to clarify. You know.
[02:06:40] Speaker B: At least he's talking.
[02:06:41] Speaker A: You've told everyone all of your worldly knowledge and no one has heard it.
[02:06:49] Speaker B: So that look a badger directly in the eyes. Don't pull a lemur's tongue. You know all this well earned, well knowledged.
[02:07:03] Speaker A: What's Cooper doing?
Like, yeah.
Lets out this sort of like triumphant grunt.
A job well done. And then. And then what are you doing?
[02:07:16] Speaker D: I think Cooper the entire time has been doing kind of what Abe was wanting to do, which was keeping a lookout for creatures. So he's got his crossbow out and he's just kind of using that to just survey the land.
He may not be used to forests, but he's a lucky guy. Die. So I would like to roll my presence check with lucky devil, which is my experience with the hopes that he does catch on to something if. If required. But yes, but you're.
[02:07:51] Speaker A: Look, you're. You're keeping your. You're keeping your eyes open, right?
[02:07:56] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm gonna have to be an instinct. Yeah. Yeah, that's right. That's what I meant.
[02:08:01] Speaker F: Instinct.
[02:08:02] Speaker D: Which is why I want to use my experience on top of because I have a lot more in my experience than I do.
Cool.
[02:08:08] Speaker C: Yes.
[02:08:09] Speaker A: So gobble up a hope and then roll with your experience.
[02:08:13] Speaker D: Yeah, move my hand.
Do that.
So 4.
So not 5. 5.
[02:08:23] Speaker F: 4.
[02:08:25] Speaker D: Then I go to instinct.
Normal instinct.
That was rubbish.
Plus my so plus three.
So that's a nine with fear, Dan.
[02:08:41] Speaker A: Nine with fear. Eh?
[02:08:43] Speaker D: Doing so much today.
[02:08:48] Speaker A: I now have seven. Fear.
[02:08:50] Speaker F: Oh, no.
[02:08:52] Speaker D: I hate that. I hate it.
I'm usually pretty lucky, but I think a. A's talking is distracting.
That's what I would take from this, is that he's trying.
[02:09:03] Speaker B: You're like trying to retune your ears to the frequency that Gabe is. Is on. All you get is radio static. Yeah, just like. What channel is he speaking?
[02:09:17] Speaker A: Oh, as you.
Like. You're. You're desperately trying to keep an eye out, Cooper.
And like, you're. You'll get. I guess perhaps you're. You're picking up bits and bobs from Abe's speech. Red eyes, feet, long claws.
And like, you're.
Perhaps your. Your mind's only kind of picking up on certain bits of it.
But it's when you hit, you hear the sound of like a.
Like a branch snapping, like a twig snap snapping nearby. And when you turn, whip your heads to look in that direction, you see nothing.
And then you feel like you have this feeling that you're being watched, but you can't see any red eyes or feet, long claws.
And you are overwhelmed with this urge to seek shelter, protection, safety.
And it takes everything in your power to stick it out.
I'm gonna ask you to mark a stress as this.
This feeling deep within you at the back of your mind is urging you to just like, save yourself.
[02:11:20] Speaker D: With that in mind, I have two. Two things I want to discuss with the group. So Cooper has an ability called stone stealth expertise. Which basically means when you roll with fear while attempting to move dangerous area, you can mark a stress and to roll with hope instead. But also if an ally within close range is also attempting to move unnoticed and rolls of fear, you can mark a stress to change that result as well.
So my suggestion would be that cooperation. Now quite worried that maybe that we're not safe anymore suggests that we try to move a bit quieter through the forest.
Because he's like, you know, like, Abe, your stories are great, but can we.
[02:12:10] Speaker C: Can we keep it?
[02:12:11] Speaker D: Can we keep it?
[02:12:12] Speaker B: Well, let me show you anyway.
[02:12:16] Speaker C: Please.
[02:12:17] Speaker D: Can we keep it down?
[02:12:18] Speaker F: What?
[02:12:20] Speaker A: Yeah.
[02:12:23] Speaker D: I also have advantage to find a safe place to hide if I roll for it.
As part of your seat. Yes, obviously. I'm not gonna lie.
[02:12:33] Speaker B: Right.
[02:12:34] Speaker D: There's a tree right behind my guy.
