[00:00:01] Speaker A: Hello and welcome to explorers of elsewhere, Elysia Rising. Hi, I'm DM Dan. I am joined by five beautiful creatures, sailors of the void, who are celebrating. They're resting on their laurels after a job well done.
[00:00:20] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:00:25] Speaker A: A job well done. Yes, we have made it out of actu. We are on the home straight of campaign two.
And yeah, there were a few knocks and bangs in the last score. There were a few upsets, there were a few shock surprises.
And I'm here for it.
[00:00:48] Speaker C: I mean, you would be.
[00:00:50] Speaker A: I would be.
[00:00:51] Speaker C: I mean, you have as well, to be fair.
[00:00:55] Speaker A: Well, yes. Off the back of such a kind of explosive finale, let's. I want. I would like to jump in to see how you all kind of getting your rest and recuperation in and casting your minds over a peaceful new day.
Who's up for it? Jeffrey?
[00:01:17] Speaker B: Lovely, lovely.
[00:01:25] Speaker A: Welcome to Elysia, the jewel of the north. On our guildhood gilded streets, fortune and.
[00:01:33] Speaker C: Fame can be found by anyone.
Hi, I'm Julia and I'm playing Magpie, an ace of our lurk.
[00:01:42] Speaker B: Hi, I'm Nate and I'm playing cavern, a dragon sent slide.
[00:01:47] Speaker D: Hi, I'm Meg. I'm playing Frieda, a wolfkin cutter.
[00:01:52] Speaker E: Hi, I'm JC and I'll be playing Algon, an ace of our spider.
[00:01:57] Speaker F: Hello, I'm Erol. I am playing atta, a goblin whispered.
[00:02:03] Speaker A: My name is DM Dan. I will be the games master on this adventure.
[00:02:08] Speaker C: So come on in and marvel at our wonders. Make sure you see the beautiful views.
[00:02:14] Speaker A: We have to offer.
[00:02:15] Speaker C: And dont mind the ghosts. Theyre friendly.
[00:02:17] Speaker A: Really.
[00:02:18] Speaker C: Grab yourselves a seat and make yourselves welcome in the city of Elysia.
[00:02:30] Speaker A: The prize of a flourishing and prosperous civilization, coveted by many, includes stability, safety and advancement. It requires countless hardships to invoke. But through a strong sense of community, the rising tide of civilization lifts all who sail her seas. The absence of civilization, when the bonds between folk breaks down, invites chaos and catastrophe. In the absence of purpose, guiding principles, or hope itself, a community can very quickly begin pulling itself apart, cannibalizing itself in a fevered feeding frenzy.
What then will become of the people of Elysia? In the aftermath of this one fateful night, the pillars and the faith lie in ruin, their integrity burning away like wildflame. It is suggested that the world may not end with a bang, but a whimper. And Alicia will surely put this idea to the test. Though her demise may be more violent than any could have expected.
[00:03:38] Speaker D: Alright, keep it light.
[00:03:43] Speaker A: And so we find the five of you just under 36 hours from where we last met you. The ripples of the events of that night have been keenly felt by all of the. All of the people of Elysia.
And the ramifications of those ripples are now beginning to bubble to the surface. In the immediate aftermath, there was a large, orchestrated effort to attempt to stymie the spread of fire from the cathedral of our glorious mother.
But around the time that the torch bearers would have begun their duties to illuminate the torches of the streets of Elysia, fully half of Abbott's gate now lies in charred ruin.
This intermingles with stories of a number of disturbances within dustry hill. Most notably a sizable explosion which has obliterated a full block of residential buildings and residential and office buildings.
The origin of such a devastating explosion has yet to come to light, though there are some in connected circles who've begun to whisper and speculate with varying levels of accuracy. Also, in a night of unparalleled chaos, a number of warehouses once belonging or belonging to the chamber, appear to have been attacked in systematics assaults, as mass looting begins to strip the chain bearers of whatever wealth they used to have. In response to this tide of discontent and aggression, the city watch have found themselves in resurgence, having nominated one of their most faithful sergeants to the position of watch commander.
And watch commander Leach has ensured that he will do everything he can to ensure that the stability and safety of the streets of Elysia will return sooner rather than later. And the perpetrators of such carnage will be brought to justice.
Though in the following hours, it is clear that Leach's motives and methods are somewhat more bloodthirsty than those who came before him. In absence of their guiding light, those of the shield bearers have also pledged their allegiance to the watch, bolstering commander Leach's troops in securing the city, realizing that the watch now are the best vessel for securing the safety of Alicia, as they would see it. As news of high priestess lucrative disappearance begins spreading around the shrines and temples of the garden keepers are now empty, the clerics and druids having gone to ground for fear of retribution from angry baying mobs.
Large gatherings were seen through all districts of Elysia the following night. Even as the smoke of the cathedral and the holdings of Odal Mercer Rann, who has been confirmed killed in the explosions, still lingers in the air. And upsettingly angry crowds and mobs would collide with other crowds and mobs, each trying to return their slice of life back to normality.
All sides fighting a losing battle in these dark hours, as Alicia begins to throttle itself, to choke its own life out with her own hands.
We find the five of you in hiding, we will start downtime, and we can discuss what it is that you have collectively done over the past 36 odd hours, and then we can kind of move on from there. But.
So, payoff.
So, interestingly, there wasn't really.
Wasn't really anyone who said they would up some money.
[00:09:26] Speaker C: However, the sanguivar have had a whip round.
[00:09:30] Speaker A: Well, in.
[00:09:31] Speaker C: Thanks.
[00:09:34] Speaker A: Whilst you cannot guarantee where some of this wealth has come from, and you suspect that perhaps some of it is used to belong to the coffers of the now flailing chain bearers, I'm going to say, between the sangrevar and your collected allies, you are presented with a full ten coin. Oh, boy. As the currency, if you will, of Alicia begins to plummet as the writing begins, and the value of certain items, especially items of an arcane nature, begin to soar, you find that the loot that you've accrued through your Sangrevar allies. Yeah. Equates to ten coin. So that is a major score with impressive loot.
So, ten coin. Are you paying the illness, their due of two coins?
The city is in a chaos.
