[00:00:00] Speaker A: Previously on Alicia Rising. [00:00:04] Speaker B: It is good to finally meet you, Master Cadwalladr. [00:00:07] Speaker C: I thought it would be fair to see eye to eye. [00:00:10] Speaker B: There's a tilt of the head from Nefermey. You managed to procure that with which I asked? [00:00:16] Speaker D: Indeed. [00:00:17] Speaker C: This box is an arcane focus of incredible power. Whatever spell you are wishing to focus it upon, I would want to be involved. [00:00:28] Speaker B: I am more than happy to offer patronage to those who have been scorned by the dragons. Atta, as you're kind of laid down on the. On this bed, you begin to picture a face. It's a screaming face. Your eyes open wide. You watch as the spirit just forms fully in front of you. The screaming spirit of this shield bearer is seemingly trying to choke the life out of you. [00:01:02] Speaker E: Atta. She's like, I have to stop playing around. That moment, she would have reached for, like, a ghost bottle, and the command would have been, get in. [00:01:12] Speaker B: And you watch as the shield bearer is absorbed into the orb and the room goes quiet, except for the sobbing crying of the Madrani woman in the corner. [00:01:31] Speaker F: Welcome to Elysia, the jewel of the north. On our gilded streets, fortune and fame can be found by anyone. [00:01:43] Speaker D: Hi, I'm Julia, and I'm playing Magpie, an ace of our lurk. [00:01:48] Speaker G: Hi, I'm Nate, and I'm playing cavern, a dragon scent slide. [00:01:53] Speaker D: Hi, I'm Meg. I'm playing frieda, a wolfkin cutter. [00:01:58] Speaker C: Hi, I'm JC, and I'll be playing Algernon, an ace of our spider. [00:02:03] Speaker E: Hello, I'm Erol. I am playing Atta, a goblin whisper. [00:02:08] Speaker B: And my name is DM Dan. I will be the games master on this adventure. [00:02:14] Speaker F: So come on in and marvel at our wonders. Make sure you see the beautiful views we have to offer. And don't mind the ghosts. They're friendly, really. Grab yourselves a seat and make yourselves welcome in the city of Elysia. [00:02:36] Speaker B: Hello and welcome back to explorers of elsewhere's Elysia rising campaign. Hi, I'm Dee and Dan. Hello. And I am joined by four of the most stressed out people you could ever meet. [00:02:48] Speaker D: No, I could. [00:02:49] Speaker G: We've all got tea now. [00:02:51] Speaker D: We're all good. Chill. [00:02:54] Speaker B: We rejoin you after witnessing a very. A rather intense encounter of the spiritual and ghostly kind. So, yeah, I'm at around the covering. I'm feeling a bit bit worse for wear. Yeah, now it's time for some downtime. Who would like to kick us off? I'm gonna be. I'm gonna be generous and pass this out to you. [00:03:22] Speaker D: Wow. [00:03:26] Speaker B: Don't rule rush at once. [00:03:27] Speaker D: That's the wrong call, tan. [00:03:31] Speaker B: Tell you what. Let's start. Given. Given that she, Atta, is the whisper of the hour, let's start with Atta. [00:03:41] Speaker E: Okey dokey. I think Atta's looking at this, like, ghost that she's just, like, you know, sucked into this orb. And she was thinking of her. Her grandma, and she's. She's been very conflicted lately about, like, she's been thinking more deeply about, are these ghosts really okay? What. The experiments that the hollow are doing, are they. You know, they seem in, like, a lot of pain, and I guess Atta doesn't want to keep this ghost, but she doesn't want to give this ghost to the hollow, which she could do to get some coin, but I think she wants to try and start figuring out how this kind. I can't think of a better way to word it, but how to, like, help the ghosts, essentially, to, like, possibly whether they could be released safely, put to rest. So I think her stress relief is, instead of gazing at bubble, is going to be like that still, like, that level of intensity, of obsession with the weird that it's now focused on. How could. How could I possibly help this ghost get over the other side? Would that help? Would that not help? Is releasing a good thing? And I think all of this is slightly a stream of consciousness as Ata and Catherine kind of walk back towards. Yeah, but, Catherine, we. Maybe we should be helping the ghosts. They. They're not having a good time. [00:05:50] Speaker G: I know, but if we release them, we're not gonna have a good time. Are you sure? Are you really sure about this? [00:06:01] Speaker E: I mean, if I can. If I can find out, maybe I won't be able to find out what they're angry about or what they want or why they want to hurt us so much. But maybe I can find a way to, like, I don't know, put them somewhere better than the mushroom farm and maybe also somewhere better than outside the veil. I don't know. [00:06:43] Speaker G: Cavern is gonna. Obviously, with her, without her being much, much smaller than him, I think he's just gonna put, like, a hand on her head and say, like, well, if anyone can do this, I think it will be you. So let's. Let's give this a go, and let's not try and worry the others about this, okay? [00:07:11] Speaker E: Okay. Yeah, they've got a lot. They've got a lot on their plates at the moment. Algae seems pretty strung out. [00:07:23] Speaker B: So, um, this. If you're. Which district are you heading to? Uh, to do your. You've done your catch, now you're doing your release. [00:07:36] Speaker E: I. Ooh, city map. I mean, my first. My first thing was like, why don't I go to, like, near where the castle is? No, the castle is going to have real high, like, security, I think, from when atto Washington, Atta was looking around and there are