[02:12:38] Speaker B: Has to be quite a big safe place to hide. If ape.
[02:12:40] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We have Abe. So ape can just camouflage himself into the. Into the a tree or something. Right.
[02:12:47] Speaker B: Just roll and just turn into a mossy log.
[02:12:53] Speaker D: So, yeah. So they're the two options I have that might be useful in this scenario. So we can do one or both. I don't mind whatever you guys think.
[02:13:01] Speaker B: I feel like we probably need to find somewhere to stop, figure out what we're doing.
[02:13:09] Speaker E: Yeah. What our plan, where we're going.
[02:13:13] Speaker B: So I think probably finding shelter to have a action plan would be.
[02:13:25] Speaker D: Is this something that we can tag team on?
[02:13:29] Speaker A: If someone wants to tag team, then someone's tag.
[02:13:33] Speaker D: If someone tag teams with me and then I assume I can roll with advantage to look for a safe place to hide.
That gives us more chance of succeeding.
[02:13:42] Speaker A: Well, so someone can help me.
[02:13:46] Speaker E: I have a couple of spells that might be able to help you depending on what your plan is. If we're allowed to tag team.
[02:13:52] Speaker B: Or is it. Is it advantage?
Yeah, just give it like aiding.
[02:13:58] Speaker A: Yeah. So you can spend a. Hope to give someone else advantage or you can spend the three hope to do a full blown anime Power Ranger tag team.
[02:14:08] Speaker D: You know, I have. I have plenty of hope, so I'm happy to spend hope on my.
But obviously I don't know how everyone else is.
[02:14:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, it depends how you want to find it. Do you want to. Do you want to be thrown.
[02:14:24] Speaker A: Do you want.
[02:14:25] Speaker D: Do you want to throw Cooper up into the end?
[02:14:27] Speaker B: You want to. Do you want to be sort of just sort of yeeted in a direction in the hopes that you might find something or.
[02:14:34] Speaker A: Tell you what.
Tell you what. While you stop to deliberate this. Because it is. It is sounding like something when what.
[02:14:43] Speaker B: I could do is I can just throw it at me.
[02:14:50] Speaker A: I am going to spend a fear.
[02:14:52] Speaker C: Okay.
[02:14:56] Speaker A: And a piercing howl rips through the.
[02:15:02] Speaker B: Air.
[02:15:05] Speaker A: And it almost seems to reverberate from trunk to trunk as it snakes through the trees.
And almost. You can almost hear this howl circle around you like prowling predators before dispersing.
You feel like something is in fact following you.
Continue.
[02:15:35] Speaker F: Can I use my instinct to see if I can figure out how many howls there were?
1. How many creatures we might have heard?
[02:15:48] Speaker A: Yes. Roll me. I mean, that's a. Comprehend, I think. No. Perceive an instinct.
[02:15:54] Speaker F: Yes.
Oh, God.
[02:16:03] Speaker B: Somewhere between one and a thousand.
[02:16:06] Speaker A: Okay, so I'll get That fear back.
[02:16:12] Speaker F: I think it was just the rain.
[02:16:15] Speaker D: We've only just arrived. Dan, we've just arrived.
Don't kill us yet. We've just arrived.
[02:16:24] Speaker A: Okay, Guardi, as you turn around to your companions and shout, it was just the rain.
Who's got the high? Everyone shout out your instinct roles like your instinct numbers 1, 1, 2, 3.
Okay, so. So who's got two? Livy, a band, me.
So in which case you watch as Gardi shouts, it was just the rain.
You, you know, you see like there's a flash of lightning, so it throws the shapes of things into disarray. So like, as your eyes, you know, as the light peels across the surfaces of the tree trunks and the like, and you watch like, you see this shape burst from one of the tree trunks that Guardi has stood next to.
[02:17:38] Speaker D: And.
[02:17:41] Speaker A: I'm gonna mark a stress.
And Guardi, can I please have an agility or an instinct reaction roll, please?
[02:17:50] Speaker F: Oh, yeah, why not?
14.
[02:17:57] Speaker A: 14 with hope.
Okay, so you, like, you. You see Cass and a sort of like, ah, go to say something to you, but before you. Before they get a chance to.
[02:18:13] Speaker F: And you.
