[00:00:00] Speaker A: Previously on Alicia Rising. Atta, you've been able to insinuate that the story of what happens to people that die in Alicia is likely a lie you hear through the walls. A voice from outside. Bellow. Odomas. [00:00:26] Speaker B: Uh, quickly, inside. Come on, Kevryn. [00:00:29] Speaker C: All right. [00:00:29] Speaker B: You're back. [00:00:30] Speaker C: Um, I've been waiting ages. [00:00:32] Speaker B: Where have you been? [00:00:34] Speaker A: Sensing your presence, the circle of watchers slowly shift apart to give you access to the fighting ring. [00:00:43] Speaker D: Why have you come here? [00:00:50] Speaker C: Because I've got nothing left. [00:00:53] Speaker A: Two glassy orange lenses that peer at you from this figure as it leans heavily on one leg. An iron mask underneath the lenses concealing his face. [00:01:05] Speaker D: Everyone that was at the keep that night lost something, didn't they? [00:01:23] Speaker A: Welcome to Elysia, the jewel of the north. [00:01:28] Speaker C: On our gilded streets, fortune and fame can be found by anyone. [00:01:35] Speaker B: Hi, I'm Julia and I'm playing Magpie, an ace of our lurk. [00:01:40] Speaker E: Hi, I'm Nate and I'm playing cavernous, a dragon scent slide. [00:01:46] Speaker B: Hi, I'm Meg. [00:01:47] Speaker C: I'm playing Frieda, a wolfkin cutter. [00:01:50] Speaker F: Hi, I'm JC, and I'll be playing Algernon, an ace of our spider. [00:01:56] Speaker G: Hello, I'm Erol. I am playing atta, a goblin whisper. [00:02:01] Speaker A: And my name is DM Dan. I will be the games master on this adventure. So come on in and marvel at our wonders. [00:02:10] Speaker C: Make sure you see the beautiful views we have to offer. And don't mind the ghosts. Friendly, really. Grab yourselves a seat and make yourselves. [00:02:19] Speaker B: Welcome in the city of Elysia. [00:02:28] Speaker A: Hello and welcome back to explorers of elsewheres, Alicia Rising. Hi, I'm DM Dan. These are intrepid criminals of the lost and void. How you doing? You good? [00:02:46] Speaker C: Good break. [00:02:47] Speaker A: It was a very, very brief ten minute break. [00:02:51] Speaker C: Yeah, very, very. Which is why we've all changed outfits. [00:02:56] Speaker A: Yeah, power. Yeah, yeah. Right. We just. We're just into the costume change life here on explorers of elsewhere. Right. So, yeah, last we left off, we were delving into Frieda's hangover esque inspired hangover movie inspired escapades over the last week, whilst we were all busy keeping a low profile thanks to your recently attained wanted level. Yeah. Frieda had notably gone awol, and having found her looking slightly worse for wear on the steps of Kabwala damana, we are diving in. I reckon we just pick up immediately where we left off. Where we left you freed up, which is toe to toe in the middle of what? Some odds fighting ring in saints hollow. Toe to toe with a masked figure clad in some strange kind of all body leather and mechanical suit, a large black cloak draped over his his shoulders, a mechanical heavy wheezing as his chest and shoulders rise and fall, fall with each laboured breath and his words lingering. [00:04:37] Speaker D: Everyone who was at the keep that night lost something, didn't they? [00:04:54] Speaker A: What do you do? [00:04:56] Speaker C: Frida is initially caught off guard by the sort of, you know, this presence that has to be honest, somewhat haunted her dreams since the inferno at the keep, but then steals herself and sort of squares her jaw and says, well, I've not got anything left to lose now. So this operation of yours, what's the end game? [00:05:41] Speaker A: The figure is motionless, apart from the visible breathing, punctuated by this kind of whining, wheezing sound. And the orange lenses just stare blankly at you. We. [00:06:10] Speaker D: Seek to save Alicia from herself. There is a rot, a plague that infests her very foundations and only through burning it out can we see thrive again. It is not in my interests to pressure anyone to follow in our visions for the future. So you are free to stay or go as you wish. But know this, we never forget our face. [00:07:25] Speaker C: In my line of business, I've heard a lot about the different ways of in which the different factions across the city think that Alicia could be saved. What makes you think that your ways any better than anyone else's? [00:07:56] Speaker D: Because I have seen the faces of those who wish to lead Elysia further into the pits she finds herself in. I have seen the faces of betrayal, of gluttony, of pride, of foolishness. And I know they are all wanting. [00:08:37] Speaker C: Well, the experiences in my life would suggest I agree with you there. [00:08:46] Speaker A: The figure stands up straight and you notice at this point he's kind of been stood with a bit of a hunch, but you always hear sort like the creep as this figure stands to full height and then, seemingly in quite a lot of pain, raises an arm to place it on your shoulder. [00:09:14] Speaker D: There is always a place for lost and wayward souls in the kindling. Together we will see Elysia to a purified future. [00:09:37] Speaker A: And you notice at this point the figure slumps slightly, seeming seemingly in pain. And a number of the kindling around you kind of move forward to catch a. This cloaked figure be holds a gauntleted hand out to stop them and takes a step away from you and think. [00:10:08] Speaker D: On my words when the upcoming war. [00:10:16] Speaker A: Begins, and decidedly more kind of haggard in movement, the figure shuffles towards the edge of the circle, which parts to allow him to leave. You notice he doesn't return to the throne like chair that he was originally sat on, but instead disappears into the shadow and you hear a door opening somewhere else in this location. [00:10:49] Speaker C: Right. Well, then what now? [00:10:56] Speaker A: So over the space of the next few days that you found, found yourself in amongst the kindling, there were, you were privy to, like, surprisingly, quite, quite openly privy to a number of, like, attacks around the city. The individual that you were spoken to, you would hear through sort of like, hushed whispers among the other kindling. The figure is known to that. Well, the name that he is given is Velka, which you've also heard it, like, some. Some refer to the figure as the infinite, but it would seem the actual name is Velka. Yeah. There are a number of kind of staged attacks through the city. You notice that they seem to be. That the kindling are attacked, like, launching assaults and attacks on the. On the children of Aya, especially. Their sort of more kind of evangelical pushes throughout, Alicia, drumming up support for. For the faith, but also kind of running kind of street battles with the guard, the most prominent of which was an assault on bell Tower prison. Yes, I know. It's very exciting, isn't it? Yeah. An assault on Bell tower prison, which saw a group of them descend upon the prison and begin launching alchemical fires at the prison guards. Were you part of any of these attacks? Because you were always given a choice. [00:13:06] Speaker C: I think Frieda would have taken part in some of these activities in less of a prominent role, but I know she certainly wouldn't have felt much remorse for any attacks, certainly against the children of Arya, but, yeah, she would have been. She would have been there, but maybe keeping, like her on the. On the back foot a little bit, so, you know, sort of keep recognition to a minimum. [00:13:41] Speaker A: Did you join in the attack on the prison, on belt out prison? It was. It was more of a statement piece, just a run and gun, really. [00:13:54] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'd say. I'd say Frieda would be. Would have been trying to make it seem that she was as serious about joining this faction as she possibly could. I think she would have. Where she would have probably drawn a line was if any of those attacks were, you know, against the sort of civilian population, like, you know, directly against a civilian population. [00:14:36] Speaker A: So something you. You were like, something you noticed is that all of the attacks seemed. It seems to be targeted at institutions. [00:14:47] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:47] Speaker A: And, like, the attacks were never targeted against the. The peoples of Elysium, but through his kind of sermons and preachings throughout your time there, like, you realize that the targets of the attack were what Velka believed to be this kind of internal rot that infested Elysia. And the attacks are almost designed to sort of, like, cut away and cauterize the wounds. That that was the idea of it. [00:15:25] Speaker C: Do I get what? What? Because I think. I think Frieda is intelligent, would be intelligent enough to realize that if you start cutting down, if you start cutting off the limbs of power like that, it's. It creates a vacuum for other things to fill in its place. So whether. Do I get the sense whether the kindling of it, trying to fill in those spaces themselves or orchestrate who fills those spaces? Or are they just pure chaos? Are they pure, just the rich chaos? [00:16:05] Speaker A: One thing you wouldn't have noticed in your time there, like Velka would always preempt and