The gold pot has been fundamentally closed after being looted.
What are you going to pay the auntie?
[00:11:02] Speaker C: Can we respectfully end that business relationship?
[00:11:07] Speaker F: Can I. Can I counter with. I don't know who else would help us here heal from magical ailments?
[00:11:13] Speaker B: We've got a new mate.
[00:11:14] Speaker A: You've got Lorenzo.
[00:11:20] Speaker F: And Lorenzo.
[00:11:22] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:11:23] Speaker F: Then, yeah. If we don't want to pay them, I'm sure.
[00:11:26] Speaker D: Also, we know now that they sent an assassin after us. I mean, we're pretty oblivious till the last minute, but we know now.
[00:11:33] Speaker B: I mean, technically, they didn't send one after us. It was songbird that center after us.
[00:11:37] Speaker D: Well, you know.
[00:11:43] Speaker A: Well, so are you keeping all of your. All of your ill gotten gains?
[00:11:49] Speaker E: I think so.
[00:11:51] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah. Keep an all ten to yourselves.
How are we distributing it? So the. The crew vault is currently empty, so we can fill you up.
[00:12:04] Speaker C: How big is the crew volt?
[00:12:05] Speaker A: So you can now stash eight coin.
[00:12:08] Speaker C: Oh, fill it up.
[00:12:10] Speaker A: So, eight coin. And who is taking the remaining coin?
[00:12:15] Speaker B: I was gonna say, do we want one each?
[00:12:17] Speaker C: Don't want it.
Ten. Right.
[00:12:20] Speaker A: Well, something. Something to bear in mind. I've kind of been kind of bad at keeping track of it, but it's a good time as any because everyone looking at your character, everyone is empty.
Every coin you have on your person counts as a load.
[00:12:37] Speaker C: I don't want it. I like to keep it late.
[00:12:40] Speaker D: How much coin would it take to do an extra downtime so I can clear some more stress?
[00:12:46] Speaker A: Respectfully, one coin each. One coin or rep per extra downtime.
[00:12:52] Speaker D: May I request a coin?
[00:12:55] Speaker E: We also get some extra coin in downtown times now because of our vice den.
[00:12:59] Speaker A: You do.
[00:13:00] Speaker C: So should absolutely all be taking extra downtime activity.
[00:13:04] Speaker F: Yeah, yeah.
[00:13:06] Speaker A: Okay. Okay.
Well, so are we. Shall we just have to. Who wants to take the to coin initially?
Just the splash over?
[00:13:19] Speaker F: Well, I think both me and Frieda need to want. Everyone needs to reduce stress for sure. But we also need to try and heal from our injuries. So maybe give it to them.
[00:13:30] Speaker A: Okay. So we can immediately kind of sidetrack that last two coin to healing. Okay, that's fine.
Fab. So that is coin.
And for the rep, the crew earns three rep due to their leverage ability. So that's three.
If the target of the score is a higher tier than you take plus one rep, I am going to place you a tier two gang and say your hardiest rival were the children of ire. They are tier four. So that is an extra to rep and try. Even if you attempted to. News of your exploits has begun filtering through the criminal circles of Elysia. And soon those whispers seem to be spreading onto the public streets among the citizenry.
So there is no way that you will be able to keep it stum that you managed to do this job.
And there are even whispers that whoever orchestrated some of these prison breaks were even in control of ghostly spirits themselves, commanding the dead to their bidding. There are whispers that Tavarian now walks among us once again.
But off the back of your five rep that will take you 123-4528 of eleven. So you are well on your way to. Because I think you've already leveled up to.
Yeah, you're tier two week, so soon you'll be able to kind of firm up your. Your tier two status.
Cool. So that is rep. That's coin. The illnessee will remember this. Right, moving swiftly on to level up.
So PC advancement.
So in the last session, there were further between the five of you, there were so many desperates that I'm just going to kind of summarize those separately. Hello, DM Dan from the future here. The summary is. Magpie did a tinker and two finesses. Atta did an attune, Algernon did a consort. Cavern did a way and Frieda did a consort and a skirmish. Right, let's get back to it. But we'll go on to the actual, like, character specific XP triggers.
So, Magpie, did you. Hello. Did you do any playbook specific XP triggers?
[00:16:23] Speaker C: Now, here's the thing.
My playbook says I need to.
I need to meet challenges with stealth and evasion. Yes, I would argue that's not fair, because there was. There was just no way what I did.
[00:16:42] Speaker D: Yeah, you're snuck into a prison. You passed yourself off as, like, a prisoner.
[00:16:46] Speaker B: That's pretty snuck out of a prison.
[00:16:48] Speaker D: And you snuck out of a prison.
[00:16:49] Speaker C: I guess we could argue for that. I was thinking the actual mission where we were hairing a lot. Loads of, like, rats and children of ire following us, being like, how do I hide? There's nowhere to hide.
[00:17:00] Speaker A: No, realistically, the school's gonna include that kind of winding.
[00:17:04] Speaker C: So I. I would like. I would like something for that, please. And I agree.
[00:17:09] Speaker A: One for that.
[00:17:10] Speaker C: Yeah.
I mean, I think it's pretty lurky to do some really clutch lock picking, but it's not. Technically, that doesn't. Does that come under stealth evasion? Technically?
I don't think I've ever let it stop me before.
[00:17:28] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:29] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:17:30] Speaker F: You helped us escape.
[00:17:35] Speaker A: Evade a grisly end. Fine, fine. You know what? It was the active finale. Two for the xps. And did you express your belief drives, heritage or background?
[00:17:44] Speaker C: No, I believe I did in quite. In quite tall measure, because.
Well, there was the whole protecting the sanguivar bit, which is very. Is very. Is very magpie.
And particularly Samuel, who is her favourite sanguivar, apart from Algernon, of course. And so there was her putting herself in danger, planting herself between lucrative and the Sangrevar, I think, was very expressive of her background and motivation.
And there was another bit that I thought probably.
I feel like it was just like a whole mission of Magpie. Like the Magpie mission Express. It was like a very magpie mission. I think it just kind of. I would say it was several examples of.
[00:18:33] Speaker F: It wasn't stealthy, but you, like, stood.