just. Oh, so, no, wait. There are ghosts in the mausoleum. Right. And they are kind of hanging out there. [00:08:08] Speaker B: So that is. I guess that's one thing for you, perhaps a question to ask yourself is that. Yeah. In the mausoleum, you know that you were in the presence of, like, an obscene number of just roaming spirits. They're just loitering in the area, but ghosts eat people. Like, you've had, you've encountered now what you. Within the space of the past few weeks, you've now had an experience with three. Three separate encounters, upper amringers in the hollow hideout, and just now, spirits appearing and then immediately trying to gorge on the living. So, like, I guess a question for ATA at some point is why isn't the mausoleum a scene of absolute bedlam? [00:09:12] Speaker E: Yeah, what's different? [00:09:14] Speaker B: What's the difference? But, yeah, you definitely don't want to do it in the ivory because there's a lot of eyes on the ivory right now. [00:09:23] Speaker E: Yeah, I. Maybe the release isn't happening right now, but the stress, the stress reduction time is spent, like, pouring over the memories at the mausoleum, like, what felt different, what was different, and probably taking a few, like, visits around the area in, like, the vicinity to kind of. [00:09:51] Speaker B: Okay, in which case, you roll me. So two dice on the left hand side of screen is an indulge vice. You are at eight stress, and this will be a one dice off the back of your resolve. [00:10:09] Speaker E: Well, cool. [00:10:12] Speaker B: Um, so you clear three stress. You are down to five. Um, what is your second downtime? [00:10:19] Speaker E: So I didn't get healed. Instead, something bad happened. But there is another thing that I want to do. [00:10:25] Speaker B: Yes. [00:10:26] Speaker E: Which I may. I feel like as much as I want to try trying, try and heal, I don't actually know where we. Where I could go now. And the other thing. The other thing that I know we need to do is we need to figure. We need to figure out a way to talk to Tavareen. I think I might spend time. Is it the project, how we were doing projects or so effectively? [00:11:00] Speaker B: Yeah, we would consider it like a long term project, but it's. We boil it down to a single dice roll. Okay, so you're looking to have a natter with tavares. [00:11:15] Speaker E: I'm trying to construct a method, however proficient or crude, to have simple conversations whilst a ghost is still bottled without like, releasing them because we don't know how to release them safely. Okay, so can I put like Clipper, clippers onto the bottle of Tavare and hook it up to a potato and then we don't have potatoes, mushrooms and then like a Ouija board or something? I don't know. [00:11:45] Speaker B: I'm sure that between the Tavarian in a bottle and wizard in a bottle, effectively you're trying to make one be like the other. [00:12:01] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:12:03] Speaker B: So, yeah, I, I think you could definitely, you could definitely kind of engineer something doing kind of magical, spooky, Okie dookie stuff to be able to try and converse with Tavarean whilst she's still contained. I mean, that means that straight up. [00:12:25] Speaker A: Is in the tune. [00:12:27] Speaker B: Yeah, there's no beating around that bush. So in this downtime, is anyone else helping with anyone like to dedicate their second down time to helping Atta try to get in touch with Tavarian? Bear in mind, if anyone wants to help but still keep their two, we, you can do it in exchange for a coin. So off the back of last or Rep. So off the back of last mission, you all gained eight coin. You'll be able to fence the four loot that you picked up. For a further four points. You came away with twelve. You need to pay two to the il Naishi for the gold pot. And they're very insistent on that because they've got a knight of lost earnings. [00:13:16] Speaker D: Shuts down ten. [00:13:18] Speaker B: You've got an initial, an additional ten in the kitty. [00:13:21] Speaker D: Now how many can we actually store in the kitty? [00:13:24] Speaker B: Well, the crew, by the looks of it here, has two coins in the stash and can only take another two. [00:13:32] Speaker E: So why do we do it? [00:13:33] Speaker D: The rest. [00:13:35] Speaker C: Well, how much would it cost next time to upgrade our tier 16? [00:13:44] Speaker D: Oh, how are we ever supposed to store that much? How much did, did we not get. [00:13:50] Speaker C: Bigger copies each personally? And then we could. Okay, when we upgrade our XP, I think we can upgrade to a vault. [00:13:58] Speaker B: Correct. Okay, yeah, so when the crew. Yeah, if you get another two crew XP, then you can buy a vault and then that will give you. Where is it? Where is it? It's under upgrades. So you get. You can choose two upgrades if you're doing that and a vault gives you an additional four coin space. [00:14:21] Speaker D: Right. [00:14:21] Speaker B: Just bear in mind that if you are carrying coin on your person, actually that should be a load per coin. [00:14:31] Speaker E: What? [00:14:32] Speaker B: Yes, because carrying around a lot of money on your person. People know you're carrying a lot of money on your person. [00:14:39] Speaker C: I think speaking to Tavareen is important enough that I'm willing to spend a coin to have an extra downtime for algae. [00:14:48] Speaker D: We should definitely spend a coin. [00:14:50] Speaker B: Well, actually, just one. Thinking about it. If we put two coin in the stash to fill up to four. [00:14:56] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:14:59] Speaker