kind of conclude attacks across the city with these kind of sermon type speeches, but it was always about the process of kind of purification and, like, cleansing Alicia of this poison. But, yeah, there was very little kind of talk of what would come next. As someone who would have grown up in anger, you get the feeling that Velka is someone who's kind of stuck. Is it? Who's hooked on some sort of sentiment of anger. You also know, you noticed during one of his. Like, that whenever the word betrayal is used, that word seems much more kind of barred. [00:17:15] Speaker C: Yeah, I think something happens to Velka. I think Frida would actually be quite attracted by that prospect, and that that kind of would have. Would definitely recognize a kindred spirit in that, and I think she'd definitely be sort of struggling against this sort of, you know, this pull to just give in to the anger herself and just, you know, fall in deep. And then the sort of reasonable, rational part of her brain that, you know, has sort of come to learn through her crew and her affiliations that there's more to life than just revenge and betrayal. [00:18:06] Speaker A: Yeah. You certainly get the feeling that those sort of, like, nihilistic tendencies, the draw from those who seemingly would have nothing left to lose, that the city of Elysia has all but forgotten or kind of ground into the dirt. They fill the ranks of the kindling. Um, the sentiment of, we don't know what is better, but it's not this kind of thing. It's not. It's not the current state quote. So. Sorry. Go. [00:18:40] Speaker C: I was gonna say, while she's there, is there a way she could see if she could get close to the infinite in some way? Find out a little bit more about his deal? And why is. Why is the way he is? What's with the suit? [00:18:59] Speaker A: So there are. You notice that apart from this, like, the sermons seem to be the only times you see like Velka in person. Other than that, you notice that he seems to be a very particularly kind of private and discreet person, like, only coming out for public appearances. But you notice that each public appearance seems to take a toll on him. And there are whispers. There are rumors amongst the other kindling. Some say that he. He is, in fact, the very essence of the wild flame. And it is his essence that ignited the keep and consumed. Like the heathen, the heathenish traitor, Algarve. Others say that within the suit, it is a collection of tortured and tormented souls seeking some sort of vengeance for whatever it is they're seeking vengeance for. But the rumors never, never really line up. They always kind of err to the more fantastical. But you're never able to kind of pin him down to kind of clarify these for yourself. But you do note, you know, it is clear to you that he is capable of achieving some incredible kind of seemingly impossible tasks. Like, you saw the fire of the ruby keep consuming stone, like, burning magically and hot enough that it would. It was, you know, effectively eating the stone. And yet, despite watching him willingly walk into the flames with Algarve, he's still here. So there is something about him. Very quickly, as you think back and, you know, relay some of this to your crewmates as you glance over at Magpie. When you joins the kindling for the attack on the prison, why didn't you, like. Why didn't you make yourself known to Magpie? Who was there? You. So, after the attack started, a number of the kindling running forwards and launching these kind of alchemical fires at the walls and the guards and down the street. You saw Magpie in her, you know, to be a telltale cloak before being smuggled away by, you think, songbird, because. [00:22:02] Speaker C: First off, I know that Magpie can look after herself. And secondly, I didn't want to blow my cover, sure, okay. But if the things were not hairy, I would have. I would have stepped in. [00:22:19] Speaker A: Well, with that in mind, yeah, Frida, that brings us back up to the present, and we now find the five of you, like, in Kabulah Damana. How much of this. How much of your week are you regaling the other crewmates with? [00:22:37] Speaker C: I think I will. I'll tell them about, you know, my. My intent to sort of garner information. I will tell them about my involvement in some of the sort of the goings on that the kindling done. I would relay everything about all that I know about the infinite and, you know, and the sort of rumors surrounding his being and his. And presents the fantastical and the not so fantastical. I think what Frieda probably won't tell them is that there's a rather strong part of her that wants to go back. [00:23:33] Speaker A: Wow. Keeping that shtum. [00:23:37] Speaker B: Burn it all down. [00:23:40] Speaker A: Is there? So, as Frieda kind of finishes recounting her past week, are there any questions from the class? [00:23:55] Speaker B: So you've been industrious? [00:23:58] Speaker C: Oh, I. It's been a busy old week. What have you not been up to? [00:24:04] Speaker B: I just want to linger on this point about you joining the kindling for a second longer, if that's okay. Are you sure about this? Are you okay? [00:24:15] Speaker C: I'm. [00:24:16] Speaker G: I'm. [00:24:16] Speaker C: I'm all right. You know, I'm. I'm a big girl. Can look after myself. And I thought, I dunno, why should. Why should you and Algernon have all the sub to sub to? Oh my gosh, I can't say the bloody word. [00:24:31] Speaker F: Subterfuge, friede. [00:24:32] Speaker C: That's the one. I. I knew you'd know it. [00:24:38] Speaker B: I suppose we have been cozying up to the hollow, haven't we? Well, sorry, the, um. Is the hollow, isn't it? Yeah, it's, um. I suppose the more movers and shakers in this city we can keep happy, the better. [00:24:55] Speaker C: Well, I am in a, um. I guess in a prime position now. I'm garnering trust with them. For what it's worth, I. I'm not sure I trust them. I just. I guess I wanted to get the measure of the man who can walk into flames so easily. [00:25:16] Speaker B: Did you find out anything about that? Like how he did it? [00:25:25] Speaker C: Not really. Nothing that isn't outside, you know, the realms of fancy, to be honest. [00:25:33] Speaker A: You. [00:25:33] Speaker B: You got a good look at his outfit, though, didn't you? [00:25:37] Speaker C: I did. I got a good look at it. [00:25:44] Speaker A: So it would have struck you as like you've never seen anything like it. Like a seemingly thick, leather like substance. Metal plates and so like cat metal caps. And there seemed to be, you know, sort of hard. Some sort of hard structures beneath the surface, while others were kind of soft around the joints. For example, one thing you notice, like the mask in particular, seeing it up close, you realize that there are two lenses atop what it was. Effectively a mash of sort of like, metal wiring and plating, kind of all coming into this kind of chevron like mouth guard. But you. You just noted that there was not a single part of him that you could see that was his actual, like, body. Like everything. He was completely encased in this suit. [00:26:58] Speaker C: Anyway. Look familiar to me? [00:27:03] Speaker A: No, only in so much as you saw it. Like, it was the same suit that he was wearing on the night of the keep attack, but otherwise, no, this looks completely kind of bespoke, you would wager, like, almost custom made in a way. [00:27:22] Speaker B: Like, I guess the magpie would be wondering what. What atta thinks of Frieda's description being a bit of a tinkerer, alchemist, ookie spooky lady herself. [00:27:35] Speaker G: Definitely waited as part of this conversation, but would have asked about the alchemical fire that you, Frida. You would have been given some during the prison thing, right? Just, uh, like, did you notice anything weird about it? Did you. [00:27:56] Speaker B: Did you savor that? [00:27:59] Speaker G: Did you remember where it was kept and given out from? [00:28:03] Speaker C: Can I. Can I. Can I flashback to maybe pocketing some. [00:28:16] Speaker B: Daisy? Daisy's very excited. [00:28:19] Speaker G: Daisy's like, yes, no rhymes needed. [00:28:24] Speaker A: You absolutely can. You absolutely can. So you. You flashback, and it's the. It's the, like, the eve of the attack on the prison, and, like, during Velka's kind of encouraged, like, speech, kind of pre battle speech, you noticed a number of sort of, like, crates being kind of brought out by other kindling members and sort like, as a top surprised off, um, these crates just being filled with. It was almost like a kind of wine bottle type crates. Um, you know, where it's all divided up into rows and columns. Um, but there it was just filled with, um, bottles of this very kind of bright orange, very treacly looking liquid. Um, and if you want to attempt to pocket one, let's call that. Let's call that a risky standard. Prowl. Finesse. Prowl or finesse. [00:29:40] Speaker C: Oh, let's do finesse. I've got a. I've got a pip in finesse. Risky standardization yet. Oh, boy. [00:29:47] Speaker B: Do you want to do anything to. [00:29:50] Speaker C: Oh, boy. Yeah. I keep forgetting I can do things, can't I? Let. [00:29:55] Speaker A: You can push yourself for anything. [00:29:59] Speaker C: Yeah, let stress. [00:30:00] Speaker A: Is it one or two stress? I'll also add a devil's bargain. Regardless of what happens, a rival faction finds out you were affiliated with the attack. [00:30:26] Speaker B: It's so vague. [00:30:27] Speaker A: A rival faction of the kindling will know that you were associated. [00:30:33] Speaker B: Oh, boy. [00:30:34] Speaker C: Okay. Okay, good. [00:30:38] Speaker B: You taking it? [00:30:39] Speaker C: Oh, sod it. Wind up. [00:30:42] Speaker A: And if you want to go triple or nothing, you can then use your wolfgang ability to get. To get two upgrades instead of one. [00:30:52] Speaker C: I forgot about that. Oh, yeah. Yeah. All right, so what's that? Plus three now? [00:30:59] Speaker A: So three. [00:31:00] Speaker C: Yeah, plus three. Two stress. Risky standard. [00:31:06] Speaker A: Yeah, you can improve your effect if you so wish. You can trade your position for even more effect if you so wish. So you can make it a desperate greater so that you can do for free. But you've still got three upgrades to add to this. [00:31:37] Speaker C: So it'd be like if I did effect. Great. Like, risky grate, then it'd be two plus two dice. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, let's do that. Let's do risky grate plus two dice. [00:31:49] Speaker A: Okay. [00:31:50] Speaker C: Okay. I hope everyone's got their fingers crossed. [00:31:54] Speaker B: Literally have. [00:31:58] Speaker C: Oh, okay, okay. [00:32:01] Speaker A: That's not a no consequence stuff. A harm, a complication occurs, you have reduced effect, you end up in a desperate position, you just burn your little fingers. Okay, so the complication. A long term clock entitled oh, no investigates. [00:32:28] Speaker C: Whoa, wait, what what was that? [00:32:32] Speaker B: What should be. [00:32:34] Speaker A: You are clocked by one of the prison guards at bell tower, and they're following up on the attack. Also during the attack, um, magpie, you, as you were led away by songbird, um, this isn't the place for. For you now, she. You remember her saying, um, unbeknownst to you, uh, songbird then looks back over her shoulder to spy a familiar looking wolfkin woman amongst the crowd of the kindling. Oh, but you manage to get a, unlike, damp bottle, undamaged, one full vial of this kindling. Alchemical fire for attas investigations. [00:33:31] Speaker B: Great success. [00:33:32] Speaker A: Do not drink it. So, yes, we've all of that. Anything else from the crew, or shall we start our mausoleum downtime gone, then? Yeah. Okay, so let's start at the top. So, payoff, probably much to Frieda's chagrade. Um, you, who's going to meet Umi to hand off the ghost bottles? And are you moving the bottle, the ghosts, to a number of bottles, or just keeping them all in one? [00:34:17] Speaker B: Don't keep them all in one. That's cramped. [00:34:21] Speaker G: I I kind of feel it would also give. Well, if umi thinks about it hard, which maybe isn't very umi like. Yeah, then it might give them clues as to what is going on in the mausoleum. We don't really want to give the hollow any more information that we really. But if it's very risky to try and transfer ghosts to individual bottles, then. [00:34:49] Speaker A: I say chuck me a quick, controlled standard, like tune or tinker, probably. [00:35:05] Speaker G: Controlled standard. And if I don't want to push myself. So it's a little. I get three dice. [00:35:16] Speaker A: Everyone's cracking on the stress in downtime. [00:35:20] Speaker G: Well, then I might not be able to get rid of it. So. [00:35:26] Speaker A: One way to look at it is if you take two. More stress. You can't overindulge. [00:35:30] Speaker G: Right. I wrote I rolled anyway. [00:35:32] Speaker A: Okay. No, nice. So, yes, you successfully managed to. It takes you a little while to figure it out because there's a point where you're, like, holding the orb with all of the ghosts in, just kind of like, dong, like, banging them together in the hopes that they'll just transfer. But no, for. For the rest of you, in Cabalada Manor, there's a few. There's a few moments where sort of, like, all the candles in the room that you're in just kind of get blown out and you hear sort of like this wailing coming from upstairs, followed, presumably, by atta going, don't worry. Yes, we managed to transfer you divvy up the souls, and you have got the prerequisite six that you require, plus the spirit bottle with Tavarean in it. So, yeah. Who's handing this off to Umi? [00:36:31] Speaker B: I think Atta should probably take the lead on. On this. She's the expert, but I'd be happy to go with her. [00:36:39] Speaker G: Can anybody. Anybody that's good at talking to people? Oh, like, regular people can also come with me? [00:36:46] Speaker B: That's not me. [00:36:48] Speaker A: Regular people. [00:36:49] Speaker B: I mean, um, he's not regular people. [00:36:51] Speaker G: Please don't leave the weirdos unescorted. [00:36:55] Speaker F: Yeah, Atha might not come back. [00:36:58] Speaker A: Okay, so, Athen. Algernon. So, yes, you head back to sort of like that sewer hideout and beneath the celestry. Um, and, like, you might have thought that she was a bit, kind of excitable when you first met her, but when you produce these six kind of ghost orbs, Umi is all but bouncing off the walls. And just like, the. The frenetic talking to herself just seems even more, kind of frequently and lengthy than it was before. So there's a moment, Algernon, where you. That you feel that kind of moment, that sense of impatient impatience, as I. Umi just goes on a massive kind of monologue to herself whilst sort of, like, looking at. Or shaking it and then, like, watching this kind of miasma just floating around inside it. Um, yes, these. These will do. They're very. Well, they. You have done exactly what we have asked, and this makes me very, very pleased. Um, I. We are hoping that we can potentially do some future business with you if you can continue to bring us fine specimens. Shall we say one, uh. One coin per soul? And, uh, to show you here is six coin for six souls. [00:38:34] Speaker F: Sounds like a deal out, girl. [00:38:37] Speaker A: And, like, she becomes so excited, she just goes like catatonic. [00:38:46] Speaker B: What does that look like? [00:38:53] Speaker A: Just hear sort of little pops and squeaks coming from her throat, but they're not actually verbalizing into like words. B's. Umi seems extremely happy and yeah, if you, if you want to do, do some more stuff on the side, if you were able to get more ghosts one way or the other, she will pay one coin per ghost. [00:39:22] Speaker G: I think on the way walking to where Umi is with algaenon or, or traveling in a more like, you know, secure manner. I think Atta will ask Algernon, do you think they're gonna do bad things to the spirits? [00:39:45] Speaker F: Well, we saw their little workshop in the old bakery, so I imagine so. Does that bother you ata? [00:39:56] Speaker G: Yeah, Atta seems after like the high of the heist, Atta has seemed quite like low and sad, which is not necessarily very Atta like, but she's also drawn on each of the ghost bottles. Like a pair of glasses for one and a mustache for the other and like a hat for one of them and kind of giving them Atta. [00:40:19] Speaker F: You mustn't get attached. [00:40:20] Speaker G: Hello, my name is Gloria. But we've all had people maybe that aren't here anymore or like people that might not be here anymore. And I don't, I wouldn't want anyone I know getting poked and prodded in their spiritual bits. [00:40:46] Speaker F: Well listen, we also saw what Erdel Mercer's people were doing down in the mausoleum. I'm not sure they were any more at rest from where we took them to where they're going. [00:41:02] Speaker G: Would it be okay if I asked Umi if I could maybe just do like a little, just see them do one of their experiments, then leave? Would that be. [00:41:15] Speaker F: I think that would be an exceptional idea. Atta Frida is off doing her reconnaissance. We can do a little of our own. [00:41:25] Speaker A: Okay, so tell you what, as a future downtime activity, you can join in on some hollow experimentation. Cool. So you have achieved, you've earned some coin. Next step is to look at how much xp you've all gained. So whistle stop tour start. Let's start from the bottom. Frida was not part of the job, so we'll figure that out a sec. Cavern. [00:42:06] Speaker E: So I did, I did one desperate role. [00:42:10] Speaker A: You did, you did a desperate attune. So pop that in and then. Yes. Did you, did you do your specific playbook trigger? [00:42:23] Speaker E: I feel like I was quite deceptful, especially to Lulu. [00:42:28] Speaker A: Yeah, I think everything you did was, was on brand for Cavern, so let's call that too. [00:42:35] Speaker E: And because I did my emergent divinity. Can I also use that as sort. [00:42:43] Speaker A: Of like, your heritage? Yeah, sure. [00:42:46] Speaker E: So including the desperate, that will be four. [00:42:49] Speaker A: Overall, you did not struggle. Yeah. It would have been a terrible place to have struggled with your vice and your voices. So, yes. For XP, for Cavern. Okay. Al gone on. I don't have any desperate recorded, but did you do playbook specific things? [00:43:13] Speaker F: I think I can maybe argue for one. I sort of diverted attention away when we were getting