You stood in front of Lacraji and, like, you've held everyone off. Right.
[00:18:43] Speaker C: I feel like, as well, the whole attempt to save Lukraji's life at the end was also very magpie, because I think part of her arc is about learning the value of people's lives and all that stuff coming from very rich background.
[00:19:03] Speaker A: I agree with that.
[00:19:03] Speaker C: Important.
[00:19:04] Speaker A: Okay, well, in that case, that is. That's another two. So, four x three. Did you struggle with issues from your vice or trauma?
[00:19:11] Speaker C: I wouldn't say I did during the mission.
I mean, it probably was a bit of a struggle for Magpie, being a noble lady, suddenly being treated like dirt as she was being arrested, and being sort of treated the way, you know, Sanguva get treated. I think that was a shock to her as a noble lady, but also very sobering and grounding for her, helping her to really get in touch with the current mission.
[00:19:41] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't. I'm. I don't think that ties in with the. The.
[00:19:45] Speaker C: I don't think it counts, but I just think it's interesting.
[00:19:48] Speaker A: It is interesting. It's very interesting. Okay, it sounds like four XP for Mac.
[00:19:52] Speaker C: Thank you.
[00:19:53] Speaker A: Beautiful. Moving on to Atta. Attata.
[00:19:58] Speaker C: Attata.
[00:19:59] Speaker A: So did you do many whispery things?
[00:20:03] Speaker F: I think I did one primary whispery thing, which is compelling. I believe that Atta compelled Caleb out of the Mecca, or at the very least assisted in that situation. But other than that, it wasn't a very whispery mode for Atta. Atta did more, let's detonate weird, disgusting slurry bombs. And. Yeah, detinkering.
[00:20:33] Speaker A: I would argue that's peak atta.
[00:20:35] Speaker F: Right, it's peak atta, but whether it's peak whisper is debatable for sure.
[00:20:40] Speaker A: That might come up as background. Yeah. So you did. Yeah. You hoovered up Caleb.
[00:20:49] Speaker F: Yes.
[00:20:50] Speaker A: You.
I would argue separately. I will count you and Katherine tag teaming to also inject Tavareen into the soup.
Yeah. Extraction and implementation. Okay, so I'll call that too. Why not?
Did you express your belief strives heritage or background? I mean, we've already said the slurry. The slurry grenades.
[00:21:17] Speaker F: Just tinkeriness in general is very at a background being said goblin of the group.
I guess the only other thing that is maybe background related is the utilization of rats to explore the tunnel. But that was pre heist, right? That was our prep.
[00:21:37] Speaker A: No, that still counts.
[00:21:39] Speaker F: Oh, okay.
[00:21:39] Speaker A: Yeah, we can count the. Count the. The preamble.
[00:21:42] Speaker F: Yes.
[00:21:45] Speaker A: Okay, so, yeah, animal companions will mark that. Uppers.
Did you struggle with your vice or trauma?
[00:21:54] Speaker F: I don't think so.
[00:21:56] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah. Four ferrata. JC, let us delve into Algernon.
You. You did a desperate.
[00:22:05] Speaker E: I did a desperate. Yeah. Finally.
[00:22:10] Speaker A: Besides that, how spidery did you feel? How spidery were you in the last mission?
[00:22:16] Speaker E: I felt pretty spidery. What's the maximum xp I can get from that? Is it two?
[00:22:21] Speaker A: Two? Yeah. I mean, the whole thing was Spider Central, wasn't it?
[00:22:24] Speaker E: So, yeah, I did a conspiracy to burn down the cathedral.
[00:22:31] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:22:31] Speaker E: I did a.
[00:22:32] Speaker C: That went brilliantly.
[00:22:34] Speaker E: I lied to Umi and did a conspiracy to conspire with her.
[00:22:39] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:22:39] Speaker E: In the. In the moment.
The whole thing was very spidery.
[00:22:43] Speaker A: So I think, yeah, this was the spider mission, to be fair. Okay. Yeah. So an immediate two. Did you express your belief drives heritage or background?
[00:22:53] Speaker E: I think I'm gonna argue for two there as well because I. Freeing the Sangreval was the entire point of the mission. That's of Algae's central beliefs.
I met up with Amringer, I spoke about my background as an old boy, had a little conversation with Magpie about my history in the military and also getting rid of the gem at the very end, sort of rejecting the crown of authorities. Authority.
[00:23:22] Speaker A: Yes, that was very true. That's very true. Okay. Yeah. Straight to for that. Did you struggle with issues from your voice?
[00:23:32] Speaker E: I think so.
[00:23:36] Speaker A: Yeah. There weren't any.
Any weird visions or anything like there was in the musto job.
[00:23:44] Speaker E: No withdrawals. I had that. I had that little hit.
[00:23:47] Speaker A: You had the bump? Yes.
Okay, marvelous. So that sounds like four for Algon as well.
Okay. Moving on to cavern.
You did some desperate also. How much sliding did you do?
[00:24:07] Speaker C: Well, I did.
[00:24:08] Speaker B: I do believe I tried to do a deception to Caleb with trying to say like, oh, you're not. You're not a religious man. What you talking about?
[00:24:18] Speaker C: Do you.
[00:24:18] Speaker A: Do you even religious text, bro?
[00:24:21] Speaker B: Yeah, but I think that was the only thing that I really did in deception, influence. It wasn't really sort of something that I could deceptive lot in.
[00:24:32] Speaker C: It was more of a mad cap through the sewers, wasn't it?
[00:24:37] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah.
In which case did you express your belief strives heritage or background?
Um, I'm seeing nods from Errol.
[00:24:51] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm. Well, I'm obviously using emergent divinity. I think again, yes is a big part of that. I'm not sure what else really.
[00:25:01] Speaker F: I mean, the whole mission was like the underdog sanguivire escape. I don't know, that feels.
[00:25:08] Speaker A: I mean, yeah, the. The whole. But you. You kind of knew that you were doing it and you had to do it at a point to stop, but you knew the children of irrupt or something and then that was kind of pulling the rug out from under them, seemingly just in the nick of time given their. Their prompt arrival just after you broke everyone out. Okay. I'll say two. I'll say.
Did you struggle from issues of vice or trauma?