B: So between the rest of you, you need to store eight coin on your persons. [00:15:05] Speaker G: So spend one for an extra. Now you can spend an extra one. [00:15:09] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, that's good with me. [00:15:12] Speaker B: Cool, cool, cool, cool. Right, so I'll put one coin in Frida. [00:15:16] Speaker E: It will take me back to three dice for this attune roll. So is it risky? Controlled. [00:15:25] Speaker B: So because you're operating at home in the. With all of your tools and whatnot, I'm gonna say it's a controlled standard to begin with. [00:15:33] Speaker E: Okey dokey. I'm so scared to roll dice. Yay. [00:15:39] Speaker B: Success. You do it. Okay. How is Algalon helping? How do you imagine that's happening? What's that looking like? [00:15:52] Speaker C: I'm going to try and attune or sort of use Algernon's attuning powers and his experience with foresight and all the spirit stuff we've encountered. Yeah, I guess to channel Tvarian. He remembers the. [00:16:17] Speaker E: You still have the letter that she. [00:16:19] Speaker C: Was holding, I believe I do. The little piece of thing that we took from her hand. [00:16:28] Speaker B: Okay. [00:16:29] Speaker C: And he attunes into his failed desire right at the beginning of this to speak to her and meet her after memorial day. [00:16:40] Speaker B: Okay. In which case, through that sort of like, spiritual focus, through and through Atta's manipulations, atta, you successfully kind of adapt the ghost orb in such a way that you may now speak with the spirit within. [00:17:06] Speaker E: I think I've, like, more artfully than duct taped, but, like, figured out how to, like, attach like, a mic to the bottle. And Algae's got like, a pair of, like, really ridiculous steampunk headphones. Like, and it's like there's a little dial with like a little radio frequency. And that is like their trainer. [00:17:29] Speaker C: I've got my camera as well, set up as sort of like a mirror system to look through the viewfinder. [00:17:35] Speaker B: Okay. Okay, very good. So, yeah, we've turned the camera and, yeah, steampunk headphones, they just look like. [00:17:47] Speaker E: Two cans, but yeah, sure. [00:17:51] Speaker B: So in which case, yeah, after, like, you are now able to have a chat with Tavareen if you want to, but that'll be like its own kind of downtime, a bit free time, a bit kind of thing. Okay, cool. Very well done, atta. Who's next? Tell you what. Algernon's in the room. What's Algaon doing next? [00:18:12] Speaker C: So I have a spidery thing that I want to do, but first, there's something that Nethane said has Algernon kind of shook and intrigued. And I think, Magpie, you'll notice around Cadwallade, some of the wallpaper has been ripped away. And the portrait of Lord and Lady Cadwallader that hangs in the main hall has been taken down and destroyed and the frame ripped away. Looking for clues behind the painting. And you follow the sort of trail of destruction to the old nursery room, the room where Frida's been practicing her wrecking. Yeah, but it's not Frida that you find wrecking there. Tearing up the floorboards or the inside of the old furniture and the wallpaper in a sort of fervor of curious destruction. [00:19:14] Speaker D: Oh. What you doing there, champ? [00:19:19] Speaker C: Magpie, I've been thirsting for a decent cryptic clue this whole time, and our friend lady Neffin gave us a juicy one. I know you clocked it. [00:19:28] Speaker D: I did. This is about her comment about it being hard on both of you. [00:19:37] Speaker C: Quite. [00:19:38] Speaker D: Do you have any idea who she was talking about? [00:19:44] Speaker C: My mother raised falcons. Have I told you this before? Maybe it was in the future. [00:19:50] Speaker D: Sure. [00:19:52] Speaker C: Hunting birds. Selectively crossbred for sports and pedigree. [00:19:57] Speaker D: Right. What has that got to do with this? [00:20:02] Speaker C: What's your path, Amina? [00:20:04] Speaker D: Oh, um, the socialite. It's all very boring. [00:20:10] Speaker C: Well, mine. I inherited a military one from my father. My mother's was slightly more family oriented. Good breeding, as they say. But I'm not sure they were talking about the birds. [00:20:23] Speaker D: Hmm. [00:20:25] Speaker C: And I would like to essentially do a long term project to study the ruins of codwall. Ada Mana, for any evidence of a secret sister. [00:20:39] Speaker B: Roll me a controlled, limited to start, because again, we're gonna. [00:20:48] Speaker A: We'll. [00:20:48] Speaker B: Or condense it into a roll. Controlled, limited. Would you like to. [00:20:57] Speaker C: I've done it. [00:21:04] Speaker B: Magpie, you watch as Algernon descends into this, like, freneticism that you've never seen, seen from him before. There's. I can only imagine, an intense kind of drive in his kind of hobble gate as he kind of goes around, you notice, without the crutch, like, yeah, pulling up, pulling back wallpaper, ripping up carpets, smashing through hollow wood furnishings on the walls, like hollow spots on the wall. And, Magpie, how long in, like, minutes or hours do you stand watching Algernon tear his home apart as he moves from room to room. [00:22:01] Speaker D: I don't. I don't think she can tear herself away as long as takes him. I think it's probably. What do you reckon, JC? Would it be a good, though? [00:22:12] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:22:15] Speaker B: In which case, like, with every room, Algernon's destructive efforts, like, destructively, investigative efforts, become