some attention from the guardhouse by using sort of blackmail and conspiracy or trying to. [00:43:27] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. You palmed off that liquor onto the passing sergeant. Okay, very good. Your drives, beliefs, heritage, background. Did you express those? [00:43:44] Speaker F: I don't remember that I did. [00:43:49] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:43:50] Speaker E: I was gonna say, could I argue that you convinced Odalmus to use the rat traps, starting up a new business? [00:43:58] Speaker F: I did do that. I did do that. [00:44:01] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So we'll definitely have one for that. And you, I don't remember you having any struggles with your vice or trauma. Okay, so a two. Two xp for algae. [00:44:15] Speaker G: Did Algernon in the. In the last heist do anything around, like the old boys network? I seem to remember something. [00:44:22] Speaker F: I trust. I. I was maybe hoping the guard who was gonna catch us was one, but it wasn't. [00:44:31] Speaker A: Yeah. Came down to the place was not o fay with the jolly boating weather with which you are very much. Okay. Okay, so, yeah, through fragonard, uh, atta, uh, you did a desperate. You did a desperate tinker. So. One. In your, um. In your udemy flip, in your insight. And. Yeah, for your, um. Were you particularly whispery? [00:45:01] Speaker G: So my whispery activities included prepping balls, using balls, and creating a special jewel for Katherine. So. [00:45:11] Speaker A: And teleporting ratty poppers. [00:45:15] Speaker G: True. Yes. [00:45:18] Speaker A: Okay, so, yes, very much atta's domain. So let's call that two. Did you express belief, strives, heritage or background? [00:45:31] Speaker G: The only thing that I could sort of argue there is using rats. Big, big on the background rats, street stuff. [00:45:42] Speaker A: Love asthma. [00:45:43] Speaker G: Rats. [00:45:44] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah, I'll go with that for, let's say one. [00:45:50] Speaker G: Okay. [00:45:51] Speaker A: And struggled with issues from your vice or traumas. So your vice being ghosts and bubble and everything. But I don't think there were very many struggles as. As the job went. It went swimmingly well for everyone except Catherine. [00:46:08] Speaker B: It did. [00:46:09] Speaker G: I'm happy with the. I'm very happy with four. [00:46:13] Speaker A: Okay, we record the four and Magpie. [00:46:17] Speaker B: So I did a desperate command role that didn't go very well. So I can't remember. I don't think. I don't know, if I put the pip already in my resolve. I don't think. [00:46:29] Speaker A: I don't think you did. [00:46:30] Speaker B: No. Okay, fair enough. I'll add that I definitely did a bit of skulking and sneaking. I've got a note here in session nine where I prowled about. And I also did a bit of lockpick. So I think I probably get an xp for that. [00:46:46] Speaker A: Sure. [00:46:47] Speaker B: In terms of expressing my background's belief drive, not a huge amount. It does strike me that trying to be all commanding and everybody come this way was probably me trying to imitate people like my mother who are really good at doing all that, you know, aristocratic, ordering people about stuff. I'm just not very good at it. So I think I was trying to emulate that. I was trying to channel my sort of noble channel your inner mother parentage. Yes, exactly. Exactly. So maybe. Maybe there's one in there for me for that. So maybe three. [00:47:21] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay, that sounds good. [00:47:22] Speaker G: Thank you. [00:47:25] Speaker A: Wunderbar. So we had 3423. I think we. It was for Cavern. So, Frida, why don't we just go ahead and pop three xp in Frida's playbook as well. [00:47:39] Speaker C: Okay, that's fine. I think. I think I probably would have, you know, done something coercive or violent at least once in a week. [00:47:49] Speaker A: Certainly. You were certainly coercive and or violent in your week with the kindling, so. Yeah, we'll call it that. Right. So next on the agenda is all the crew. So the crew, did you execute a smuggling operation or acquire new contra. New clients or contraband sources? I'm gonna say yes, because your new contraband is the dead. Yay. So one xp for that. You, did you contend with challenges above your current station? Yes. You went off against odor Merse, bolster your cruise reputation or develop a new one. We recently changed your reputation to daring. Think that was particularly daring to go right into the mausoleum and pluck out Tavareen. So we'll say three so far. Did you express the goals, drives, inner conflict or essential nature of the crew? I'm going to say yes because the whole purpose of the mission was, like, tavarian. And like everything that that you built around it was for the sole purpose of what's gonna set you on this path in the first place. So I'm gonna call that four XP as four XP 123. Which takes you over to a new level. Yeah. Which gets you a new upgrade or two new upgrades or a new ability. So I think we're going to figure out what that's going to be kind of off camera because there's quite a lot of options and I will talk about it in the episode ten faction actions. Let's do that. Cool. Also, rep needs to swing back round to rep. So due to your leverage ability, you automatically earn three rep. You went up against the pillars. The pillars are a tier three, I believe I saw. The chamber is a tier three, so that is two above your station. So another two rep and then people knew about it. So you keep the rep. So that's five rep, which also increases your hold. One, two, three. [00:50:45] Speaker C: Question is, are we strong enough to kick Muster van out the running now? [00:50:49] Speaker A: Maybe. Well, so you are now you have successfully, if you want to pay the coin. So have we got eight coin amongst us? [00:51:01] Speaker C: We've got three. [00:51:05] Speaker B: Have you? [00:51:06] Speaker C: Yeah, we've got six room umi. [00:51:11] Speaker A: Bear in mind, you'll have to pay two coin to the onishi, so. For living in their dentinal. Yeah, but. So we've got four from the. From two of you. Anyone else chipping in? How much of the. How much of the four that you got from this job? Are you popping in or do you want to use all of it? And that's your eight. [00:51:33] Speaker G: Makes sense. Hasn't got any coins to their name. [00:51:37] Speaker A: Sure. Well, the two of you that funneled money out, there's this coin in the, in the gang still. Okay. So, uh, yeah, you are able to upgrade to a strong tier one hold. So you are. You're getting towards the big leagues. And we've discussed this off camera. If you were to upgrade, you're going to go for a cover operation. So here, from here on forth, you're able to establish. Yeah, like different, different methods of dispersing heat on yourselves. And we'll figure out what that looks like at some point in the near future as well. Now the heat. So you are currently on two heats on 23456. I'm not gonna actually, I'm not gonna count second. So I'm fair about this. Right? After score conflict with an opponent, your crew takes heat according to the nature of the operation. [00:52:37] Speaker B: Hmm. It's only a little mausoleum, little one. [00:52:44] Speaker A: I'm going to say that the mausoleum job was contained standard exposure. [00:52:52] Speaker B: Okay. [00:52:52] Speaker A: To heat. Because you, the three of you that were on site pretty much kept your. Your covers up. And all of the freneticness came from the shield of Elyse you're attacking, which would have arguably diverted attention away from. [00:53:14] Speaker B: You all that gives them heat, right? [00:53:17] Speaker A: Yes, yes. Add plus one heat for a high profile or well connected target. Absolutely. [00:53:25] Speaker B: Now, never heard of him? [00:53:29] Speaker A: The bastard of odor versus empire. So that is three heats. We are currently on adds plus one heat. If you're at war with another faction, no. Adds to heat if killing was involved. No, that had already happened. And, uh, Catherine, you noticed from your, when you were kind of exfiltrating, um, that the shield. The shield bearers that were defeated were like. They were tied up, they weren't dead. So it looks like odor. Mercenaries are pretty on point there. That is three heat. Everyone except someone went supernova. [00:54:17] Speaker E: No, that's already been put on there. [00:54:25] Speaker A: Which is five heats. [00:54:27] Speaker B: Oh, no. [00:54:31] Speaker A: It takes you to seven of nine. [00:54:34] Speaker B: No, that's ridiculous. [00:54:40] Speaker A: Your heat, your wanted level has not risen. Okay, so not yet. [00:54:47] Speaker B: So we haven't got our second GTA star. [00:54:50] Speaker A: Next up is entanglements. [00:54:54] Speaker B: Uh oh. We got an entanglement, Dan. [00:55:01] Speaker A: We do? [00:55:03] Speaker C: Is it of the sexy kind? [00:55:04] Speaker B: I was gonna say the only entanglements we should be getting into is somebody getting tangled up in cavern's juicy thighs. [00:55:15] Speaker A: I mean, you never know. That might be the reason for this very entanglement. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. We'll play that out in a sec. So, downtime. So you each have two each. So let's start from my top and go to the bottom. Magpie. [00:55:48] Speaker B: Yes. [00:55:50] Speaker A: What are magpies to? [00:55:51] Speaker B: I want to reduce heat and not reduce heat. I want to. That would actually be a very good idea, wouldn't it? Reducing heat right now? So maybe I will do that. But first of all, I'm going to indulge my voice. [00:56:06] Speaker A: Mm hmm. Where are you doing it and how are you doing it? What are you doing? [00:56:12] Speaker B: What am I doing? I haven't. Haven't done any public civic good in a while, have I? That's a thing I could do, I think, in my noble identity. I'm going to go and, I don't know, can I mentor disaffected elysian youth? I don't know. [00:56:40] Speaker A: You can head to one of the orphanages. [00:56:43] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:56:43] Speaker A: Do a reading hour. Yeah. [00:56:46] Speaker B: Reading hour at the orphanage. Yeah. I'm going to put some time in. I'm going to give back. [00:56:50] Speaker A: Okay, please roll me your first indulge. [00:56:56] Speaker B: Remind me what I roll, because I've done this. [00:56:59] Speaker A: Roll your. So, two dice on the left, indulge vice, popping your stress, and it's a one dicer off the back of your resolve. [00:57:10] Speaker B: One? Just one. Oh, blimey. I can't overindulge, which is the good news. I could under indulge. Look at that. [00:57:22] Speaker C: Oh, nice reading. [00:57:24] Speaker A: Where was that? [00:57:25] Speaker B: It's sick. [00:57:26] Speaker E: She just bloody loves kids. She just loves reading. [00:57:29] Speaker B: Bloody love reading to kids. Yes. So I. [00:57:35] Speaker A: You've done well in not seeing them as nothing more than mushroom mulch. [00:57:42] Speaker B: It's just actually connecting with some living humans has been good for me today. I say humans. I use the term loosely. Right. And so probably I was gonna train, but then I realized I could reduce heat for the party. So I'm. Maybe when I go to. I was thinking for a saying, could I do something useful at one of my various parties that I have to show up to to sort of continue showing my face in the noble social circles? I could sort of start. Really kind of. Well, maybe. What could I do? Could I start a rumor about. I don't know, that I heard that the shield is going after. Well, not. It's not even a rumor, is it? I mean, just report. Just sort of spreading that news that the shield is going after the chain bearers and just kind of bolstering that idea that it was the chain bearers, maybe rather than. [00:58:54] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:58:54] Speaker B: Wait, wait. [00:58:55] Speaker A: As a project. As a downgrade project, you can, like, go after another faction. So whether it's kind of. Whether you're actually attacking them or it's. [00:59:07] Speaker B: More just trying to. Trying to kind of spread a rumor that takes the attention off investigating us in connection with what happened at the mausoleum. It's heat. Yeah. [00:59:20] Speaker A: Yeah, you go for it. [00:59:22] Speaker B: But it feels more social. I don't know if that's the best approach for Magpie, when she much prefers to pray owl when she can, but. Oh, that's a very good cat. Very good cat, isn't it? [00:59:36] Speaker A: Worst case scenario, you will reduce some heat regardless of what you. [00:59:41] Speaker B: That's true. That's true, that's true, that's true. I might as well. I might as well try. [00:59:45] Speaker A: So, in which case, I guess my sway. [00:59:49] Speaker B: Am I using my sway or my. More of a consort, isn't it? [00:59:53] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:59:54] Speaker B: I've got any pips in that, but, um. Okay, yes. [01:00:01] Speaker A: So if you two dice on the right. And do what? A zero dice fortune. [01:00:09] Speaker B: Okay, so that's a one. Whoops. [01:00:15] Speaker G: Sorry. [01:00:16] Speaker B: So we get one of heat off. [01:00:19] Speaker A: One pit of heat off the right fruit. Yes. Right. [01:00:23] Speaker B: Okay. That's better than nothing. [01:00:25] Speaker A: No, exactly. Um, right after magpie is atta. So, atta, what is your first downtime activity? [01:00:38] Speaker G: My first downtime activity? I think I will. I don't know what you want to categorize. Going and spending time, quality time with the holo would be. Would it be acquiring an asset or would it be? [01:00:57] Speaker A: Effectively, it's a long term project, but obviously we're cheat coding long term projects. [01:01:05] Speaker G: So I did have an idea around acquiring an asset for downtime, which would be. We don't, even though Atta is very into ghosts, don't have very many repositories of information about ghosts. And obviously, if hollow are doing, like, experimentation on spirits and ghosts, then as long as Atta is incredibly well behaved, she takes no rats to this encounter, then perhaps the asset could be access to some kind of library or information or notes, like, maybe not full, I don't know, whatever you think it's appropriate. [01:01:47] Speaker A: Yeah. So let's have a look. So. Well, so if you acquire, I think what we'll do, given that we've changed how, like, long term projects work, like, require assets, is like, the temporary long term project would be the permanent acquisition of. So let's just call, like, acquiring an asset a project as well. Similar, like craft, like we did for crafting. So with that in mind, effectively, you're. You're looking to secure access to, like, literature, documentation on the spirits. [01:02:31] Speaker G: It will be like, all hollow. [01:02:34] Speaker A: Yeah. Hollow related, I would argue. Yeah, they're. You would. It would seem that they're quite. They're experts in their field, for better or worse. Okay, how are you approaching the hollow to see what you can get? [01:03:00] Speaker G: Maybe just a really nicely arranged bunch of rat tales as a, you know, a gift piece offering gift. But no, I think the way that Atta is approaching the hollow is in a very helpful manner. Like. So she requested to, like, observe, and she will take extensive notes for the hollows purposes. She doesn't intend to take those notes with her. She's basically trying to be a good grad student for that day in order to the word kind of ingratiate her presence and try be allowed back. [01:03:43] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah, I'm on board with that. Which skill are you using? [01:03:51] Speaker G: Oh, I think this could either be a study or it could be in an attune. If I want to go for, like, more hands. If they seem like they want hands on help, I'll go attune. If they seem like they don't want hands on help, I'm still a little bit weird. I'll go for a study. [01:04:16] Speaker A: They are more than happy with either. So it's whatever atta, whether she wants to go theoretical or practical. [01:04:25] Speaker G: Oh, Ata always goes practical. [01:04:28] Speaker A: Okay. Okay. In which case, yeah, roll me. And the tune, you can start buffing that up with. Put pushing yourselves and whatnot. No matter what happens. This is. This is a harsh one. I'll be very surprised if you take it. No matter what happens during your time with the hollow, they get rumbled and you're caught up in the fall out. [01:05:03] Speaker G: Oh, no, we don't need no more heat. We need less heat for sure. But I will push myself. I'm just trying to make the decision of whether I want an extra dice or whether I want to go for a greater effect. [01:05:19] Speaker A: So I'm going to say it's going to start as a risky standard. And whilst you're in your element, you are also working with like, relatively new ideas, and you're also trying to match the borderline insanity of the people around you. They do great teachers, they do not make. So you're having to patch up a lot of gaps, which means, yeah, risky standard to begin with. [01:05:47] Speaker G: Okay. As much as I would love to go go for a greater effect, I'm feeling nervous today, so I'm gonna add an extra dice for pushing myself. I think that's the, that's the roll. [01:06:01] Speaker F: Okay. [01:06:02] Speaker G: Okay. [01:06:07] Speaker B: Look at all those threes. [01:06:09] Speaker A: It's a good thing you rolled that extra, isn't it? Okay, so a four, you do it. But there's a consequence. The cost of acquiring the knowledge that you did from the hollow was that during one of the experiments, one of the spirit orbs fell from a countertop and smashed. And it took slightly too long for the other people in the room to banish to destroy the spirit that began siphoning your soul energy off. You're going to have a second level harm. Oh, soul drained. [01:06:59] Speaker B: No mean you can resist. [01:07:05] Speaker G: I get the resist would be resolved. I don't get to. Yeah, I don't get to add my special armor to that. [01:07:17] Speaker B: You've also got a lot of, a lot of stress already. [01:07:28] Speaker G: Second level harm is pretty rough though, isn't it? [01:07:31] Speaker A: That's what cavern had for minus one dice. But you could, like your seconds, you could get it healed. You can also spend coin to get extra downtimes if you want to de stress and heal, or you can spend rep like crew rep. It's calling favors. [01:07:50] Speaker G: And I roll, I roll. I would roll resolve to try