[00:25:37] Speaker B: I'm gonna say it wasn't a really sort of romantic setting, shall we say. So probably now.
[00:25:44] Speaker A: Okay. It's something like three for Cavern.
[00:25:47] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:25:47] Speaker A: I'm happy with that three for Catherine. Nice. And last one not least.
Hi, Frieda.
So you did a number of desperates.
Oh, yeah, we'll figure that out.
[00:26:00] Speaker D: It's your fault because you're like, you always. You're always like, do you want to do a desperate? I'm like, yeah.
[00:26:04] Speaker A: All right, well, then, yeah, it's finale. Of course. Of course. We're going to trade position.
Do you have any recollection of doing any cutter like activities?
[00:26:19] Speaker D: So many. So many. I did a wreck on the drawbridge to try and get us out, and I also punched Mecca Caleb in the face and trying to sort him, but that didn't go so well. So I did like two things that said loads. So I think I definitely deserve a two for that.
[00:26:39] Speaker A: Two for that. That sounds good. Did you express your belief, strives heritage or background?
[00:26:46] Speaker D: Yes. So, like, in a very mechanical way, I used my wolfking impulsiveness to expend my armor when accepting a devil's bargain for the plus one, I believe that was again, while I was trying to consort with, um, with the kindling in the flashback. Um, and then, I mean, you know, the epic showdown with. With Caleb himself, you know, that was pretty. That was, you know, me fighting directly with my rival and then, like, getting to trap him in a ghost bottle by, like, grabbing him out of the air. Yeah, it's pretty. Pretty epic.
[00:27:25] Speaker A: Okay. And I think I'll throw this out to everyone else. Do we feel that Frieda was particularly reckless in the last mission?
[00:27:35] Speaker B: A little bit.
[00:27:38] Speaker A: On a scale of zero to reckless, how reckless do we feel? Freeda was being quite reckless, I think. I mean, yeah, I think every opportunity you got to trade effect position for effect, you took all the devil's bargains.
[00:27:54] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. And I think, you know, like, Frieda choosing instead of to save herself while being dangled over a pit of boiling, roiling rats, instead decided to just keep bare knuckle punching, keep swinging Caleb in the face.
[00:28:14] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, no, that's fair. I think we've got our first five xpath accrument.
[00:28:22] Speaker C: I feel like we've done a five XP in the past, I'm sure.
[00:28:26] Speaker A: Well, not like, not including the desperate, but I think this is. See, this is why trauma is a good thing, everyone.
[00:28:35] Speaker F: So learn more from trauma.
[00:28:38] Speaker A: Yes, yes. You develop as a person with your trauma.
[00:28:41] Speaker B: That's what they keep telling us.
[00:28:43] Speaker A: Yeah, that's what they keep telling us.
Marvelous. Okay, so five XP for Frieda. Um, off the back of your respective, uh, XP upgrades, have any of you got new skills or abilities to shout out about. Oh, Al Gonon.
[00:28:59] Speaker E: So I have chosen to become connected during downtime. I can get plus one to the result level when I acquire an asset or reduce.
[00:29:09] Speaker A: Oh, okay. So plus one to acquire and reduce heat. Nice.
Very nice. Okay, we will add that to the character sheets.
Anyone else? For anyone else?
[00:29:23] Speaker C: No.
[00:29:24] Speaker A: All Frieda.
[00:29:26] Speaker D: Yeah. I am now going to be vigorous, which I feel like I should have chosen a lot sooner.
I recover from harm faster. I permanently fill in one of my healing clock segments and take plus one dice to healing treatment rolls.
[00:29:47] Speaker A: Oh, so you only need three to.
Okay.
[00:29:51] Speaker D: You're the needed.
[00:29:54] Speaker A: Much needed. Okay, very good.
Sounds like a straight HP buff. Very nice. Very nice. Cool.
[00:30:02] Speaker F: Depending on what happens in downtime.
[00:30:05] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:30:06] Speaker F: I'm gonna decide. I might get two skills bumped up, but I'm gonna see what happens in. Sorry. In. When we choose what to do with our downtime.
[00:30:16] Speaker A: Gotcha. Gotcha. Okay, that's absolutely fine. Okay, so, well, besides the Schrodinger's upgrades for Atta, that is the players all advanced. Next up is the crew. A crew advancement. So did you do a specific crew specific thing?
Did you execute a smuggling operation or acquire new clients or contraband sources? Arguably, you smuggled 40 sangrevar.
So I'm, that is, I would argue, peak smuggler. So I'm gonna immediately talk. That was two. Did you contend with challenges above your station if you tangle with high tiers or more dangerous opposition? Mark XP for this.
You tangled with the watch, the children of ire, the hollow, and the rattos. So I'm gonna double xp you for that as well. Did you bolster your crew's reputation, which is now daring?
I'm gonna give you another two for that. And did you express the goals drives in a conflict or essential nature of the crew? This one is very broad.
[00:31:35] Speaker B: Think so?
[00:31:35] Speaker A: Yes. I think this is a.
This is a clean sweep. Eight out of eight XP for the crew. It was everything that the crews kind of built up towards.
[00:31:51] Speaker D: Well done, lads.
[00:31:53] Speaker A: 1234-5678 levels the crew up. So we will decide a little bit off camera what the new, new abilities or upgrades to the crew are as you come out of this run.
Very good.
Next, heat and incarceration.
So I'm going to start. You just remember just how subtle you were. I subtle as you were. I can't help but feel that it was wild, devastating exposure.
Given the prison is broken, the cathedral is broken.
Odor Merce is broken.
Yeah, the crotch is very broken. You had a standoff in the streets of Rook Ridge with songbird and the illness, I'm gonna have to say wild experience, exposure.
Everyone felt the effects of that score.
[00:33:14] Speaker D: That is rocking, you know, tavare and big daddy now.
[00:33:17] Speaker A: So, Tavare, big daddy, six, heat. However, your cover operation, which is working overtime right now, reduces that by two. So we're down to four and plus one heat for a high profile or well connected target, that's five add heat if the situation happened on hostile turf.
That's six add plus one heat if you're at war with another faction. No, surprisingly enough, add to heat if killing was involved.