more and more like, extremely. And who else is in the manor right now? That sounds like attu will be in the house somewhere in the manor. So, yeah, you glance up from, like you're still doing your research on the Tavarean orb. And you watch, sort like Al Gon on stride past your door, the door to the room you're in with a crowbar in hand. And. And Magpie, you watch as Algernon starts, like, splitting the door frames for some of the, like, the upstairs rooms. And it's when you do that. But what one of them comes away surprisingly easily, like, easier than the rest. And the two of you look at the side of this door, this shattered door frame, and you notice that there are horizontal scratches on the door frame going up and up. And you note there are dates. And one of them, one half of the lines are annotated with an a and the other are annotated with a d. An algemon, you stand looking at these marks, and the fact that they are layered on top of one another would imply that this d, whoever they are, was here in this house with you. So why do you have no memory of them? There is nothing that comes to mind as you look at that letter D. And you think, you glance across to the shredded painting that was, you know, halfway up the flight of stairs of you and your mother and your father before that fateful trip. Who is the letter d? [00:25:20] Speaker C: I think Algernon just sort of collapses against the doorframe and just starts laughing. [00:25:30] Speaker D: Magpie looks very nervous. Alkanin, what does it mean? [00:25:48] Speaker C: For the first time in my life, I don't quite know. [00:25:55] Speaker B: You run through your memories, your lonely childhood, the only child of house, of house Cadwallader, your distant parents being sent away to boarding school, getting a spot in the elysian universities, all the way through to your induction into the elysian intelligence corps. All of these memories are vivid because you can remember them as vividly as they happened, as photographic as the images from your camera. [00:26:38] Speaker A: Who is Dee? [00:26:46] Speaker C: One letter. It's a decent start for a crossword clue, I mean. [00:26:57] Speaker B: And what would you like to do for your second downtime? [00:27:00] Speaker C: Right, so I think I'm gonna take another big swing. Spidery swing. And I would like to flashing back in time from this moment, I sort of catch wind that Atta and kavarin are heading to the gold pot. And I would like to instruct either one of them to take Musto's magic orb and place it there in the possession of the Ilneishi and Lady Knull. [00:27:42] Speaker B: Okay. [00:27:44] Speaker C: Where I intend for it to be found. [00:27:50] Speaker B: Okay. Okay, was that so, cavern. And you instructed Kevin and Atta either. [00:28:01] Speaker C: Or whichever one of them wanted. [00:28:03] Speaker B: I imagine this will be a cavern jobby, as atta was away with the fairies, you noticed. Okay, so, well, that's. Are you attempting, are you looking for a downtime outcome of that? It's like a, like a reduced heat or it could be a ruffling the feathers on the reputation clocks. [00:28:35] Speaker G: Yeah. [00:28:35] Speaker C: So basically I want to, I want to turn songbirds relationship with the Ilneishi slightly worse and get some of the heat away from muster and the cobbles. [00:28:54] Speaker B: Okay. In which case, as it, whilst it's your action cavern, I am going to ask you to tell me how you discreted this orb in the gold pot. Like what ability you're using. [00:29:08] Speaker G: Oh, what ability am I using? I think I'll use a prowl. While I think it was with full intentions to sort of put it somewhere when, like, he knew that there wasn't much attention going on, but because of now the hubbub that's happened and that there's people probably like, like evacuating the gold pot at the moment, he's going to use that opportunity to, to do a prowl and just leave it somewhere. That is probably more like. It's not just like out in the open, it's like close to where, where any of the ilnays you probably do like have like secrete conversations only really have access to. [00:30:02] Speaker B: Okay, um, in which case, please roll me a. It can't be controlled. I'm gonna say a risky standard prowl. I assume you are not pushing yourself. No. [00:30:22] Speaker E: Can I, can I help? By causing a hubbub in the other room? [00:30:28] Speaker D: You already are. [00:30:31] Speaker B: So actually, you know what, I will give you a free extra dice because of the absolute bedlam that ensued. [00:30:42] Speaker G: Yeah, here we go then. Risky standardization. [00:30:57] Speaker B: Okay, so cavern, we flashback and you're in the gold pot. Like in a, in the back rooms of gold plot by looking around thinking, where on earth are we gonna store this thing? Like looking around for a spot that's nothing too this. That's discreet, but not too discreet. And in the ensuing chaos, you do manage to sneak it away, but, like, but you hit when you heard the screams. That kind of spurred you on to just kind of put that, put it down effectively and check on atta. So I'm going to, I'm going to impose a complication. And in the aftermath, as you and Atta make yourself scarce from the gold pot, as the whole place gets locked down, an arcane orb is found by the investigating watch and confiscated as part of their efforts to determine what had happened. But the. So the investigate, the watch investigates clock has now completed and, yeah, we'll see what comes, what comes up after the watch have confiscated this arcane contraband. Cool. So that was Algernon's argument because he