[02:18:14] Speaker A: Before you get a chance to comprehend what they're saying, you feel something wrap around your torso. And like, as you look down, you realize, like, you see what looks like tree bark and you feel you. You take.
7 damage, which you can reduce with armor as normal, but you feel yourself get pulled back into the trunk of the tree.
Yeah, let's take the armor as this.
And the. The rest of you, you watch as this tree, seemingly like the bark, seemingly opens up like a. Almost like a Venus fly trap and then wrap around gi and pull him in. And you watch as this tree rises up and it, like the root, its roots almost look like legs, and it moves like a tall version of one of the plants that you saw in the. In the stalls. But this thing is currently like hugging Gardy.
That's its turn. Who wants to.
Who wants to tell you what between Abe and Cassandra, as you were the ones that would have noticed this first.
Who's taking the spotlight?
[02:19:38] Speaker B: I don't mind. You ought to shoot it. Or should I?
I think instinctually, Abe will hoist his axe off of his back, but he's also aware that Guardi is now part of the tree.
[02:19:56] Speaker A: Yes.
So it looks like Gardi's like, head, like half hands below the wrist and like legs below the knee are just sort of like emerging from this tree trunk.
[02:20:08] Speaker B: Can.
Oh, can.
Can I try and rip Gardy out of the tree?
[02:20:16] Speaker A: Absolutely. Can. Yeah, but the strength, I reckon.
[02:20:25] Speaker B: Oh, that's better.
24.
[02:20:28] Speaker A: 24. Okay, now we're in.
[02:20:31] Speaker B: Now we're playing you where.
[02:20:35] Speaker A: What part of guard are you grabbing? And say it's like his head from the neck up, his hands from the wrists down, and his legs from the knees down.
[02:20:43] Speaker F: Please don't pull my head off.
[02:20:47] Speaker B: I think he got legs free, probably. Well, I don't know.
[02:20:50] Speaker A: Well, in actual flow, with a 24 with hope, I reckon you are able to just like you punch. Yeah, you. You punch your hand into the bark of this tree with such force that everyone else, you watch as this bark seemingly like, shatters under the impact of Abe's like monolithic fist.
And like, you're able to just grab Guardi by, like this, by the collar and who lift like Yonkim out of the tree.
Yeah, you've absolutely freed him. Gy. You are no longer restrained, Cassandre. I reckon you're in the spotlight next. As you have the higher instinct, Cassandre.
[02:21:31] Speaker E: Is going to unleash chaos.
[02:21:35] Speaker A: Okay, do tell me, do tell. Tell me more.
[02:21:40] Speaker B: That's not even a move. That's just.
[02:21:45] Speaker A: Unleash chaos. Hair flick.
[02:21:46] Speaker E: Make a spellcast roll against the target within far range and spend any number of tokens to channel raw energy from within yourself to unleash against them.
On a success roll a number of D10s equal to the tokens you spent and deal that much magic damage.
[02:22:00] Speaker A: Ah, it's a Kamehameha. Okay, cool.
Okay, so please make me a spell cast roll. So that's an instinct for you, I believe.
[02:22:11] Speaker E: Yes, this is.
[02:22:19] Speaker B: Another crit.
[02:22:20] Speaker D: Another crit.
[02:22:22] Speaker E: Decimate this tree.
[02:22:25] Speaker A: Okay, how many detens are you looking to spend?
[02:22:29] Speaker E: What is my spell casting?
Is most my spellcasting taken?
[02:22:35] Speaker A: Well, so you have marker stress replace. I'll just.
How many do you start with?
Oh, wait, no. So you mark a stress trace. Okay, so what I'll say is, if you like, you can retroactively mark a stress to add up to your spellcast trait in tokens, and then you can spend them now.
[02:22:59] Speaker E: Yes. Thank you.
[02:23:00] Speaker B: You.
[02:23:00] Speaker E: I should have done that.
[02:23:05] Speaker A: So well. Your.
Your, your, your, your, your. Your instinct is plus two.
[02:23:15] Speaker E: So it would be two.
Two.
[02:23:19] Speaker B: Yes.
[02:23:19] Speaker A: So, yeah. Do you want to roll a D10 or a two D10?
[02:23:22] Speaker E: I roll two D10 this tree.