If killing was involved, was it really hot?
[00:34:02] Speaker F: Was it really a hostile like turf? It was, like, neutral, really? Right?
Yeah, the sewers were definitely neutral.
[00:34:16] Speaker A: Well, I mean, the sewers were borderline trying to eat you, so I would argue that's quite hostile.
[00:34:23] Speaker C: So I'm just saying the rats were there first.
[00:34:27] Speaker A: I can. I can only give you two heat for if killing was involved.
So that is, what, a grand total of eight, which is 123456.
[00:34:42] Speaker C: Not even that many.
[00:34:43] Speaker F: What I'm hearing is, if killing is involved, it should be a lot of killing instead of just, like, wound.
[00:34:55] Speaker C: Penny in for a pound.
[00:34:56] Speaker E: Kelly was particularly involved.
[00:35:01] Speaker A: Because the handy thing is, if everyone's dead, then you go all the way back to the beginning to, like, no rep because no one's around to know you did it.
The plus side, that takes you to two, heat.
Wanted level three, you. The.
The name of your crew, which is arguably, as yet undecided, is on the lips of people throughout.
[00:35:30] Speaker B: Alicia, I'm also going to be a good boy and remind you that I did use emergent.
[00:35:37] Speaker A: Emergent divinity. You are a very good boy. Thank you. You are now on four heat onto level three.
[00:35:44] Speaker D: Thanks.
[00:35:47] Speaker A: You've already lived Dan's praise.
Okay. It's fine. Wanted level three. The helicopters and tanks will be coming soon, I think, on that wanted level.
Next up is. So that's he. No one's coming for you yet. We will now move on to entanglement.
So off your newly, newly acquired wanted level three.
[00:36:17] Speaker C: Is it new entanglements that we get at different wanted levels?
[00:36:21] Speaker A: It's. So the wanted level is how many dice I roll and then I take the highest. You're on four heat. That is.
[00:36:32] Speaker C: It's never a good sign when he looks like this, when he gets all thinky.
[00:36:37] Speaker D: What's broken?
[00:36:38] Speaker C: Okay, nothing's broken. He's just thinking about the entanglement.
[00:36:42] Speaker D: Oh, no. Who you screwing over this time, Dan?
[00:36:45] Speaker F: I feel like it's entanglements, not I feel like it's plural at this point.
[00:36:54] Speaker A: Okay, so we've upgraded. It's during. We'll do. We'll play the entanglement out. Now we catch up with you the evening, the early evening after the school. Where do we find each of you? Respectively. And obviously it can be the same place, but starting with Magpie, whereas Magpie, like, less than 24 hours later, like, you've spent a day seeing, like, you all now collectively know the state that the city is devolving into be a. What is.
[00:37:34] Speaker C: I think probably at some point, magpies got to make an appearance at home, right? So I think she would have started laying low and then might have gone home via a sort of subtle, maybe a rooftop route and sort of swung in through a bedroom window or something like that.
[00:37:52] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:37:53] Speaker C: I think maybe she's sort of making an appearance at home.
[00:37:56] Speaker A: Um, atwa.
[00:38:00] Speaker F: Okay. Whether Atta is going there by themselves is debatable, depending on what y'all think. But I feel like Atta would. We've got Tavarian in a big mech that isn't subtle and the mech was made by the hollow. I think Atta is heading to the hollow base to see if this mech, like, there are things there that this mech needs for, like, maintenance or where that can be where Tavarian hides out rather than bringing her with us to the spectre or the mansion.
Unless that seems like a devastatingly terrible idea. That's what Otta's doing.
[00:38:41] Speaker A: Algae.
[00:38:43] Speaker E: I think algae is going to be keeping an eye on the spectre, not so visibly, but just now. Now that it's like our vice turn, he wants to take, like, more of a backseat role there and just keep an eye on the news as it comes in.
[00:39:02] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:39:03] Speaker E: Keeping an eye on where. Yeah. Particularly about the sanguivar that we've just liberated.
[00:39:08] Speaker A: Sure.
Are the sanguivar being kind of cooped up in Kabwalada?
[00:39:16] Speaker E: Yes. Those of those who want to be sure, sure.
[00:39:22] Speaker A: Muster's got some friends.
Very good. Cavern. Where's Cavern, Jeremy?
[00:39:28] Speaker B: I like to believe that Cavern feels some sort of responsibility now towards Tavarian because of how much involvement he's had with her. So I think he's also following Atta down to where the hollow are to make sure that everyone is okay.
[00:39:44] Speaker A: Sure. So presumably, just to clarify, uh, sir, aster and cavern, it would be the celestry location. But you first met Umia.
[00:39:54] Speaker F: Yeah, yeah.
[00:39:56] Speaker A: Um, and Frida.
[00:39:59] Speaker D: Um, I think Frida will be actually spending some reflective time by herself, probably balled up in the. In the Cadwallader manner.
You know, she's just. She's now quite literally got the root of a lot of her problems in a glass bottle.
And she'll be preparing, I think she'll be wondering a lot about, like, where to go from here, you know, what. What to do about Caleb and also who she's going to tell about him.
[00:40:40] Speaker A: Okay. In which case, Magpie, you are en route to Chateau de Revelle. Revelle atarin Cavern. You're making your way to, like, the sewers of celestry. Algernon, you're kind of haunting the streets of Dusklan, keeping an eye on the spectre from a safe a distance as you can.
And Frieda, you're at home, like, on the one hand, safeguarding the Caleb snow globe, but also all of the sanguiva that are loitering about in response to what you.
In response to what you mentioned, Algaon.
The vast majority of the sangrevar at this point are still at Cadwallader simply because, like, the streets are potentially still quite hot for them.
Magpie?
[00:41:58] Speaker C: Mm hmm.
[00:42:01] Speaker A: Are you. Are you returning home Amina style or magpie style? It sounds like you are heading back Magpie style.
[00:42:10] Speaker C: I'm heading back Magpie style, but I like to think that I have a stash somewhere close to or on or close to the house where I can not be, not enter the house wearing my lurk clothes. Like, I've got a set of casual, everyday clothes that I can change into discreetly and then pretend to come to enter the house as if I'm just arriving or something.