helped with let's swing across to cavern while the camera, while the focus is aimed at you. [00:32:48] Speaker G: Hey, well, I'm gonna de stress because I think I need to. I think once Katherine sort of knows that Atta is okay and she's sort of tinkering on with her, with her own stuff and muttering excitingly as she does to herself, I think he is going to go to the chandelier and see who is about for some potential fun. [00:33:26] Speaker B: Okay, go ahead and roll me a one dice. Indulge. And you are at 2347 stress. [00:33:39] Speaker G: Doge, vices seven stress. Oh, that's beautiful. [00:33:48] Speaker B: Nice. You can describe to me up to three patrons of the chandelier. [00:33:57] Speaker G: Oh, um, I'm gonna say it's too rather. [00:34:06] Speaker B: I'm gonna say, actually, give me two and I'll give you the third. [00:34:12] Speaker G: Okay. I'm gonna say that it's two rather athletic performers that are usually outside, sort of know, sort of doing circus acts and things like that. Sort of hang around Celestri. Let's say they are. Let's just say. Let's say they're Laura var. Catherine likes Laura vars. Yeah. A man and a woman. Actually. Let's say that gender is unknown. They look like fun. [00:34:59] Speaker B: Okay, question mark and question mark. Cool. The third is rose. The third. Jeff, room for one more? Okay, so, yeah, Cavern, you. You becoming broiled with these two loravar. But your interest is particularly piqued when they inform you that you are just the kind of person that their boss would be very interested in meeting. The circus manager, if you will, the circus runner, because he's like you, you know, but not quite. And you are introduced to a red scaled dragon scent, wearing lilacs, magentas, and cyan blue flowing fabrics and curiously serpentine lower body. And as he locks eyes with you from behind, behind these rose tinted glasses. [00:36:26] Speaker A: He, well, isn't this a delight? [00:36:33] Speaker B: He says, and then you do the naughty. Reducing stress. Sorry. [00:36:40] Speaker G: No, describe it, Dan. Describe it. [00:36:42] Speaker D: Where has he been hiding for the past two years? Like, how is Cavern not come across this guy? [00:36:51] Speaker B: This is a very good question, Catherine, as the slithering commences. But, yes, you discover that this is. Gentleman's name is vaunthum. V a u n t h a m. Vaughn. From Blimey. And yes, he is a dragon scent. He keeps himself to himself. He. He keeps his social circles tight. That's how he prefers them, because of his unique build. So you come out with shaky knees. What's your second downtime? [00:37:39] Speaker G: Hmm? I thought I had it all planned, but now I'm interested. [00:37:46] Speaker B: Now I would like to over indulge for a second. Go, please. I'd like to run the risk of being lost for weeks. [00:38:00] Speaker D: Can you imagine if your piece had to come up with a new character halfway through this short campaign? [00:38:10] Speaker G: Because originally, I was going to do some training, but now I think I want to do a long project and find out more about this. Happy? Yeah, let's do that. Let's find out more about him. [00:38:25] Speaker B: Okay. Okay. So, again, we'll condense to one role. How are you going about investigating the enigmatic vaunthum? [00:38:36] Speaker G: I guess probably asking the people who work for him. So asking those circus folks. Just asking more information about him. Sort of. Like, where he. You know, sort of like, does he come here often? Does he. Yeah. Like, how. How did. Like, how did they find. Like, how did he find out about them? Like, where would he usually be? Like, is this his usual haunt? Because obviously, I would guess Catherine would go to the chandelier fairly often, so I don't think he would have seen him before. Um, actually, scratch that. Can I just ask him in some pillow talk? [00:39:23] Speaker B: Sure. That sounds like a consort. Ye old pillow talk. So, I'm gonna say. I mean, you rolled a six, so clearly everyone did a good job. So I'm gonna say controlled. [00:39:44] Speaker A: Oh, mystery. [00:39:47] Speaker B: Controlled. Limited. [00:39:50] Speaker G: Limited. [00:39:53] Speaker B: You can stress yourself back up if you like to push yourself. [00:39:56] Speaker G: Yeah, I'm very tempted to, actually. I'm gonna push myself to make it a. Make it a standard for a controlled standard. [00:40:08] Speaker B: Okay. So with a consort, that is a. Too dice. Too dice. Controlled. Standard roll. [00:40:22] Speaker E: Oh. [00:40:24] Speaker A: Okay. [00:40:25] Speaker B: You do it. [00:40:28] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:40:29] Speaker B: Do you? [00:40:30] Speaker D: Already did it. [00:40:31] Speaker G: Already did it. So, obviously did something he liked. [00:40:39] Speaker B: What is it you would like? So, what. What are the three things you want to know? [00:40:48] Speaker G: Where's he been all my life? Is he some sort of a devout to any faith? Like, to any particular God himself. [00:41:00] Speaker E: Mm hmm. [00:41:02] Speaker G: And where does he think the veil came from? [00:41:11] Speaker A: Okay, well, Cavern. You have to understand, I. I do my very best to keep myself to myself. My unique form is particularly eye catching, and I care not for unfettered attention. I like to curate who pays me attention at the best of times. So I linger in the shadows. I oversee the dancing troops throughout the celestial. They are all beholden to my will. I am a discreet whisperer and nothing more. And this pains me because, yes, I am a devout, but nothing of one that is celebrated within the confines of Alicia