and resist it. [01:07:55] Speaker A: So one dice, how much stress have you got? [01:07:59] Speaker G: Resolve is, is it just one? [01:08:03] Speaker A: So you've got one skill in the resolve tree. So it's one dice resists. Yeah. Atta is currently at seven of nine stress. Yeah, you'd need a five or six. [01:08:21] Speaker G: I think I gotta, I'm gonna have to take that. I'll have to take the harm then. [01:08:25] Speaker A: Okay. Soul drains. I'll add that to your oh, yeah sheet. Okay, so you feel like in the aftermath of the attack, you feel somewhat wheezy and. Yeah. Anything kind of magic related, anything kind of ooky spooky related going forward that relies on your kind of soul mat. Soul energy is gonna be a minus one dice. What's your. But you at least, you know, you know what has happened to you. You've got the books, you've got the knowledge on. Now, what's your second downtime? [01:09:09] Speaker G: Second downtime is going to be. Sorry, I can't reduce any heat. I'm gonna reduce some stress. [01:09:15] Speaker A: Mm hmm. [01:09:17] Speaker G: Do my best. Is it just. It's just one dice from the thingy down in the left, right? [01:09:23] Speaker A: Uh, yeah. So dice on the left. Uh, one dice, indulge rice. You're at seven. Stress. [01:09:31] Speaker G: Oh, no, look at that. It do be like that sometimes. [01:09:38] Speaker A: Do you want to buy another downtime? [01:09:41] Speaker G: I don't have any coins, Dan. [01:09:44] Speaker A: Uh, well, the crew's got three in the kitty. [01:09:51] Speaker G: That's crew decision. Maybe crew finishes their all of their downtimes and then. [01:09:56] Speaker A: Sure, we'll do a vote. Okay. In which case, next. Okay, so, yeah. Algaon. What's Algaon's first downtime? [01:10:08] Speaker F: Cool. I'm going to try and reduce some of this stress. I have. I've been flirting with four or five for a while. [01:10:13] Speaker A: Sure. How are you doing it? [01:10:18] Speaker F: I'm going to be developing some of the pictures that I've been experimenting with using the foresight chemical, the magic bath. And then I'm also going to try and get some kind of premonition that might help us reduce heat. [01:10:38] Speaker A: Okay, so double whammy. [01:10:40] Speaker F: Yeah, I'm thinking about Sergeant Leach, the cut. The guard sergeant who harassed us before. [01:10:47] Speaker A: Mm hmm. The mausoleum's newest recruit. [01:10:53] Speaker F: Oh, did he die? [01:10:55] Speaker A: No, no, he. That was the name that Catherine gave you? Yes. [01:11:02] Speaker F: Oh, yes. [01:11:05] Speaker G: Okay. [01:11:05] Speaker E: Not as good as dying, but. [01:11:11] Speaker A: In. [01:11:11] Speaker F: That case, I'm just gonna use the foresight to reduce some stress. [01:11:14] Speaker A: Sure, sure. Okay. [01:11:16] Speaker F: Hey, guys, welcome to another video. [01:11:30] Speaker C: And look up something on blades. And it just ignore that. [01:11:36] Speaker E: That is de stresses. Just watches YouTube videos. [01:11:43] Speaker A: It could have been the Pornhub intro music. That would have been okay, right? So, yes. Algon, go ahead and roll me a two dice. Indulge ice five stress. Oh, no. [01:12:07] Speaker F: Interesting. [01:12:08] Speaker A: Okay, so you go for a little dip, but a bit too long. You go a bit pruney. [01:12:16] Speaker B: Oh, so exciting. [01:12:21] Speaker A: So you've cleared all your stress, but you have to choose one of the following you attracted trouble. An additional entanglement. You brag about your exploits. Plus two heat, you vanish for a few weeks. [01:12:33] Speaker F: Okay, bye. [01:12:37] Speaker A: Your current purveyor. So your supply of foresight cuts you off. [01:12:44] Speaker F: Yeah, I mentioned a while ago that my supply of foresight is limited. [01:12:51] Speaker B: You've burned through your last reserves. [01:12:55] Speaker A: Okay. In which case, so are you tapped? [01:13:02] Speaker F: I'm tapped. [01:13:04] Speaker E: Okay. [01:13:05] Speaker A: So, as you like, lost in the. The maze of kind of visions and premonitions whilst kind of floating, like floating in the ensuite bathtub, what is it you're hoping to see when you're under? [01:13:25] Speaker F: So Algernon uses this to just get all kinds of information, sort of like a word cloud of dirt and black, mailable information and intelligence that he can use just to try and get the upper hand on anybody or to get a little bit of insight into people's lives. And, yeah, it does burn through his eyes and take him over a little bit. And his mind starts to wander, thinking about all of the military people that he's trying to get off our case. He's thinking about blackthorn, and he's thinking about the people that he's already screwed over and the people that he left behind at the EIC. [01:14:22] Speaker A: In which case, as you. As these. As thoughts of all these kind of people flash through your mind, as you know, the foresight allows you to kind of delve down the strands of possibility you're. You find yourself struggling to sort of, like, look past. Like you keep on coming back to a singular point. It feels like you're going in circles. And what's distracting is this ephemeral voice calling your name. And every time you hear it, you feel yourself wrench back to what would. What you feel like is square one. And every time you try to delve a bit further, you. You hear the voice and go back to where you started. And trying to fight against this. This voice in your head, it. The stubborn. You have the potential stubborn streak that runs through you means you stay submersed, submerged in the foresight longer than you should. The sense that the burning sensation is almost dulled, almost like you've gotten used to it. Until you hear Algernon. And as you turn, you find yourself in a black, inky void that coalesces into the grand hall of Cadwallader Manor. And stood in front of you is what you now know to be an ace of our woman with long black hair and concealing glasses. And there's a rhythmic beating. And as you turn to look through the windows of Cabolo da manor outside seems like it's crystallizing in blood red. And as you turn back to Blackfoot, the vision of Blackthorn in front of you, you notice that you can see into her chest cavity. You can see what looks like a large, heart shaped ruby almost. It's time to wake up, Algernon, she says. And as you, your head kind of, your eyes open, your mouth following that opening as well, foresight falls down your throat. And as you splutter and cough and hurl yourself out of the bathtub, your arm catches the vet the jar of the last of foresight and you hear a smash of glass as it clatters to the floor. And you watch the foresight spread across, tinted with broken glass. And what you recognize momentarily later as blood from the cuts on your forearm. And as you cough and hack up the foresight that made its way down, down your windpipe, the memory of her voice is seared in the front of your mind. And what's your second downtime? [01:18:16] Speaker B: At least you're not stressed anymore. [01:18:20] Speaker F: That's done wonders for my anxiety. So, thinking of Sergeant Leach, I'm glad you reminded me about a little lie at the mausoleum. I'm gonna, like, send a few letters, send a few references to make sure he gets us tied down in red tape. People who actually want him to get this new job as much as possible to make sure that lie comes, even if it doesn't come to fruition, it just inconveniences him enough to get the guard off our case for a little bit. And that will reduce our heat. [01:18:56] Speaker A: Sure. Okay. Yeah, roll me. Well, which skill are you using to implement that? [01:19:05] Speaker F: I think it's swaying. [01:19:07] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I'd say that I'd agree with that. So, yeah, Romney a sway. See what happens. [01:19:17] Speaker F: Five. [01:19:19] Speaker A: Okay, so that is two more heat off the tracker. You're down to four. Very good. Very, very good. Okay. And that is Algernon, um, cavern. [01:19:29] Speaker E: Um, I'm going to do something a bit different and I'm going to reduce some stress. [01:19:33] Speaker A: Oh, okay. Very novel. Um, how are you doing that? Where you doing that? [01:19:37] Speaker E: Oh, where do I go? Um, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna. [01:19:42] Speaker A: Pop back to the bed sheets of my saline tonight. [01:19:47] Speaker E: I, yeah, I'm gonna pop back to the chandelier, I think, and see what I can find is happening there. I like to think that maybe I've gotten in some, some good graces with people who I've been chatting to at the gold pot. Maybe sort of invite them back to the chandelier after they spent their money there. [01:20:11] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Okay. Yeah. Roll. Go ahead and roll. For your indulge. It's a. What is it? For you, it's a one dice. Indulge. Off the back of your insight. [01:20:25] Speaker E: My stress is 123471 dice. [01:20:37] Speaker A: Three. Okay, so three stress gone so far, taking down to four. What's your next activity? [01:20:45] Speaker E: I've got an idea, but I would rather put it to the group. If there is anything that they feel like would be better, that I would do to help the crew first, if there's anything that we feel like actually needs doing, rather than me just sort of indulging in a small