So maybe I don't slip in a bedroom window. Maybe I come round the front and pretend to come door if I've just got back from a week of partying or something.
[00:42:48] Speaker A: Okay, so you make your way into your family home, like, if I meant you slipping through, like, the bedroom window.
And as you go to make your way down to, like, presumably in search of your.
In search of your mother, sort of like show faced. So just, you know, quite literally just alert her to your presence.
You find her in the study, which is curious because she doesn't spend much time ever since you, you were separated, like, you, your mother, your sister, were separated from your father.
She hasn't really spent. Spent that much time in his study, but that is where you find her.
And she cuts a peculiarly imposing figure, sat in his high back chair.
And as you like, she looks up to you as you kind of poke your head around the door, but she says nothing.
[00:44:01] Speaker C: Hello, mother.
I thought you might be worried about me, what with all the trouble there has been around the city days. I'd better come home and show you I'm all right.
[00:44:17] Speaker A: She looks at you with a steely gaze, her facial expression unmoving, and you notice that on the desk in front of her is what appears to be a folder file of some sort.
Cavern and Atta.
You swallow hard as you descend down into the the sewers and follow.
Retrace your steps back to the hollow base as best you can.
You see the turning to the right where at you're like perhaps more at home in the sewers. Given your companionship with Asma.
You see the interest to the hollow base that you've been there a couple of times now, so it's. It's also that that makes it easier to navigate to.
But curiously, you notice that there isn't that kind of cool blue glow emanating from the corner.
And as you and cavern peer around the side, presumably.
Hang on, did you, did you take Tavarian with you? I assume not because you had to clank halfway across the city with her.
[00:45:58] Speaker F: I think that was the plan, given that it was either take either leave her there at the tunnels in her newly acquired Meg, take her to Cadwallader, very conspicuously, or take her to the hollow base, very conspicuously.
[00:46:15] Speaker A: Well, I guess I'll let you decide then. Is Tavareen with you, like in and if so, what form is she in? Because you could always pull her out of the suit, put her back in the suit.
[00:46:26] Speaker F: I kind of. I don't want to pull her out of the suit for some reason. Feels like whiplash and we might note, get her back in there.
[00:46:36] Speaker A: Or perhaps you traced out a somewhat comprehensive map of the sewers using stuff from Algernon's files so she could just go under street.
[00:46:48] Speaker B: Yeah, we're trying to find somewhere to sort of keep her more protected than being a controller, okay?
[00:46:55] Speaker F: Especially since all the Stanglvara there as well.
[00:46:58] Speaker A: Okay. In which case, um, we'll say that atta, as you. What? As you and Katherine arrive, Tavarian has already arrived and is kind of awaiting you on the corner when you notice that there's no blue glow.
And as the two of you kind of poke your heads around, Tavari m solemnly says to you, I think we're too late, Algernon.
As you're watching from one of the street corners, you hear a commotion from down, like down the avenue, and you can see what appears to be a large contingent of city watch now festooned with black sashes, unlike the colored ones that they've worn in the past, marching down the street, strong arming and knocking people aside. And there seems to be what can only be described as a war band heading into Dusklan.
[00:48:19] Speaker C: Whoa.
[00:48:22] Speaker A: You know that if you were to duck out the way and kind of stay out of their way, they'll most likely just kind of march past you.
Or you. If you wanted to jump out and confront them, you could. But they see, they seem to be moving.
The way they're moving reminds you of the, the stoic determination you saw on the faces of the soldiers in the war of dragons many years ago.
[00:49:00] Speaker E: I think he's going to let them pass.
I think maybe a few weeks ago he might have been tempted to confront them, but after the jailbreak, particularly aware of being picked up again.
[00:49:23] Speaker A: Sure.
[00:49:23] Speaker E: In a way that's not part of the plan, yes.
[00:49:28] Speaker A: Okay. In which case, as you kind of lower your head and you kind of raise the copy of the treaties cover your identity somewhat, this squad of approximately a dozen city watch kind of march past you and you feel, you feel that slight drop in your stomach, in the pit of your stomach as they stop and then make a left onto the street under the familiar archway and from your corner you're able to see them begin surrounding the entrance of the spectre.
And with a heavy, with a heavy boot, one of the watch kicks the door open.
There are shouts and cries from the watch, nobody move. Nobody get on the ground. And you can hear the staccato thuds of cudgels connecting with the patrons of the spectre as these black sashed, new, new management city watch surge into the tavern.
Frieda and sort of atta and cavernous as you peer around the corner and you wonder what it is that Tavarian is mentioning, you look around and see this hollow outpost. At first glance it looks ransacked, but Atta, as you kind of take more of the detail in, you realize that it seems like nothing is missing and instead everything is simply destroyed.
The apparatus have been damaged, cables and pipes have been pulled out, flask smashed, their contents into mingling like oil on the ground.
And as Ata's. As Ata's kind of taken in all of the the broken apparatus cavern, you peer around a corner corner into one of the side rooms and your suspicions are confirmed when you see a lifeless leg poking out from around a corner and as you take in the horror of the massacre that has happened here, hanging haphazardly on a back wall is a remarkably pristine shield bearers Tabard Umi is nowhere to be found.
But you realize in this moment that perhaps the. With the backing of the watch, perhaps the shield bearers have finally managed to break the hollow and scatter them to the winds.
And at a. You watch as like the soft blue glow from Tavarian's faceplate as she slowly scans the area around her.
She hasn't got a face, but you can imagine that the look of.
You can imagine how distraught she must be. She would look if she did.
As.
As her. The glow sweeps across the room like a dim bull lantern.
A magpie.
Your mother pushes the file on the desk forward.
What are these?
She says, and she opens it to reveal a number of photographs remarkably similar to those you saw hanging up in Algernon's red room.
And they depict a figure darting from the shadows, flying across rooftops, and one central captured image of your face in one of the abandoned buildings of the ivory, and you recognize the building is where you first met the raven, and a flicker of movement in the corner and you watch as the candlelight glimmering off its silver corvid mask as the raven steps forward silently.
What is this, Amina? She says as she flicks the photos towards you.
[00:54:35] Speaker C: Sorry, this is Julia asking. The raven is in the room.