anymore. I owe my lineage to Meladani the reveller. She is a beguiling mistress, and through my efforts, through the city, I pay homage to her and her alone. Some would consider this debauchery, but I know that only through revelry can we rise. And I do what I can for the people of Elysia, to give them something to cling on to in the cold, dark expanse of this void. Everything comes from somewhere. Even as we dragon scent, question the true nature of our origins, we acknowledge that we must come from somewhere. And such is the same for the veil. I believe that hidden within the dark, dark heart of this city, there lies. [00:43:46] Speaker B: The secret to our salvation. [00:43:49] Speaker A: And only the uninitiated. And the foolish would be blind to the impending dangers we are faced with. I assume you have heard what has happened at the gold pot. [00:44:05] Speaker G: Yes. Interesting state of affairs. [00:44:11] Speaker A: So whatever it came from, it's clear that it is in decline. Whether it be an artifact, a spell, a person, whatever it may be, they are not long for this world. I find it curious, don't you, that. [00:44:44] Speaker B: The blackguard would go to all of. [00:44:46] Speaker A: The effort they have gone through to secure a pile of ruined and burnt out masonry? [00:44:57] Speaker G: Yes, I think it is. [00:45:00] Speaker A: I wonder what secrets lurk in those silent minds. What I would give to show one of the blackguard a world of pleasures and dance exchange for a glimpse behind those lustrous ruby eyes. [00:45:32] Speaker G: If you agree to keeping relatively close contact, maybe we can help you with that. [00:45:48] Speaker B: Vaunthom smiles. And it's the same wicked like, devilishly insinuate, insinuating smile that he first reeled you in with. Yes, he. He approves of this arrangement. So I will add. I'll figure out exactly what it is. But currently he is vaunted. Dragon Center. Lafario, to your allies list. Very good. That was your second magpie, right? [00:46:27] Speaker D: I would like to indulge my vice because I'm quite stressed. Please. So I'm gonna nick something from my parents house. And I'm gonna give it to an orphanage. [00:46:38] Speaker B: Okay. [00:46:39] Speaker D: That's what I do. [00:46:40] Speaker B: Roll for indulgence. It is a two dice roll. [00:46:46] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:46:46] Speaker B: And you have seven stress. [00:46:49] Speaker D: Yes. So I would like a bit. [00:46:54] Speaker B: Five stress. [00:46:55] Speaker D: Okay. [00:46:56] Speaker B: So you drop down to two tall. [00:47:00] Speaker D: Cool. I love that. [00:47:03] Speaker B: Um. [00:47:04] Speaker A: Wonderful. [00:47:05] Speaker B: Uh, tell me what is you stole. [00:47:07] Speaker D: Um. I stole a lovely. It was a brooch last time, wasn't it? So this time, a lovely necklace. [00:47:23] Speaker B: Okay. [00:47:24] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:47:25] Speaker B: Very, very good. The. [00:47:27] Speaker D: No one needs that many necklaces. [00:47:30] Speaker B: The worker at the orphanage looks very confused as you hand over a necklace. They thank you. [00:47:37] Speaker D: I mean, I make donations all the time, so they trust me. [00:47:42] Speaker A: That's true. [00:47:42] Speaker D: They know this is just bequeathed from house Revelle. With compliments. [00:47:49] Speaker B: Sure. So they thank you for your. For your gracious. Your generosity. And they begin their conversations with their local fence. [00:48:03] Speaker D: They must have a pretty good fence, given all the stuff I've been giving them. [00:48:08] Speaker B: Okay, so you're down to stress. What's your second? [00:48:11] Speaker D: So I wanted to be a bit dull and trained. I am one pip away from filling up my insight. [00:48:18] Speaker B: Okay. [00:48:19] Speaker D: And I would like to take a third pip in tinker, as a result. Okay, so that is what I do for my second. So I basically. I think I'm probably. Where would I. Where would I do that? Probably just around Cudwalada Manor. I'm just lucky. Picking them all over the house. Any. That any of the Algon's not destroyed recently. [00:48:45] Speaker B: Amazing. Okay, so, yeah, you level up. You get your third pep in, tinker. Very good. And that is Magpie in a nutshell. Um, so that brings our downtime to a close. Um, you've got some. You've got some time to kill, haven't you? Was it. Was it you'd like to do? So, uh, where are you all reconvening after your. After your evenings? [00:49:22] Speaker E: Can I make a request that maybe we get together to read the book about tarot and also maybe talk to ghost Shabarian? [00:49:31] Speaker D: Yes, that sounds great. [00:49:34] Speaker B: Okay. [00:49:36] Speaker E: We get in our pajamas, we sit around. [00:49:38] Speaker C: We're reading the same book, I assume. [00:49:43] Speaker B: I'm picturing that you're up in sort of like the attic. The converted attic type room of Cadwallader manor. [00:49:50] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:49:51] Speaker B: Which is. Which has become sort of like Atta's workshop. As you all gather with the book you. You found in castle Antalya on the lady in purple, as you begin, like, leafing through the tome, I guess it just stands like. How is this going? What. What are you doing? What questions are you asking, how are you? How are you approaching this? [00:50:21] Speaker D: So I guess what is the reminders? What the book is on, Errol. [00:50:26] Speaker E: It was like a scroll. I searched for tarot in the library and there was like a scroll about. [00:50:34] Speaker B: Yeah, it was like