[02:23:28] Speaker A: Okay, so that is immediately. That is immediately 20 damage plus roll your two D10.
[02:23:40] Speaker B: Therehere we go.
[02:23:44] Speaker A: 35 damage. Okay.
Okay.
What do you. What does your unleash chaos look like?
[02:23:56] Speaker E: It's like this Ball of energy just grows in her hand. And I think again, it is fueled by the fact that Gadi is one of her only friends. She doesn't make friends very easily. He has somehow become her friend, colleague through having to travel with her.
And the thought of losing him right now in this very strange island, it does terrify her. So like this electrical surge just kind of grows in her hands and then it just flies at the tree.
[02:24:28] Speaker A: Okay. In the flash of light that partially blinds you, Cass, as you fire off this kind of blast of lightning with the perfectly timed thunderstorm strike.
Like you, you perhaps aren't aware of it, but the. The other four of you notice that as. As this sort of like surge of lightning appears between Cass's hands, a peel of purple lightning arcs down through the canopy to strike what you're charging up. As you fire it towards this tree creature.
The blast blows away a gun good third of the bark on this creature's so called torso, exposing this kind of bare like wood in a like flesh, if you will.
But Cass, as you like, you feel yourself knocked back a handful of like a number of steps from the. From the sheer force of the spell that you've just unleashed. Like the chaos. And you first, like, as your world goes white from this, from the, the light of the lightning, you get this momentary flash in your mind of this agonized scream of something not of this world as whatever it is feels like it's being rent asunder into a thousand pieces.
And suddenly the. The world goes dark again as you're back in the room. You like, your hands are tingling from static as you see this tree like creature reeling from your advance, having just scorched its right side clean off.
Very good. You gain a hope, you clear a stress because you roll the crit and who wants to take the spotlight while this thing is staggered?
[02:26:32] Speaker C: Tag team?
[02:26:33] Speaker D: Yeah, I'll do a tag team. What are you thinking?
I was just gonna shoot it. So you're just gonna shoot it.
[02:26:44] Speaker C: How about you, if you were gonna shoot it?
Oh, that's going to help at all?
No, that's no point in doing that.
[02:26:59] Speaker B: What songs do I know about trees?
[02:27:02] Speaker C: I mean, I can, I can do some magical imbueding on your.
On your crossbow to, to do that, to sort of hit a little bit truer in a way if we want to tag team, that.
[02:27:23] Speaker D: That works for me.
[02:27:24] Speaker A: Cool.
[02:27:26] Speaker D: I was gonna say.
So with my ability as a rogue, I can obviously become cloaked as long as I'm hidden. Can I. Can I confirm if what Abe's action has done would count as a melee range attack.
[02:27:45] Speaker A: Yes.
[02:27:46] Speaker B: I put my fist through a tree.
[02:27:48] Speaker C: Yeah.
[02:27:48] Speaker D: But obviously we. We have then just had us just explode part of its torso. So I'm still checking if you are one in melee.
[02:27:55] Speaker B: I imagine it all just otherwise at the same time, like, literally guardian.
Cool.
[02:28:01] Speaker D: Well, in that case, it feels like then it's fine for him to then use a sneak attack from where he is because obviously it's. Everything's happened at once.
So.
[02:28:11] Speaker B: Cool.
[02:28:11] Speaker D: So, yeah, I will spend. It's three hope, isn't it? For our tag team.
[02:28:18] Speaker B: Just one of you has to spend whoever's tagging.
[02:28:21] Speaker D: I have four Hope so I six.
[02:28:23] Speaker A: So I can.
[02:28:24] Speaker D: Okay.
[02:28:25] Speaker C: I can spend it.
[02:28:28] Speaker A: Over here.
Cool.
[02:28:30] Speaker D: Okay, well, I'll do my crossbow then.
Hopefully it's going to.
[02:28:37] Speaker A: Sorry, I thought, you know, I thought I'd just. Just get everyone in the mood. Just so we know.
[02:28:45] Speaker D: I just crit.
[02:28:47] Speaker C: Well, let's use that then.
[02:28:53] Speaker B: We may not be able to do, you know, checks for. But we can hit a bit.
[02:28:58] Speaker D: We can hit things.
[02:29:02] Speaker B: We might not be able to see it coming, but we can hit it when it arrives.