[00:54:39] Speaker A: Mm hmm.
[00:54:41] Speaker C: Wow. Okay. Um.
[00:54:44] Speaker E: He's crossed you up, mate.
He's told your mum.
[00:54:50] Speaker C: He's told on me. To my mum?
I think I would probably be slightly confused Magpie would be slightly confused by the presence of the raven in the room.
And she'll just say, this is ridiculous.
Why would I do any of this? This. Whoever this is, he's mum. I think he's. I think he's dangerous.
You mustn't listen to anything that he shows you. Somebody is. This is a sick joke. It's probably Lucinda. I've always hated Lucinda. It's probably her.
[00:55:33] Speaker A: You watch as the emotion, the clash of emotions, begins to crack through the stern veneer on your mother's face as she. You can see that she's struggling with what you're saying to her, and you catch her eyes flick for a moment to what appears to have been the envelope that this folder file was delivered in. The and the torn seal that was once holding this closed bears the crest of house Antalir and Lady Nefernae.
Don't lie to me, Amina. This has been verified by the Valemmars themselves.
How could you do this to our family, Amina? How. How could you do this to me? After all, I've done for you. And she flips the photo, smashes the photos across the desk onto the floor, and they flutter in the air.
[00:56:47] Speaker C: You think any of this was about you?
You think I care what this does to the family reputation? It's always been about status and what other people think with you.
I'm sorry.
I wasn't prepared to stand by and complacently watch the city burn like you were.
[00:57:13] Speaker A: There is a tense silence, and then from the corner of the room, no, you weren't, were you?
You helped burn it.
Lady Revelle, your daughter was complicit in the destruction of the cathedral of our glorious mother.
She was complicit in the death of Odel Mers Arran. She was complicit in the massacre. A bell tower prison.
And the raven turns to look to you, his voice resonant.
Your daughter is a monster.
And your mother is sat looking at you, and her face is etched with fury. Her eyes are etched with a pleading look.
Is it true, Amina, she says.
All of those people, they're dead. Amina.
Don't tell me it's true.
[00:58:24] Speaker C: I think it's pretty clear, mother, that whatever I say, you're not going to believe me anyway. You've never been on my side.
That's why I picked a side of my own.
[00:58:39] Speaker A: She lets out a strangled gasp, and then, horrifyingly, she turns and looks to the raven with a with the same pleading look that her eyes were giving you a moment ago. And whilst the raven doesn't turn to regard her, perhaps just the sight of him reinforces her enough. But she turns back to you, closes her eyes as tears begin to stream down her cheeks.
Get out, she whispers.
[00:59:15] Speaker C: What?
[00:59:17] Speaker A: This is not your home anymore. I will not let you drag down our family any further than you already have.
Get out.
Leave.
[00:59:36] Speaker C: Can I say goodbye to my sister?
[00:59:39] Speaker A: No, she says.
[00:59:43] Speaker C: All right, I'll go.
[00:59:50] Speaker A: As you turn to leave, you notice the raven is staring at you and there's an ever so slight tilt of the head.
[01:00:01] Speaker C: I mean, well, Magpie thinks about saying something as she's about to go, but in the end she just shakes her head and says, you, know, I never really felt particularly welcome in this house anyway.
I was never the perfect daughter you wanted.
I think I just accepted that a long time ago.
And by the way, my name's not Amina.
It's Magpie.
And she leaves.
[01:00:36] Speaker A: As you turn, you hear your mother fully break into a sob, and as you take a moment to glance over your shoulder and you see that the raven has somewhat followed you out to see that you're leaving.
And then seeing you down the hallway, he closes the door to your grieving mother and then vanishes.
[01:01:10] Speaker C: So it's what?
[01:01:12] Speaker A: Algernon, right?
[01:01:14] Speaker D: Snitches get stitches. We'll get him.
[01:01:16] Speaker A: Algernon, you.
You are stood a little way away watching the specter undergoing a full raid.
And you know that given the sounds of the violence that they're implementing inside, you feel it'll only be a matter of time before they find the secret entrance down to the speakeasy.
But you notice that whereas, like, these. These watch are heavily armed. Are you.
Are you stepping in or are you just.
Is the inevitable going to happen?
[01:01:59] Speaker E: I think as I'm alone, I don't really have the choice to step in. I'm just. They're gonna. They're gonna arrest me as soon as I intervene. But I was wondering if I could have one of the gossipers pearl earrings with the other one on the ear of Eric, the bartender at the UK.
[01:02:21] Speaker A: Easy, okay?
[01:02:24] Speaker E: And just give him a heads up that it's like code redhead. Get rid of every incriminating thing as quickly.
[01:02:32] Speaker A: Okay, excellent.
In which case, as you. As you can, I give him these instructions.
And, you know, the conversation initially starts with, what do you mean?
And through the gospel's earrings, you can hear the footsteps stomping around over his head.
Um, he kind of goes. He goes offline, for example, for all of us. He goes dark as he desperately tries to cover things up. And you, like, as you wait kind of impatiently to see if they are able to kind of COVID things up, you know, that Eric has got. There are. There is an escape route from the. The kind of the secret cellar of the. Of the spectre to be used in case of emergencies. So as your eyes kind of flip from the front door that's currently being kind of guarded by two of two or three of these city watch to this secret exit, you can hear the sounds of the Spectre being torn apart as these guard are they. They clearly seem to know where it is they need to be looking.
And I think the best way to deal with it, the spectre under your patronage is a tier two location.
So Eric will have a two nice fortune role to see how he fares.
[01:04:11] Speaker C: Oh, yeah.
[01:04:13] Speaker F: Oh, boy. What boy?
[01:04:16] Speaker C: Oh, it's a six. Oh, he's fine, he's fine.
[01:04:20] Speaker A: Here's a six.
[01:04:21] Speaker C: There's a secret tunnel.
[01:04:23] Speaker D: So that's what you get, Dan, for trying to mess with my favorite boy.
[01:04:28] Speaker A: So sometime later, you like, you are like. You hear a movement behind you and like, as you glance over your shoulder, Algernon, you are joined by Eric and Juicy, who, like, juicy her. Like, her face is red with anger and rage. As.
And Eric just kind of looks on as the watch systematically pull the specter apart.