I said, the. [00:50:37] Speaker C: Lady in purple wasn't in purple. [00:50:38] Speaker E: Yeah, the lady. [00:50:40] Speaker B: It's almost like a diary entry on the lady in purple. [00:50:44] Speaker D: So the question is, what's the deal with the lady in purple? [00:50:51] Speaker B: So you open the scroll and to put it kindly, it's a bit of a crazed, hurried writing. Just like someone was scribbling this down on the parchment before the memory of it kind of evaporated from their mind. It's her. She's here again. I see her wandering the grounds tonight. I had the courage to ask her name. She laughed. The lady in purple. I asked why she was here. She laughed. She said she was bored. I offered her a seat in our gaming room. She declined. I asked, why haven't I seen you before? I don't recognize you. She told me she was merely visiting. She comes from somewhere else. The beauty of her eyes, it fascinates me. There's a knowledge in those eyes, an unfathomable, incalculable knowledge. She knows what I'm about to ask before I ask it. And she simply laughs. Will I see you again? She smiles. I suspect you will, she says, sometime between now and the end of days. She winks. I hear movement from the gardens behind me. When I turn back, she is gone. When will I see you again? My beloved lady in purple? And you glance at the date. At her. This screen troll is over 300 years old. What you doing next? [00:53:27] Speaker E: Oh, boy. [00:53:29] Speaker D: I think. Well, we might, um. Have. We have. We, as characters, shared our theories about who she is. [00:53:38] Speaker E: A little bit talked about how infuriating she is. [00:53:42] Speaker D: Yeah, but we haven't had. We haven't chatted as characters, have we, about how weird she is, how otherworldly she seems. Because I feel like that the 300 year date stamp on that scroll, describing very much the lady we've seen, would sort of confirm our suspicions that this is some kind of non timeless creature, potentially. [00:54:11] Speaker B: So you all know that the longest lived peoples within elsewhere are the goblins. And Atta, you fondly think back to some of the most crotchety, crickety old goblins that you know. But it is rare for a goblin to reach 200, um, like, get into the hundreds, and you can all immediately imagine a goblin that's hit like 150 as seemingly their body shrinks into their heads and their facial features can muster, know what, like nothing more than a grimace at the world around them. But all the other races would live to, you know, 80 to 100 at a push. But this is 300 years old. [00:55:13] Speaker E: I think one of the things at all do as we were talking is, I think, ata taking inspiration from this scroll, we'll find some paper and start to, in a similar fashion, like, note down the things that they've observed about the lady in purple, the coins, like, basically, kind of may as well begin a record of what we've known. [00:55:38] Speaker B: Sure. Okay, so as you begin making that list, are you interacting with the tavare orb? [00:55:48] Speaker D: Yes, please. [00:55:50] Speaker B: Okay, so, Errol, you can tell me what Atta has done to jury rig this orb, and then we'll kind of run from there, like, how you interact with it, what you can do with it. [00:56:06] Speaker E: With Algu's camera as well. I like to think perhaps, like, there's like, a very blurry, kind of smudged and smoky kind of silhouette or figure that might appear. But I kind of imagine it as, like, there is, like, a microphone esque, like, kind of attachment to the. Maybe the stopper of the bottle or another area of the bottle that we can kind of speak into. And that there's either, like, you know, headphones or like, a little speaker that. That maybe, like, if you could tune into the right frequencies, will kind of crackle out an answer. So I just kind of ask a question. I guess we'll see how it goes. [00:57:06] Speaker B: So what's the first question? [00:57:08] Speaker C: I think Alcanon's just gonna see. She responds related to Varjen. [00:57:19] Speaker B: There's an uncomfortable silence and then. Hello? Who's there? [00:57:44] Speaker C: People who believe in your cause, my lady. [00:57:48] Speaker B: I. I can't. I. I can't see you. I can't see where you are, dear. I. Where. Where am I? [00:58:06] Speaker C: Do you remember Remembrance Day, lady, you spoke very eloquently about the nature of sacrifice. [00:58:16] Speaker B: I. I. [00:58:21] Speaker A: Yes. [00:58:23] Speaker B: Remembrance day. I. I rem. Yes. I remember the. The people, the faces, the cheering, the. What happened to me. I remember. I remember. Algarve. I remember. What has happened to me, dear. Why can't I see you? [00:59:02] Speaker C: I'm afraid you may have already deduced what's happened, milady. You are an intelligent person, but you are set. You are safe. [00:59:14] Speaker B: But am I safe? I. I can't. I feel it's empty. Everything around me is empty. I can't. Your voice is the first I've heard. I can't. I can't see or hear or feel anyone, dear. Please. Please don't leave me here. [00:59:52] Speaker G: Katherine's gonna put a hand on magpies shoulder and say, magpie, you. You were one of the last people to speak to her. [01:00:02] Speaker D: Yes. [01:00:03] Speaker G: Maybe hearing your voice will. Will help her calm a bit. [01:00:09] Speaker D: I barely spoke to her at all. [01:00:12] Speaker B: Well, it's. [01:00:13] Speaker G: It might be worth it. It might be worth a go. [01:00:20] Speaker D: Um. Hello, Lady Tavareen. [01:00:27] Speaker B: Who? That voice. I remember your voice. [01:00:34] Speaker D: Yes, we met that day after your speech. Shortly