[02:29:10] Speaker A: Okay. So.
So sorry, what are your two tag teams? So I was crafting this artistic masterpiece.
[02:29:17] Speaker E: It's stunning.
[02:29:19] Speaker C: I'm not really sure how I could roll for it, but I'm thinking more that. That, like, Griffin is just playing a tune behind Cooper and he's not completely sure why it is, but that seems to sort of calm his focus back after that initial sort of stress and the sort of surprise of this big tree coming out of it, that sort of, you know, calm, like, calms him down back into that focus that he knows.
I'm not completely sure how I would roll for that. If you'll allow it.
[02:29:53] Speaker A: Of course I will allow it.
[02:29:58] Speaker C: I can roll a presence, but I think the crit is just gonna go anyway.
[02:30:03] Speaker A: Yeah, Crits. And crits. Crit.
[02:30:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[02:30:07] Speaker A: Okay. So.
So what. What does your. What does your buff do again? Sorry, Griffin.
[02:30:15] Speaker C: I'm not really sure what it could be. I was. I'm just thinking off the top of my head because there's not a lot really I can do besides from just twat it also with my cutlers.
But I guess just.
[02:30:31] Speaker D: If it's a buff that helps Cooper settle to do the crit.
[02:30:35] Speaker C: Yeah. I mean, it's not an initial bus that I've actually got. That's like a thing. But I'm more. More sort of thinking how this would actually look or work out.
[02:30:45] Speaker A: Sure. Okay.
Tell you what we.
Because it's a crit, and because that's already happened, I will say that we can just apply, like, a bit of a party buff for the. Like the next.
Until the next fear rolls through you. Tell you what, your buff will. Will let you collectively ignore the next fear that rolls through. Cool. I'll count the next fear as, like, a nothing.
So it's not hope. It's not fear either.
And in which case.
Yeah, Cooper, roll some dimage.
[02:31:22] Speaker D: Okay, so Cooper's damage is.
So it's 12. And then the sneak attack damage on top as well.
So are those things also with the.
[02:31:34] Speaker A: Okay, so hang on.
[02:31:35] Speaker D: Damage as well?
[02:31:37] Speaker A: So I found out that crit is just the dice rolls. So it's 12 plus 12 plus 12 plus 3 for 38.
[02:31:45] Speaker E: Yeah.
[02:31:47] Speaker A: Okay.
[02:31:48] Speaker C: Could I also use my music to be my rally in a way? So if.
[02:31:52] Speaker A: Yes.
[02:31:53] Speaker C: If this tree is still standing, then everyone also gets a decent six to do what they want.
[02:31:59] Speaker A: Cooper.
[02:32:01] Speaker D: Yep.
[02:32:02] Speaker A: As you launch yourself. Sorry. You're shooting with the crossbow. Right.
Cool. Explain to me how this happens.
[02:32:12] Speaker D: Okay, well, I think, well, first of all, the shock of everything happening, plus watching G get swallowed by the tree a ripping him out. Cass.
I think, like, watching Cass basically throw lightning at this thing is again, another, like, what the actual hell is going on here? But he hears Griffin's music and he focuses. He knows he needs to get this thing gone.
Focuses. And I think he tries to find, like, focus on, like, the weakest point of. Of the tree, which I imagine is like, where. Where Cass, like, you can see the scorch marks where the lightning hit originally. So he's just like, using that as his aim point.
Just how's the crossbow bolt at it?
[02:32:59] Speaker A: In which case you have this bolt sinks into the softer, like, flesh, if you will, of the inside of the tree.
And like, you watch as this tall trunk, like, torso reels from the. The impact attacked and it lets out this, like, raw of pain. And it's all, like, tips to one side. And then just like a felt tree, you hear a lurching, and then it crashes to the forest floor.
And between the four of you, you have successfully slain the creature.
[02:33:41] Speaker B: Bo.
[02:33:43] Speaker F: I think G's just like what.
[02:33:48] Speaker B: Just.
[02:33:48] Speaker E: In A's arms like a baby.
[02:33:52] Speaker F: A lot has just h. In the last, like, five seconds, a lot has happened.
[02:33:57] Speaker B: Imagine a kind of holding guardi like you like someone that's like, never held a baby before. Just kind of a cat. Yeah.