idea. [01:21:06] Speaker A: If you know anyone who's selling foresight, that'd be great. [01:21:15] Speaker E: I mean, do you want me to reduce any more heat or. [01:21:18] Speaker B: I mean, you could focus on training or something. If there's anything you want to train or craft or. [01:21:24] Speaker E: So there wasn't. It wasn't particularly training that I wanted to do. I actually wanted to because we haven't checked in on them for a while. And I think in the back of Katherine's mind, he's still thinking about why the children of Ayah wanted those items. And considering that the shield is now getting involved with all of this and sort of like his conversation with the keepers regarding the garden keepers, I wanted to investigate what the children of Iowa currently up to. [01:21:59] Speaker A: Okay. [01:22:00] Speaker E: As I said, like, if anyone can think of anything else, I wanted to do, like a little as sort of like a long project in a way, to see what they, what they're currently up to. [01:22:18] Speaker A: Looks like you've got the approval of the crowd. [01:22:22] Speaker E: Cool. [01:22:24] Speaker A: Um, okay, so you're. How are you kind of framing the investigation? What is it you're doing specifically? [01:22:31] Speaker E: Um, I think. I think it would be better for me to use sway because obviously I've got more in it. So I think I'm going to be talking to more of the. More of sort of like the younger members of the children of Ire, possibly ones that don't really know much about me, obviously trying to keep out of the way of Dorothea and maybe talk to some of the, sort of Shmoo, some of the people who are sort of shouting the streets and things like that and see kind of what, you know, try and actually get, like, a little bit more information rather than, you know, oh, we're just great. We're gonna save the veil sort of stuff. [01:23:24] Speaker A: Okay. No, I'm. I'm on board with that. I'm gonna start you off on a risky standard. I'm actually gonna start you on a risky limited. Okay, so risky because there is the risk that someone may recognize you, limited because you'll have to push. Like, it seems like the children are being kind of guarded about the reasons for the sudden kind of expansion of, like, faith drumming up. Okay, so starting you on risky limited, and, yeah, feel free to boost up regardless of what happens. [01:24:13] Speaker E: Is this is devil's bargain. Or if you just say no, this is gonna happen. [01:24:17] Speaker A: So devil's argum. Regardless of what happens, your investigation does not go unnoticed. [01:24:31] Speaker C: Are all these nosey parkers nosing into our business? [01:24:35] Speaker E: Nosing into our. [01:24:38] Speaker B: There's always someone nosy lurking in the sidelines. [01:24:44] Speaker E: Um, yeah, I'm gonna take that bargain. Okay, can I take that for a greater effect? [01:24:52] Speaker A: That'll take you up to standardization. So risky standard. And then if you want to push, you could go up to greater. Or you can get an extra dice, you can trade your position for effect. So if you take the devil's bargain, you've got one upgrade. You could push yourself to desperate standard to begin with. What do you mean? [01:25:19] Speaker G: Down times? [01:25:22] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. If fatal wants to tag along. So you're at risky limited to begin with, but you can worsen your position to increase your effect. [01:25:33] Speaker B: Okay, that's without the devil's bargain. [01:25:37] Speaker A: And that's just. That's just baseline. So it's you kind of putting your neck out a bit more. Yes. If. If atta wants to help. Um, that's a stress for atta. Yeah. [01:25:53] Speaker E: You're already pretty stressed at us. [01:25:55] Speaker G: I am pretty stressed. I was mostly asking the question because I couldn't remember whether we could help during downtime activities. [01:26:00] Speaker A: So atta asks, pointing a dalgon on a magpie with their zero stress. [01:26:06] Speaker E: It may help. Um, no, I think nice and relaxed. I think I'm gonna stick with that. I think I'm gonna stick with a risky standard. [01:26:17] Speaker A: Okay. Not pushing. [01:26:19] Speaker E: I think I'm gonna keep my stress for the score. [01:26:22] Speaker A: Sure. Okay. Okay. So, yeah, risky standard resolve. And your investor, your snooping, does not. [01:26:31] Speaker E: Go unnoticed in sway. Yeah. [01:26:35] Speaker A: Yes. Okay, so you. You successfully work your way through the. Like, the groups. You. You specifically, you find yourself targeting the groups of, like, newer recruits, like faces you don't recognize on the hopes that they, too, don't recognize you. And you've caught on quite quickly that the moment you kind of show that you have some degree of knowledge, of iron faith that you shouldn't, you're one of us kind of mentality. These kind of newer recruits that open up, the first thing you acknowledge is that these people are quite white. Green, like green around the gills. Like they are so not green around the gills. They are. They are sort of like new recruits. Like they are very new. They seem a lot more zealous than you would expect the children of eyes to be. They're almost borderline like shield of Elysia Zelis. They're very, very pushy. Perhaps that's why they've been put on these drives to expand throughout the city. What. Is there a particular question that you are hoping to get answered? [01:28:05] Speaker E: I guess the one thing. Well, I want to find out why they're collecting. Why they're collecting arcane artifacts. Is there another reason to be collecting arcane art? [01:28:22] Speaker A: Artifacts, sure. [01:28:24] Speaker E: But also what they're. If they have any idea of any. Any big things that are happening, like, is there, you know, is there any plans like that they know of? [01:28:38] Speaker A: So one of the recruits tells you. Well, that's, that's simple. We're. We're going after the artifacts because, well, the blasphemous. They're heretical. They. They are steeped in the their heresy of house Antillea and the arcane. And. And the. They are cursed with the attentions of a car. We can't be having dealing with that in the city. We can't. We have to. We have to destroy them. We we're doing all we can, obviously, to to erase all that, erase the stain of the arcane within the city. And just as the garden keepers proved with such a grand gesture, I, uh, may grant her her boon. Well, yes, I mean, obviously, the. The high priestess lucrative and the other priests and priestesses, they are still in. They are blessed with. With eyes magics, and they don't want to scare the people, which is why they keep the their magical castings to a minimum. They don't want to upset the balance. But for the. For the rest of us, the ayah is. Iris is looking for us, but she cannot reach us. So the stream of magic from her is limited. But as the garden keepers proved, um, if you dedicate yourself to such a grand gesture that will curry favor with Aya, then surely it will act as a beacon with which she can find us and bestow upon us her her power. And that's what we need to do. We need to. That's why we're trying to expunge all. All of this, all of a filth from our city. [01:30:59] Speaker E: Well, that's. I mean, that's very true, but obviously, ayahs always wanted us to do that. Surely there must be something greater, greater that we can do to guide Arya to our, to our need. [01:31:18] Speaker A: The initiate looks around and sort of like the other initiates are sort of like busy pestering citizens with like pamphlets and flies and the like and just stopping them. And like, you see one person who's got this poor, sort of like, poor woman, like he's gripping her by the shoulders and he's like reciting holy scripture into, like, directly into her face and she just looked utterly mortified and like, scared. The encounter, this initiate kind of leans you in and, well, yes, as I say that the gesture has to be grand. It would seem that the, the garden keepers were, were kind of cultivating a seed of Gogoldin for years. And I mean, that's what, you know, that go Golden's grace saved us further from that, from that fire, that inferno just over a week ago. So if I was to save all of us, we need to make the, the offering as grand as it can be, which means we have to expunge all traces of the arcane from the city. And as he, he sort of puts a hand on your, like, puts an arm round you when he says, like, all of the stain from the city and like, gives you a very pointed look and then his gaze slowly begin, like, very briefly turns in the direction of bell tower prison. [01:33:02] Speaker C: I don't like him. [01:33:06] Speaker A: And once, once we have, once we've cleared the city, then our faith will radiate out and draw ire to us. [01:33:23] Speaker E: Cavern sort of gathers himself from that sort of imagination and goes like, I see. [01:33:31] Speaker A: Wow. [01:33:34] Speaker E: Thank you. I will, I will make sure to keep an eye out for those that may prevent us from seeing eyes light. [01:33:52] Speaker A: Off the back of your bargain, a new clock appears. [01:34:00] Speaker B: Um, no, stop it with the clock. Cavern is roped into genocide and it. [01:34:08] Speaker A: Will be called Dorothea arrives. And your complication, we don't want that. It's two pips on the clock. No, stop