before Algarve came. [01:00:44] Speaker B: You're. You're the lady. The young lady with the kind but sad eyes. [01:00:57] Speaker D: We met briefly in the street. I'm so sorry for what happened to you, Tavarian. But I sort of look at the others like. [01:01:17] Speaker E: Tavarian. [01:01:19] Speaker G: Reassure her we're not gonna leave her. [01:01:21] Speaker E: Tell her, Tavarean, you're still incredibly important. And we don't want bad people to do anything to you, so we're keeping you safe. But can you tell us why the veil is failing? [01:01:43] Speaker B: There's another, like, silent pause. Yes, I remember. I was. I was talking to. I was talking to that strange lady. She. She told me. She told me that the veil was. The veil was dying. I remember. Is that what's happened? As the heart of Elysia died of? [01:02:27] Speaker D: Not yet. And we want to stop that from happening. But we have to know more. [01:02:39] Speaker B: I turned. It's that the lady in purple. She seems to know everything that's happening. I think she told me that she'd spoken to other people through the city. She. She told me she's. It sounded like she'd spoken to Algarve and a lady who. A lady called the son Songbird. And I think she spoke to Odor Merce and the high priestess. And she wanted to tell me because she knew that I would try to do the right thing. Because everyone else, it would seem, wanted to do the opposite. That she told me that this. This songbird lady. She was with another. He overheard what was happening and disagreed with what songbird wanted to do. And that this lady in purple said it was fascinating to watch them bicker. To watch a love instantly sour. She found it so exciting. She wanted to tell me to see if she could sell my love. [01:04:56] Speaker D: Your love for what? For who? [01:04:59] Speaker B: The city. Tears. The city. After. She wanted to see if my love for the city would sour if I knew the truth. If I knew what lay at the heart of Elysian. And that's when Algarve came. The only other person that knew. You must find that purple lady. You must get her to tell you the answers. And whatever you do, you must find the heart of Alicia. Whatever that is. [01:05:51] Speaker D: We'll find it. Thank you. [01:05:55] Speaker C: There may still be time to vary in for you to help us do the right thing. [01:06:01] Speaker D: But what is that? What is the right thing that she wanted you to do? [01:06:11] Speaker B: The orb is silent. [01:06:20] Speaker D: Tafarian, are you still there? [01:06:26] Speaker B: Beorp is silent. [01:06:31] Speaker D: Do ghosts get tired? Atta. [01:06:35] Speaker G: Atta, have you got the. Your glasses? What can you see? [01:06:41] Speaker E: Oh, I'll hand them to you if you. I'm fiddling with all the dials and. [01:06:45] Speaker G: Knobs have put the soul seeking. [01:06:53] Speaker B: The orb glows with the same kinda slight intent, like mild intensity that Atta tells you is normal. So it would seem that the spirit of Tavarian is still in fact encased, but for whatever reason, she seems unable to speak. And cavern like. You're looking at the orb and then you take a moment to kind of glance left and right. I think this is the first time you've worn the soul psych goggles, right? Yeah. So you see the sort of like the bluish whitish kind of outlines of your, your companions. And then as you sort of like marvel at what it is you're seeing, you notice an impossibly bright light in the doorway as you. As you turn and you have to squint despite wearing the goggles, and you see the outline of a woman raise a finger to her lips and the light goes out. And as you take the goggles off to check everyone else, you notice cavern looking cute, like frantically at the door, which is empty. [01:08:28] Speaker D: I think Magpie is going to, just on instinct, run to the door, look out into the hallway, down the staircase, whatever is in front of her. [01:08:38] Speaker B: Magpie, as you look left and right and scan your environment, you turn back to the rest of you gathered in Atta's workshop and you are alone and cavern, as you begin to process what it is you've just seen. I think we're gonna call it there. [01:09:12] Speaker D: I'm fine. [01:09:20] Speaker B: Elsewhere in Alicia, a hooded figure squats atop a roof, a ruined roof in the ivory, his gaze transfixed on Castle Antalya, an eyebrow raised at the sounds of what appeared to be some sort of frantic commotion within its walls emanating from it, and the gold jewelry that hangs from his person, jingling gently in the slight breeze through the ivories. His curiosity piqued more so by the small group of children of ire that strode valiantly inside moments before the sound. Some calamitous conflict from it within and his eyes narrow as five individuals sprint from the front of the castle to Kadwalada Manor further into the ivory. As the Majani man looks back, he wonder, he ponders what happens to those children of ire. He waits a few moments and then watches a slow push on the front door and staggering from the castle, covered in blood, a limping yellow scaled dragon scent, her eyes still glowing from her emergent divinity and curious to see how this pans out, the assassin picks up up the double bladed glaive laying at his side and vaults from the roof into the shadows beneath. [01:11:43] Speaker E: Oh. [01:11:46] Speaker B: Congratulations everyone, on completing episode twelve. Oh. [01:12:01] Speaker D: Boy. [01:12:04] Speaker B: So a very chill episode. Very, very chill. [01:12:10] Speaker D: That was downtime. Yeah, that was downtime. [01:12:15] Speaker B: Nothing happens in downtime.