[02:34:08] Speaker A: Under his armpit.
[02:34:09] Speaker B: Yeah, just under his arm.
[02:34:12] Speaker F: After a bit like a Cat, I probably do start to like.
[02:34:20] Speaker A: Well, as you. Yeah. As you gently place Guardi upon the ground.
You like Guardi. You now have a chance to see this thing that enveloped you. And I mean, if you want to roll me a. Like a consequence list, like a reaction roll a reaction. Like knowledge, insight, something if you want to find anything out about it.
So you won't get hope or. Nor fear.
[02:34:51] Speaker F: If I can. Instinct, I'll. Instinct. That'd be grand.
[02:34:54] Speaker C: Yeah.
[02:34:55] Speaker A: You're perceiving.
[02:34:58] Speaker F: We love to perceive 15.
[02:35:02] Speaker A: Okay. So no fear to worry about the creature.
Like, you've heard of, like, walking trees, like sentient trees, sometimes called, like tree ants.
There's. You've heard of one of the expedition towns, a town one called New Prosper. You've heard that, like, woodland like creatures now known as dryads roam the woods around the town of New Prosper.
But the one thing that you kind of acknowledge that you heard is that they all kind of live somewhat harmoniously with those around them, including people.
But this seemed like an almost. Perhaps it was hungry. Perhaps it was.
Well, it didn't seem provoked. You didn't really do anything to provoke it, but it. Yeah, it seems like there was something a bit wrong with it just seemed a lot more violent.
You.
And you notice that it's big. It's.
It's nowhere near as fast as when you saw what you saw happen to Mad Karrian in the stalls where his body kind of putrefied.
But this thing does look like there's an energy leaving it, leaving behind like a withered fallen tree, like it's been drained of something.
And you notice that the ground around the fallen tree seems rejuvenated for a moment before returning to how it was.
So it's almost like you're watching the life seep from it through into the.
[02:37:13] Speaker F: Ground.
[02:37:16] Speaker A: But in a process that doesn't seem right.
[02:37:21] Speaker F: I'm gonna. I'm gonna say a little prayer, try and make and calm the spirits a bit and hope it's all fine.
[02:37:32] Speaker A: Okay.
As the five of you kind of pick yourselves up and like, sort yourselves out and just kind of take into.
Take take what's just happened into consideration.
Abe, how are you feeling about this little encounter? Because this isn't anything you've ever seen before.
[02:38:12] Speaker D: You're on mute.
[02:38:16] Speaker B: Sorry.
Yeah. Abe is not feeling comfortable. This is not how.
Like, there's things in the woods, but there's not. Like, this seems wrong and not normal, so.
And in the back of his mind, he is thinking, how far has this Spread throughout the island and does it affect other parts of the island and other people that might be living in the island and if that's affecting a greater portion or if it's just this portion. So I think he's kind of computing that at the moment.
[02:39:10] Speaker A: As you do computer, that.
As you sort of like you turn your head away to like in your thoughts.
As you look up.
[02:39:26] Speaker F: You.
[02:39:29] Speaker A: Realize in the darkness you've warned everyone in the group about red eyes, eyes in the dark.
But when you glance up, you spy two yellow eyes watching you from the undergrowth.
And you feel that kind of that surge of like that fight or flight, that reaction shoot off your spine as the eyes emerge from the the undergrowth to reveal a large green striped furred face, much like a cat, somewhere between a cat and a dog, but larger than your head.
And from the undergrowth like a heavy muscled third leg tipped with wickedly sharp claws.
Like emerge from the undergrowth as this creature approaches you. It's large pointed ears lay flat against its head.
And as it snarled like its top lip lifts up as it snarls at you with these. And the, the fangs look just as sharp as the two ridged horns that rise, the curved horns that rise from the top of its head.
And as the front half of its body emerges from the bushes, you see the feathered wings that connect from the front paws up the length of the front legs.
And as a thing snarls at you, you, You have an immediate acknowledgment of what this means.
And the rest of you, having now seen Abe's attention taken by this large green feline canine creature that's just emerged from the, from between the trees.
[02:42:06] Speaker F: You.
[02:42:07] Speaker A: Look around and notice that there are figures in the shadows.
Silhouettes, humanoids.
Humanoid silhouettes.