it. Cool. And that is it for cavernous. Uh, last but not least, uh, what's Frida up to now? She's back with the crew. [01:34:30] Speaker C: Okay, um, I think Frida would definitely like to de stress. Um, she hasn't seen Jocasta in the fighting rings for a while, so her first port of call is there. Um, so yeah, she's going to indulge in her vice yet. [01:34:49] Speaker A: Okay. Um, punchy. [01:34:51] Speaker C: Punchy blackout. [01:34:53] Speaker A: It's actually Jocasta that steps into the ring. Uh, she seems somewhat irate that you went AWol for so long. [01:35:03] Speaker C: I don't worry, woman, I haven't been cheating on you. You promise? [01:35:08] Speaker A: You say, as you're dodging jabs and hooks? Um, okay. Roll me a zero dice. Indulge off the back of the. Your insight. Okay. [01:35:20] Speaker C: No one stress. [01:35:25] Speaker A: Jocasta lands quite a few heavy hits that you notice almost seem to be impeding your ability to fight and sort of like, you know, punch the stress out. So you're down to full stress. What's your second downtime? [01:35:46] Speaker C: Okay, I want to be a bit sneaky here. [01:35:50] Speaker A: Uh huh. [01:35:52] Speaker C: Breeder wants to sneak back to the kindling. [01:35:59] Speaker A: Okay. [01:36:00] Speaker C: And I would like to conduct a bit of a long term project. Okay, which is who, in essence, attempt to garner favor with the infinite, become one of his or their inner circle. But I do not want any of my crew to know. [01:36:36] Speaker A: Okay, which skill are you using? [01:36:41] Speaker C: Which skill am I using? Um, consort. I mean, that's why I want to be. I want to be. I want to become a consort. [01:36:52] Speaker B: Do you want to become the infernite's console? Sort. Think about it. [01:37:06] Speaker C: I certainly want sort with him. I do want to become. I want to become the infinites BFF. If I can. I want to get close to him. I want him. If I can. I want. My. My intent is to get myself into position, into a position over a long, long term goal that, you know, he feels that I am entirely aligned with his goals. [01:37:37] Speaker B: Second in command. [01:37:39] Speaker C: Yes. [01:37:40] Speaker A: I'm going to start this as a risky limited. [01:37:48] Speaker C: Okay, do you want an idea of, like, how I. How I begin this? Because I know I'm on the. [01:37:55] Speaker A: Well, bear in mind, so long terms are now. We're now dealing with in one role. [01:37:59] Speaker C: Oh, okay. Oh, okay. Okay. [01:38:02] Speaker A: So we'll start you as a limited, a risky limited. So you can trade that for a desperate standard if you like, and then you build from there. [01:38:18] Speaker C: Fuck it. Let's do it. Let's do a desperate. [01:38:21] Speaker A: Okay, so you start on desperate standard. Yeah, it'll be a consort. Are you pushing yourself? [01:38:32] Speaker C: Yeah, I just did a. Did a stressor. Let's push ourselves. [01:38:36] Speaker A: Be two these just to push. [01:38:39] Speaker C: Yep, that's fine. [01:38:41] Speaker A: Okay. No matter what happens, happens, you are provoked to fight for the position. [01:39:08] Speaker C: Okay? [01:39:12] Speaker A: Okay. [01:39:13] Speaker C: Okay, so is that a devil's bargain as well? [01:39:16] Speaker A: That's a devil's bargain. [01:39:17] Speaker C: Okay, so where does that leave me? [01:39:21] Speaker A: So you've got two upgrades. So that's desperate standard. So you could go desperate greater and plus one dice, or you can leave it as you can get plus three dice. [01:39:33] Speaker C: Let's do desperate great. Plus one. [01:39:36] Speaker A: Okay, so three dice. Console, desperate, greater. You're attempting to wiggle into Velka's inner sanctum in a circle. [01:39:47] Speaker B: Is that what they call it these days? [01:39:48] Speaker A: Oh, yes. [01:39:50] Speaker C: I'm gonna see what's underneath all the. [01:39:52] Speaker B: Leather you really don't want to see. [01:39:58] Speaker A: Looks like a sous vide hand joint in there. [01:40:04] Speaker C: Oh, man. Can you imagine just how much, like, talcum powder you'd need to get into that every morning? [01:40:13] Speaker A: Okay, roll them, bones. Three dice. [01:40:15] Speaker B: Oh, God. Oh, God, that is painful. Two ones and a three. That's horrendous. [01:40:26] Speaker C: Can I resist that? [01:40:29] Speaker B: Wait, wait and hear what the consequences for first. [01:40:34] Speaker A: Okay, so that's a three. It's the worst outcome. So first things first. Roll me. Just like, roll me a skirmish, like risky stand. Doesn't matter. I'm just looking for the dice roll. [01:40:50] Speaker C: Oh, mister standard skirmish. Oh, there's the good bloody rolls. I see. [01:40:59] Speaker A: Okay, you have to, like, you begin your. Suppose you're doing. Because you're doing it in. You're trying to do it in a short amount of time, right? And your sudden kind of intrigue in Velka piques the interest that gains you the attention of none other than Jeff, who, it would seem, is also trying to curry favor with Falcon. [01:41:44] Speaker C: Well, he's got stuck name. [01:41:45] Speaker A: Anyway, off the back of a partial success, Jeff challenges you to a fight, which come. Which is stopped by Velka, but not before you suffer level two harm. [01:42:08] Speaker B: Oh, no. Okay. [01:42:15] Speaker A: And that will be. Well, I'll figure out exactly what it is. Like, what fight it is. I mean, I think level two is like, something is broken. Like, you. You and Jeff's have to savage each other during the space of this fight, which forces Velka to intervene. So that's your first one. Level two, Hulk. [01:42:36] Speaker C: Okay. [01:42:37] Speaker G: Okay. [01:42:37] Speaker A: You also. Velka, off the back of Jeff's protestations, is suspicious enough to kick you out of the Kindle. That's your second outcome. So you can resist either. [01:43:01] Speaker C: Um, I will. [01:43:03] Speaker A: And it will reduce. Reduce the severity of them. [01:43:06] Speaker C: Can I. Can I reduce the second? I don't want to be kicked out. If I have to take a broken bone for it, then sure. And I want to spin it in that, like, you know it. Just taking a broken bone shows my dedication. [01:43:28] Speaker A: Sure. So to resist it, it will be prowess. So you get three dice for this. You. You do get plus one experience in resolve, because you did a desperate consort. And I comment. Kevin didn't go for that in the end, did he? So, yeah, the. If you resist the expulsion, then that will just mean you have, like, lost favor. Like, you've effectively gone all the way back down to bottom run. So Velka will be very guarded around you, but at least you can still be around him. So you'll need to roll me a three dice resist. [01:44:17] Speaker C: Okay. That's just straight prowess, isn't it? [01:44:22] Speaker A: Yes. [01:44:26] Speaker C: Why is with these rolls, damn it. [01:44:35] Speaker A: You suffer three stress. [01:44:37] Speaker B: No. [01:44:39] Speaker C: That fills my stress bar. [01:44:41] Speaker B: No. [01:44:46] Speaker A: Which means that on the dirt, the visage of Velka bearing down on you, and his voice seemingly amplified in his rage, and the lenses of his goggles flashing with light, the realization of the consequences of your actions, all like the damn breaks. And you're washed away in the deluge of whatever trauma you have just obtained. And as we reduce your stress bar to zero and add plus one trauma, Frida, we'll call it that. [01:45:42] Speaker B: Come on. [01:45:43] Speaker C: I mean, we all knew I'd be the first one to get the trauma, didn't we? Let's be honest. [01:45:50] Speaker F: Oh, boy. [01:45:52] Speaker C: God, that would have been such a good gambit. [01:45:57] Speaker A: Elsewhere. Alicia, are you sure this is what you want me to do? A voice says quietly in a dimly lit room, obscured by the thick incense fog that rolls through the air. And there's a jingling of jewelry as the onishi turns to regard to the blond lorivar stood on the other side of the table to him. I was under the understanding that we were allies. We are. Songbird response. But it would seem that our allies have got some somewhat unsavory bedfellows. So I want you to do what I ask. Try not to be seen. But if you have to, make sure no one ever finds them. And the il naishi assassin nods, turns, and as he leaves, reaches out to pick up the double bladed glaive that was propped up against a nearby pillar. By the name of my family, it will be done. Congratulations on completing episode ten. [01:47:58] Speaker G: What the fuck, man? [01:48:01] Speaker A: Achievement unlocks. We got some trauma, so we're going to speak to Meg to find out what a way to come back. Speak to Meg to find out what trauma Freeda is inheriting in time for the next job. Yeah, we'll see what the next score entails in the. In the next session. Yeah, it's gonna be fine. It's character building. [01:48:36] Speaker C: That's why I keep saying. [01:48:39] Speaker A: So. [01:48:40] Speaker G: Overindulge as well, in the same search. [01:48:43] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We went all. There were all sorts of pear shapes, weren't there? So if. If you enjoyed that, make sure to hit the like button and comment down below on which of the traumas you think freedom should pick up on, and then we'll see if you're correct in the next episode.