They see Eric says to you, thanks for the heads up. I managed to lock the entrance to the speakers before I left. They're not finding it. And eventually, after about 25 minutes, the watch eventually kind of give up and leave.
They've dragged out the patrons and have them kind of chained and cuffed outside the speakeasy, face down on the coffin cobblestones.
And you and some other onlookers kind of watch on as the watch start kind of taunting and laughing at the. The patrons of the spectre. You watch as one of the younger ones who you recognize as being one of the ranked, one of the ranks of the shield bearers.
You watch as he kicks one of the patrons in the side as he's kind of cuffed and on the ground.
And the group of a dozen or so watchmen leave laughing, leaving Eric to see his livelihood in ruin.
So the speakeasy is safe, but the front facing aspect of the business is utterly trashed.
Cavern and Atta, what are you salvaging what you can from the hollow?
Okay, yeah. Um, I'm also going to rock again, because you're a tier two crew. I'm going to roll you another two dice fortune to see how well you do.
[01:06:40] Speaker F: Oh, wow.
[01:06:41] Speaker B: Yeah, you the cool stuff.
[01:06:44] Speaker F: We save ghosts. We save ghosts. We save all the. The ghosts.
[01:06:48] Speaker B: We make a ghost army.
[01:06:53] Speaker F: We get the schematics for the mech and we build more mechs and we make a ghost army of mech.
[01:06:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:06:59] Speaker F: That'S what happens.
[01:07:01] Speaker C: That is just what happens with a crit. Yeah, double six. Come on.
[01:07:05] Speaker A: In which case, yeah, off the back of a double six. A crit, no less.
Atta like you. You're glancing around this utter devastation in the hollow base like Cavern. Are you doing anything with the bodies? Like, Tavareen stood there looking at me saying, we can't leave them. We can't leave them like this.
[01:07:29] Speaker B: Yeah, I think Catherine's begrudgingly Marianne and sorting out the bodies and getting them into some sort of line order and covering them with rags you can find.
[01:07:44] Speaker A: Okay.
Um, in which case, atta. Yeah, as Katherine and Tavareen are dealing with the dead, like, you notice that, you know, like the GLA, the ghost orbs have been seemingly smashed and whatnot.
But you notice, so one of the secrets that you've picked up in your time when in that time working for the hollow, you saw a secret kind of cubbyhole that Umi kept some of her bits and bobs in that thankfully, like you remember how. Where it was and how to get into it. And that has not been ransacked, most likely because of its subtle nature. So offer critical success.
You are able to get all of the like. Within this kind of secret safe are all of the tools you'll need to kind of repair and upkeep Tavarian as well as Umi's research journal.
[01:08:42] Speaker C: That's pretty good.
[01:08:43] Speaker F: Spicy meatball. Amazing.
Very good.
[01:08:50] Speaker A: Um, so as the four of you kind of leave your respective places, um, we flash to Frida who, uh, presumably you're just kind of sat.
[01:09:03] Speaker D: Dreading really nice time having tea with.
[01:09:06] Speaker C: The sangria and musto.
[01:09:09] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah. As we leave, Frida like desperately trying to escape Mustow, who is taken to walking around Cadwalader Manor in one of Algernon's bathrobes and very little else.
[01:09:23] Speaker C: Does it just trail along the floor after him.
[01:09:26] Speaker A: He's got his. He's got his pork by hat and this long kind of silky, silky number.
[01:09:31] Speaker C: Oh, amazing. A kimono, no less.
[01:09:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:09:35] Speaker B: Long to Algernon's mum.
[01:09:40] Speaker A: It's really airy, I'll tell you.
[01:09:42] Speaker D: Frida, here's a bit of flavour for you. You actually find Frida sat in the middle of.
Sat in the middle of Algernon's old nursery that's actually been tidied up a little bit. I mean, in fact she sat on a tiny little stool and she's got this like pink frilly bonnet on. And around her are little tiny tea sets and dolls.
[01:10:11] Speaker C: I'm sorry, what?
[01:10:13] Speaker D: Two very small sanguifa children who are intent on serving her pretend slices of lemon cake on plates.
All the while Frida's kind of just a bit nonchalant and not really paying attention to what's going on because she's so focused on this ghost orb with. That's with Caleb's spirit swirling around and as I said, thinking about.
She's thinking about where to go from here.
[01:10:50] Speaker B: Have they drawn on her face where they've tried to do her makeup?
[01:10:53] Speaker D: Oh, absolutely. Yeah. There's like, there's a. There's a green smear of eyeshadow, there's an orange smear of eye shadow. This pink lipstick that's just kind of been smeared around here. It's beautiful.
[01:11:08] Speaker A: Amazing. Amazing.
In which case, yeah, as you all begin kind of gravitating back towards cabwall of the manor, like Frieda, you hear some movement, like from the secret side entrance, and you kind of turn up from this. This tea party to see who it is that's coming in. And sort of like, musto leans in round behind you. Oh, is it? Who is it?
And a figure steps into.
Whereabouts exactly is it you're in. In Kabwalada.
[01:11:46] Speaker D: Um, in the old nursery. In the old retinal nursery.
[01:11:49] Speaker A: Okay. In which case, yeah, you hear someone enter. Um, so as you excuse yourself and you kind of return to the main hall, like, where the. The entrance kind of brings you into.
You peer down to see who it is, and a gasp catches in your throat for a moment as you peer down at a stranger and this dark haired woman with a pair of large eye concealing glasses on her face looks up to you and says, my apologies, I hope I'm not intruding.
And then she smiles and we'll call it there.
[01:12:36] Speaker C: No, no.
[01:12:44] Speaker F: Downtime.
[01:12:47] Speaker A: Well, we'll go for a quick break and then we'll do all of the downtime y stuff.
[01:12:51] Speaker C: Arthur, what the heck?
So what was that entanglement you just rolled, Dan? What was that one called? Everything.
[01:13:00] Speaker A: Reprisals.
[01:13:01] Speaker C: Or.
[01:13:03] Speaker A: Reprisals, yes. In the next half, we'll do the downtime activities and then we'll figure some stuff out.
[01:13:13] Speaker F: Sure.