And from behind this large like green tiger like creature, Abe, you spy a.
A keeper, much like yourself, but younger.
And hefted. Over her shoulder is a large hafted hammer, the hammerhead, made of this bright white stone that you've never seen before.
There's a white shawl that hangs from her shoulders, darkened by the rain.
And as she emerges alongside her beast, she lifts her left leg up and places a peg leg upon a rock as she studies you, this hammer over her shoulder. And you notice the rest of you as she glances from side to side, side to take you in. And you realize that the shadows as they emerge into light are also keepers wearing similar white shaws. As they surround you.
This leader that you assume her to be turns her attention back to Abe.
You're not supposed to be here, she says.
[02:44:02] Speaker B: I.
[02:44:05] Speaker A: As you stutter and like, try to figure out what to say.
[02:44:13] Speaker B: I.
[02:44:14] Speaker A: Will give you one chance to explain to me why you're here, Father.
And we'll call it there.
Yeah, let's go.
[02:44:29] Speaker E: Daddy issues for children.
[02:44:34] Speaker C: And just after Father's Day.
[02:44:39] Speaker A: We will call it there.
So congratulations on completing episode four.
You have arrived on the Titan Isles. You have met some of their. In some. Some of the isles inhabitants, and some are more happy to see you than others.
[02:45:01] Speaker E: Are any of them happy to see you?
[02:45:03] Speaker D: I don't think any of them are happy to see us, Dan.
[02:45:06] Speaker A: Well, oh, yes, yes. I think it's. It's a very low bar and they seem to still be slotting in under it.
[02:45:13] Speaker F: There's one dire badger we didn't see that's like, oh, they seem pretty cool.
[02:45:19] Speaker B: I really like those guys.
[02:45:21] Speaker A: So if you enjoyed this, make sure to give us a like over on YouTube. Subscribe and follow on YouTube or Twitch if you haven't already.
We're releasing these. We're doing these every Monday from 7:30pm UK time.
So if you want to find out more about this daughter of Abe's, then you're gonna have to tune in next week to find out a little bit more.
If you wanted somewhere to speculate and just kind of find more stuff, you know, get more involved with elsewhere, we've now got a Discord. It sounds like it's a little bit barren, so maybe I haven't clicked some correct things. So we'll sort that out. But you can find the link to the Discord in the description if you want to be even more involved. We do have YouTube memberships and patreons active for 2 pounds a month and 5 pounds a month.
Any either of those tiers will give you, like, additional content on top of anything that you might already find in the Discord, such as member polls, additional videos that we're gonna do, like Q&As, live streams, all sorts.
And yeah, the more of you that jump into the Discord once I've made it work, the. The more sort of like the more stuff will happen. So, yeah, absolutely jump in on that.
So is there and tell you what I feel. I feel a bit cheeky as I turn down the music because we're like four episodes in Theo and Georgia. Is there anything that you'd like to share with our audience about anything that you're doing just in general?
[02:47:05] Speaker D: Georgia, do you want to go or are you going to make me do it?
[02:47:08] Speaker E: I can do it.
We have finally begun season one of the Homewood foundation which we produced the pilot for in October of last year. We kick started and wonderfully managed to raise 23k to do the rest of season one. Thank you all so so much if you were involved in that in any way.
And now season one is it. It is arrived. We released episode two last week. We release episodes bi weekly so from now until August and please go listen. It is a sequel to Dracula. It is found footage set in the modern day and there is lots and lots of horrific things going on and you might hear some familiar voices, you know, might do.
[02:47:52] Speaker B: Where can you listen to it?
[02:47:54] Speaker E: You can listen to it wherever you get your podcasts. We host it for Maycast. But you can find it on YouTube, you can find it on Spotify, you can find it on Apple podcasts anywhere at all. I'm pretty sad it's there.
[02:48:06] Speaker A: Amazing.
Amazing, amazing, amazing. Yes, absolutely. Check that out because, yeah, the first two episodes have been sublime so far, right? Hopefully I've set this up so now when I click this button and the outro plays, it's actually going to keep on playing all the way through to the end. So thank you once again for watching. Thank you U5 for playing.
I hope you've all enjoyed this. Mysteries Abounds.
Tune in next week for session five of our third campaign.
See you next Monday.
